If you want to unpublish your site, you can choose to hide it from search engines.

To hide your site from search engines: From the left side of the Editor, click Settings > click SEO (Google) > click the toggle Allow search engines to find my site to turn this option off (change from green to red) > click Done.

Once you have clicked the toggle be sure to hit Save inside your Editor!

Note: Your Wix domain will still be online. If you use your own domain, you can ask your domain hosting company to point it to another server.

Note: If you would like to temporarily remove your site from the web completely, you can place a notification on your home page and say it is under construction. Click here to learn how.

All you need to do is to un-publish your website. All you need to do is go to Settings > SEO (Google) > uncheck "Allow search engines to find my site" -> click "Done".

Once you have unchecked this box be sure to hit Save!

Please note: Your Wix domain will still be online. If you use your own domain, you can ask your domains hosting company to point it to another server.

      Hope this helps.

Yes. Should you choose to delete your site, please follow these steps:

Go to Wix.com -> My Account -> Click "Manage and Edit Site" next to the site you would like to delete -> Click "Delete" on the right side of the page.

Please note that the site's cached version may stil appear in search results for a few weeks till Google crawls iit again and recognizes it as deleted.

Please feel free to contact us again for any future assistance!

Is there any way I can deactivate my site but not delete it? I want to play with it while keeping it away from public access.

                              Thanks,

Duplicate web-site and delete original. There it is now unpublished. That is with the free account, not too sure about one with a domain.

    disable website

Can I temporarily disable my website (or hide it)?  I do not want to delete it.  I just don't want it available online temporarily.  Thank you.

      Hey!

If you have published your site but it is still not ready, you can place a notification on your home page and say it is under construction. When users enter the website that will be the page they see! Make sure you do not add any menus or buttons. This way when users view your page, they will not be able to navigate to any other pages.

If you don't want your site to be visible to search engines, simply go to Settings > SEO > uncheck the box “Allow search engines find my site”.

Once you have unchecked “Allow search engines find my” be sure to save your document!

However, please be aware that if the site has already been indexed, it can take about one month for search engines to update their databases.

If you need any further assistance, please let us know!

    Under Construction

How to I take down my site while I rebuild it?

    • HIRO Wix Team

Replied by HIRO August 6, 2013

It is not possible to completely unpublish your site from the web, however, as mentioned in the best reply at the top you can make your site invisible to search engines or you can  place a notification on your home page and say it is under construction and remove all the navigation buttons in the homepage.

Another option is to delete the site completely , but please note that we will not be able to restore it once it's deleted.

If you do decide that you would like to delete your site, please follow these steps: Go to Wix.com -> My Account -> Click "Manage and Edit Site" next to the site you would like to delete -> Click "Delete" on the right side of the page.

You can read more  here .

Please note: Deleting a document does not cancel/delete your account.

      Hey,

In order to complete the domain connection process, please ask your hosting company (where you purchased your domain name from) to point your domain to the Wix server using the following cnames: ns1.wix.com & ns2.wix.com.

Once they have made the changes, please note that it can take up to 72 hours for the connection to take effect.

Should you require any further assistance, please let us know!
