Wix is not compatible with Internet Explorer 8 as this browser does not support HTML5 technology. Therefore, we are unable to provide support for this browser and other outdated browsers that do not support HTML5. Wix is compatible with Internet Explorer 9 and above, Firefox, Chrome and Safari.
 

If one of your visitors views your site using Internet Explorer 8, they will see a banner recommending that they upgrade their browser to see the site correctly.

 

Note: Visitors using Internet Explorer 8 will still be able to view and interact with your content. However, some advanced HTML5 features will not display properly.

 

Many large technology companies, such as Google, have stopped supporting older browsers (Internet Explorer 8 included) in order to focus on advancing the future of Internet technology (such as HTML5).

Perhaps most notable is that Microsoft has been forcing Internet Explorer updates, from Internet Explorer 8 to Internet Explorer 9, through Windows updates (although you can opt-out of this) - for the same reasons stated above. You can read more in this Windows blog post from last year here.

      If a user enters the site using IE8, a banner appears which tells them to upgrade their browser.

    However, I can't see this banner.

    I am using IE11's emulation mode to view the site using IE8.

    Convert to Flash

    Hi,

    I am getting complaints that my site does not work in IE8 (as its not HTML5 ready).

    Is it possible to convert the site to Flash, to allow access via older browsers (at the expense of it not working for Apple mobile devices).

    Hi,

    Ifi i use IE lower than 9, the website does not open, doe not get a fault action.. just a white screen.. and people i know told me also they got this, and because it is only a white screen, they don't know it is a issue with the browser

    Hi Could you help me I have set this up but all of the customers have windows 8 and are not allowed to upload further, so is there anyway that I can adapt my site to fit this ?

    Our site does not load on IE11. I found this out when contacted by someone wanting to fill out a form and only gets blank pages. Please advise.

      I have visited your site on IE11 and it was properly displayed for me as you can see below:



      Please note that sites built using our editor simply load "all at once" instead of part by part, which is why you are seeing just a blank page. This is due to the nature of HTML5 and the AJAX technology we use to build the site.

      Hey,

       

      While browsing on the web, your computer and browser stores various information. This build up of information can sometimes cause conflict.

    wix not working with internet 8 since last week

    Hi

    We have an account / website with yourselves .

    We run 3 operating systems here Mozilla ,chrome & explore8(for windows XP)

    We previously have had no compatibility issues with explorer 8

    Now when we or our customers attempt to view our website on explorer they see nothing but a blank page

    Can you advise why this is the case and has changed since 30/03/2014

    I know you state that IE8 is not compatible but it worked up to last week

    From your threads you state

    "Wix is not compatible with IE8 because IE8 does not support HTML5 technology."

    and

    "If your site visitors have Internet Explorer 8, you can add this code so they will be prompted to update their browser (please note, this code does not fix IE8 inability to support HTML5). Please follow these steps:"

    This is not a solution for a high percentage of people on windows XP & IE8 who cannot upgrade to 9

    Please advise a solution

    IE-8 not working and give error message

    Dear sir when I open aaplforecast.com with IE ver. 8 I get error stck overflow at line 0, attached screen shoot after I click OK only the banner of the website show, PLEASE help this happens with many computer

    Formatting on Windows/IE PC

    Hi,

    My website, www.chalex.sg, has some serious formatting issues when downloaded on a windows/IE computer. The issue may be related to when an earlier version of Windows/IE is being used but am not sure about this.

    As my site is targeting large corporate customers, who are typically on Windows/IE (and often not on the latest version), this is creating significant issues for my business.

    Can you please review and advise on how to move forward? If this cannot be fixed, i will need to change provider, hope you understand that.

      Could you please provide more information, for example, what IE version you use, screenshot on the issue you encountered? So we can clarify the issue properly and provide further assistance. For instructions on how to take a screenshot, please use this link.

      Unfortunately, Wix is not compatible with IE8 because IE8 does not support HTML5 technology. Many large technology companies, such as Google, have stopped supporting older browsers (IE8 included) in order to focus on advancing the future of internet technology (like 'HTML5').

      Wix is compatible with Internet Explorer (version 9 and above). 

      Please note that IE8 is an outdated version of Internet Explorer. As IE8 is incompatible with many HTML5 features, your customers would not be able to properly view HTML5 sites.

      As IE8 is outdated, any users of this browser version are regular prompter by IE to update to the most current version to ensure for optimal browsing. You are able to create a Button on your Wix website advising visitors to update their browser version, if they have not done so already.
