If you want to unpublish your site, you can choose to hide it from search engines.

To hide your site from search engines: From the left side of the Editor, click Settings > click SEO (Google) > click the toggle Allow search engines to find my site to turn this option off (change from green to red) > click Done.

Once you have clicked the toggle be sure to hit Save inside your Editor!

Note: Your Wix domain will still be online. If you use your own domain, you can ask your domain hosting company to point it to another server.

Note: If you would like to temporarily remove your site from the web completely, you can place a notification on your home page and say it is under construction. Click here to learn how.

    Hi Wix Team,

I would like to unpublish my website without deleting it. I noticed that you replied to another user by offering to delete their site and then restore it for them. Could you do the same for me? The site is http://moore146.wix.com/py101-012

    Thank You!

It is impossible to unpublish a site once it was published, but you can set your site not to be crawled by search engines.

To do this please go to your editor > Settings > SEO (Google) > uncheck the 'Allow search engines to find my site' box.

Unfortunately this is not possible at the moment.

As a workaround you can ask us to delete your site and then to restore it for you.

When we'll restore it you will be able to edit again, and the site will not be published until you publish it again.

Thank you and we await your reply

      Hi Tal,

Would you please be able to do that. As well I am very impressed with WIX. The website I created was a website that's advertises furniture but when I published it, I realized it wasn't a good idea because people might think it's a real store, but I actually made the website to practice a little and I edited almost NOTHING. Could you help me Tal to do what you said

Please specify which site you'd like to delete, as I can see that you have more than one document under your account, and we'll be happy to delete it for you.

      Hi Asicit,

Please note that you are currently logged in with the username "Asicit".

In order to log in the account and delete the website "http://aicitphotography.wix.com/the-world-as-i-see-it", you'll have to log in with the username "aicitphotography" and email "aicit.photography@hotmail.com".

If you forgot the password, please use the 'forgot password' option in the Login button:

      1. Go to Wix.com.
      2. Click Login/Sign Up.
      3. From the Login screen, under Password, click Forgot password.
      4. From the Forgot Your Password? screen, in the Email: field, type the email that you use to login to Wix.
      5. Click GO.
An email will be sent to you with instructions and a link to update your password.
If you use Firefox or Chrome, and you allowed your browser to save your passwords, you can try to retrieve your login details:
For Firefox, go to Options --> Security --> Saved Passwords.
For Chrome, go to Options --> Personal Stuff --> Manage Saved Passwords.
If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to contact us. We'll be happy to assist!

I'm logged in with the email "aicit.photography@hotmail.com". I don't know who the username has changed to "asicit" and not "asicitphotography". The only website that's on this account is a different one that isn't published. I can't find the "http://aicitphotography.wix.com/the-world-as-i-see-it" website.

I have double checked and the site 'the-world-as-i-see-it' is indeed located in your account under aicit.photography@hotmail.com.

Which site are you seeing under the account you are currently logged in to?

This is the only site that comes up in my account. It's a different website I made and I don't think I've given it a link yet. It's a different one to the one that's live.

      Hi Asicit,

It appears you have two accounts with the same email address.

Please try and access the account that uses the username aicitphotography.

There you will find the site named the-world-as-i-see-it.

I think the account with the user name asicitphotography I deleted that account without deleting the website first. Then made an new account with the same email address. So the-world-as-i-see-it site is properly still hosted on your servers somewhere but I don't seem to be able to accesses it. I've tried a few different passwords that I maybe have used and the only one that works brings up this account with the username asicit.

I want to unpublish my website, but if I delete it, will it also delete all the work I have done to create it, or will it still be available for me to publish it again at a later date? Thanks!

If you would like to temporarily remove your site from the web completely, you can create a new page that says that your site is under construction and make it the first page of your site. If you don't add menus or buttons that lead to your other pages, this page will be the only page your users see!

This way it will still be available for you to edit and publish at a later date.

      Hi  umsteadl

Please elaborate on what you mean by "the recommended solution didn't work for me".

Once you have unchecked “Allow search engines find my” be sure to Save your document!

However, please be aware that if the site has already been indexed, it will take about one month for search engines to update their databases.

For important points to keep in mind when optimizing your Wix website, check out these links here and here.

@soulkr8z  Once you are done creating your Wix document, you may connect your own domain (for example www.mydomain.com). You will need to purchase a domain and upgrade your site to one of our Premium packages that allows for this service.

Wix sells domains! You can follow the instructions here.

If you purchased a domain from a different domain hosting company, you can connect it to your Wix site by following the instructions here.
In order to complete the process ask your hosting company (where you purchased your domain name from) to point your domain to the Wix server using the following cnames: ns1.wix.com & ns2.wix.com

You can also get a free domain coupon from us if you buy one of the yearly packages (Combo/Unlimited/eCommerce).
You can find more information about this sale here.
