If you want to unpublish your site, you can choose to hide it from search engines.

To hide your site from search engines: From the left side of the Editor, click Settings > click SEO (Google) > click the toggle Allow search engines to find my site to turn this option off (change from green to red) > click Done.

Once you have clicked the toggle be sure to hit Save inside your Editor!

Note: Your Wix domain will still be online. If you use your own domain, you can ask your domain hosting company to point it to another server.

Note: If you would like to temporarily remove your site from the web completely, you can place a notification on your home page and say it is under construction. Click here to learn how.

Just duplicate the original (the copy site will appear in your account unpublished) and go back and delete the original permanently! easy!

You can do it in your account "my websites" page, choose the site you want to unpublished go to "manage site" and from the menu on the right choose duplicate and then in the same menu click for more options and choose delete.

That's a nice workaround. Thanks for sharing it!

I hope other users will find it helpful.

I need to unpublish a site for my client. It needs to not be visible at all online. If I were to delete the site, do I lose the upgrade I purchased along with the domain name?

      Hey raspinwall,

Deleting the site won't delete your premium plan or domain name. Please read here about how to add an Under Construction page to your side and hide the rest. If you still prefer deleting your site,  before doing so, be sure to duplicate your site!

You can create a copy of your site by going to My Sites, clicking Manage Site and then clicking Show More under Handy Shortcuts. Then, click on Duplicate Site
For more information, click here, or watch the video tutorial below.

In addition, you can find an overview of all edits and changes that you have made to your saved and published website. It makes it easy for you to view, flag or restore to a prior version of your website at any point. For step by step instructions click here .

If you have any other questions, please let us know!

      Thank you,

How do I take my Wix site off the internet without deleting it?

I would like to take my Wix site off the internet.

I have edited the site and opted for it not to be found by search engines, but it still gets found! And this was done weeks ago.

Is there any way I can prevent this from happening? I just want to take the site away and bring it back on at a later date.

      Hi dragadjuric,

To delete your website, go to Wix.com -> My Account -> Click the blue "Manage and Edit Site" button next to the site you would like to delete -> On the right side of the page under "Site Actions", click "more" and click "Delete".

Please note: Deleting a site does not cancel/delete your account.

      Thanks, Nicole,
