I think a search bar would be one of the basics that WIX needs to provide.

Yes a search bar is definitely necessary. I have noticed that when you add a new page and click the button to change the name of the page it comes up with a question asking for keywords!! So why do we not have a search bar yet!! It is hugely needed by a lot of us as I can see and should be in the next update of this software!!!

      Hi jadecoupernz,

      Thank you for your feedback!

The 'keywords' field in the page settings is related to search engine optimization (and so are the title and description fields). Click here to learn more about these fields, which are referred to as Meta Tags.

Please feel free to contact us again for any additional feedback you may have or for any assistance.

It is funny, isn't it...? wix supposedly use their own software for their website... yet they've got a Search Bar and Breadcrumbs to name but 2 things that I'd love on my websites...

wix... Please develop your own software for a really, really good search bar and breadcrumbs... We all know that you are able to do this because of other things that you have done for us to use on our websites...

Thank you for your feedback and insights.

At the moment, the only search bars available appear in at the top of this thread.

You need to create a search bar. The apps you offer are no good.  I actually don't understand how you haven't created one yet given the fact that I had to search for a search bar in your search bar. Argh!!!

      Hi there,

Thanks a lot for your input.

I apologize for the inconvenience this is causing you. Please elaborate - which of the apps have you tried and what capabilities do you believe they lack?

All the best, Or - Wix support team.

    search store app sucks.

I notice the search on my store only searches the main categories. Is there a way to make it search for words or numbers ?
The search bar you use when you are managing your store (when you click on 'add photo' ) works great. Why can't we have this one as well for our customers?
I lose potential sales as people can't be bothered scrolling through 100 plus items looking for the one they want.

I have merged your question with the relevant post. Please read the Best Reply herein above.

Currently search apps are third-party apps only, thus if they only provide results for product titles and not for product descriptions, we cannot provide support for their functionality.

      Thank you for your input.

    search phrase

How do you add a "search phrase" to your website??

The norm is that Site Search does not index password protected pages. Some of our users prefer otherwise, and therefore have this option. You can add it to your site and try it out. If you have any questions try support@instantsearchplus.com

You say... "Site Search can definitely index password protected sites". I'm not sure what exactly you mean by this.

I will be using password protected pages and WILL NOT want any content to be accessed in any way whatsoever. And probably would prefer it if these pages were not accessed by any search, Site Search or Google...

If indexing password protected pages is to be the norm (when wix come to do their tool)  perhaps they could include a toggle to index or not index...

Site Search can definitely index password protected sites:
    a. Turn off password for the relevant pages
    b. Click on the sync button
    c. After sync is done - bring back password protection
