Wix is compatible with Internet Explorer (version 9 and above), Firefox, Chrome and Safari.

With the new HTML editor we give you option to use the advanced HTML5 technology which entails new capabilities and solutions for your site as well as comprehensive support for mobile devices. However, HTML5 is still a relatively new technology and it not yet fully supported by all browsers. These browsers will catch up with this technology, but to make sure things run smoothly, please make sure to update all your browsers to the most recent versions. You can easily check how well does your current browser support HTML5  here.

To download the latest Google Chrome browser please click here.
To download the latest Firefox browser please click here.
To download the latest Safari browser for Mac please click here.
To download the latest Internet Explorer browser please click here.

You can also check out this site to see a detailed look at which browsers are better optimized for HTML5.

Notes
1. Microsoft does not support IE9 on Windows XP. If you're using Windows XP, we suggest you use another browser. We hope Microsoft will provide a solution for supporting HTML5 in the Windows XP Operating System soon.

You can see Microsoft's answer from their support here as well as a more in-depth explanation from their support forums here.

2. If your viewers use IE8 please find instructions here.

      Hi,

      Thanks for contacting us.

The only changes that can be made towards cutting down loading times for your site are minimizing the amount of content (especially media assets such as images, videos, animations etc) on your home page, as well as making sure all your images are compressed for fast loading times. Unfortunately different coding issues cannot be changed as these are found throughout all Wix sites and are vital for the functionality of certain features found on Wix sites.

Has your site passed the progressive JPEGS test? What are your loading times? Please let us know which of your saved sites are you referring to.

      Awaiting your reply,

      - Daniel M, Wix team.

What are the progressive JPEGS test?

My site loads slowly in browser plus I have been having editor problems not saving, browser crashing, over the weekend was a nightmare it took all day to get a blog to save to my site. My computer even makes noises when  am editing.

I have checked your site using a speed test, the results of which can be seen here. Your site received a score of 'F' for progressive .jpegs.

To rectify this, you will need to save your images in progressive .jpeg format. If you are using Gimp to improve your image quality, you will be able to make these changes in the Advanced Options section.

A great way to increase site performance is to optimize the images that you use. To find out more, please click here!

If you have any further questions, please let us know.

    Hi,

I was unable to recreate this issue on my side, your editor loaded quickly. I can see you are using Safari 5.

Please note that editing your site using the Safari 5 browser is no longer supported.

If you are trying to edit your site on an Apple device running Mac OS X 10.5.8 or older, then you will not be able to upgrade your browser to Safari 6 or 7.

Instead, please use the latest Google Chrome or FireFox browsers to edit your site.

To download the latest Google Chrome browser please click here
To download the latest Firefox browser please click here

Please note that this is only in reference to editing your site.

Your site can still be viewed on Safari 5.

    Best, Ritti

I built a website for a client who primarily uses AOL to access the internet and view webpages.  The client does not need to use the Wix editor, as I do this for her, but she is unable to access the finished website using AOL.  I understand that AOL may not be fully compatible with HTML5.  Is there a way I can edit the html code on the site to display a simpler version of the website that will be compatible with AOL?  Or would you recommend a different solution?

    Thanks,

    Chelsie

Are you receiving any error messages?

      1) Please provide us with a detailed description of the steps that you have taken so far so that we can replicate the process on our end and assist in finding a solution.
      2) Please provide us with more information about the location of the problem on your site, i.e. on what page can it be found?

      Hi,

I have both cleared my cache and updated to IE11 but it still doesn't work. I have also treid it on different computers and they have the same problem.

When I talk to the IT-departement they say that it is probably a cross site scripting problem. I really need your help to solve this as soon as possible.

      Best regards,
      Greta

      Hello Greta,

Have you tried changing the security settings in your IE browsers? We have had users report that some security settings blocked elements in their sites. Please try that and let us know if it works.

      Hi,

It seems like something on your end is blocking some resources of Wix.

      Lets try the following:

      1. First make sure you clear your cache and cookies once again.

      2. Please try loading our home page using another browser.

      3. Please try pausing any protection software (antivirus / firewall ..), and try to access Wix.com.

      4. Try loading Wix.com from your PC using other network connection.

Please provide us with the results of those tests so we could investigate further.

      Kosta, Customer Solutions.

      Hi,

I've talked to some of our it-guys and they found the following problem when debugging wix.com in IE11 on their Windows 7 64-bit machines:

CSS3117: @font-face failed cross-origin request. Resource access is restricted.

      File: 45.eot

SCRIPT7002: XMLHttpRequest: Network Error 0x80070005, Access is denied.

      File: like.php

There is something strange within Wix that is blocked by the firewall, but we solved it by making an exception in the firewall-settings. However I think it is important that you look into this problem, since I am afraid our customers and others might have the same problem.

      Best regards,
      Greta

@ Kosta thank you for response.... I did clear the browser cache & had the same problem.  I can play these same youtube videos on facebook & other sites with no problems.  If you notice that there is one video that stands alone on the of  what I labeled "video center".  This one video plays with no problems; however, the videos that are grouped together below "wash out" after about  10-15 seconds.  So if I had an extension blocking these videos, wouldn't it block it on other sites, too?  Could it be that it's the "grouping together" of the videos causes the problem?  And, when you accessed my website, did you wait a while to see if it you got the same results?  Meanwhile, I will check my extensions.  Thanks.

I have windows 7.  I downloaded the latest version of chrome as suggested by the wix comment/reply above to no avail. I'm still having problems with youtube videos when I access my website via chrome; however, there are no problems with explorer.  The videos will populate for a few seconds on chrome browser, then it disappears.  The uploaded screen shot shows the  results of explorer on the left & chrome on the right.  Is wix using html on any of its sites & are you having the same issue even with the latest chrome version?  Is there anything else you can recommend to resolve this issue?  Thanks.
