There are three possible solutions:
1. If your domain is pointed to Wix by IP- Please contact your domain hosting company and ask them to remove the MX records that point to Wix.
2. If you are connected via Name Servers- Please ask your domain hosting company for the MX records and insert them here .
3. If you have purchased personalized emails from Wix, please follow the instructions here.
You can also find FAQ's here.

Need to get rid of defunct wix domain that is linked to my current domain

I originally set up my website under the domain "hearthstone-acupuncture.com," but switched to a new domain name, "soniaevenlac.com" and have paid whatever renewal fee was necessary to keep that site online for another year. However, soniaevenlac.com is still in some way linked to the original domain, which I've allowed to expire. You can see that the site "hearthstone-acupuncture.com" is still listed below.

Everything still seems to be working fine when you visit the site, but I haven't been able to receive email (I use Google apps). Here's what they had to say:

"I have checked your secondary domain soniaevenlac.com and I can confirm that the MX records are setup correctly using this third party website who.is. However, the MX records for your primary domain hearthstone-acupuncture.com are missing and they will need to be setup in order for you to be able to receive emails.

Please let me know when the MX records are setup for your primary domain as without them the emails sent to sonia@hearthstone-acupuncture.com will not received."

I cannot edit the MX records for my primary domain because it has expired. I don't want to have to keep paying two separate bills to have one website, but it seems like with Wix and Google the only way to maintain my website is by directing it through the now defunct "hearthstone-acupuncture.com."

Please let me know what I need to do in order to make "soniacevenlac.com" my only website so I can once again receive emails and get back to business.

My Email service provider is telling me everything is fine on his side, that my emails problems must be on WIX side. He says that you DNS are not responding. The MX are set as per your instructions.

I CANNOT receive emails at my address. I am sure you appreciate the gravity of this situation. I will need to cancel my subscription and go with one of your competitors is this is not resolve today.

    Please help, best regards.

P.S. @ asciff  ... I you are still checking this thread, can you post a step by step on how you fixed your problem ? I think I have the same issue.

Sorry I wrote : " He says that you DNS are not responding. "

I meant to say NS are not responding. As in NS = Name servers

Please ask your domain host if there are any other MX or A records that need to be added to your site.

I can assure you our NS records are responding, otherwise you wouldn't be able to view the site itself.

      Best regards

Are you referring to the Contact form on your site? If so, there was an issue on google's end with delayed emails, so if you're using Gmail it should be fixed now.

I could not find any mail boxes purchased from Wix under your account. If you are trying to connect your own email, you should update your domain records in the Wix Domain Manager after connecting your domain to Wix. You will need to update these records so that your emails can be redirected back to your email host.  For more information about it click here.

If you need any assistance please let us know!

i just bought 2 addresses ( the 2 i always used already when i was not with wix yet) but where can i see the emails that will go to those 2 adresses? I always had them linked towards my gmail account.

I can not find the emails for the 2 addresses in gmail or anywhere else. Do I need to set them up somehow?

We have received the following reply from theName support:

"Although we manage the domain name castlecoastcampers.co.uk, we do not handle the email forwarding.

The nameservers are set to a company called Wix.

You would need to talk to them about your email."

Please advise what the problem is and why it has stopped working after over a year of working fine.

    Many thanks

If you don't know the MX records, simply copy and paste the text below and email it to your email host: "Dear {name of email host (eg, Godaddy)}, My name is {your name} and I purchased an email account from you for the following domain: {your domain URL ( eg, www.yourname.com)}. I have built a site on Wix.com. As I am using their name servers please provide me with the required MX records so that I can forward this to Wix and have my emails redirected back to you."

If your email provider is on our email provider list, you can easily add MX records by following these steps.

      Important Notes:

      • An MX record is an address, not an IP number. An example of an MX record is: mx1.biz.mail.yahoo.com
        • If the records provided by the email host look like this:
          A mail.wixdomain.com
          MX wixdomain.com mail.wixdomain.com

Then the A record MUST be added before the MX record.

If you get an "Invalid email server" error when adding your records, copy the A record's IP address into the field instead of the MX record:

      • When adding MX records to the Domain Manager, do not use capital letters (lowercase only).

    Hi guys,

my mail is still not working properly because you should also update the MX records in my site as below:

I see you have the custom mail A records was set-up so you are good there; however I noticed you do not have the correct MX records set-up for your site. You need to make sure these two MX records are set-up over at wix: 0 mx1.sub4.homie.mail.dreamhost.com 0 mx2.sub4.homie.mail.dreamhost.com The 0 shown above is the priority number and the "mx1.sub4.homie.mail.dreamhost.com" part is the actual MX record. Once that is set-up mail should begin working like it should.

Please try to do it ASAp since I still cannot receive mails!

      Thanks for contacting us.

You haven't specified which domain you are refering to.

Anyhow please notice you should wait a few hours after you updates your records for changes to propagate.

If your mailbox is not working please kindly contact your email service provider and show him these screenshots:

Ask him for instructions on which records are missing / need to be changed for your email to work correctly.

      Kind regards,

      Mauro. Wix Team
