Boxes allow you to break up your site into boxed sections and help you to design the layout of your site.

To add a box: From the left side of the Editor, click the Add icon > click Shapes & Lines > click Box.

Change your box's style by changing it's background or skin. You can also drag and attach elements to the box.

How do you invert a box, so that for example with one of the boxes with an arrow pointing down, can you get it so that the arrow faces up?

      Hey  tedxhereford

Unfortunately, I don't fully understand your query.

Please elaborate about the specific  elements  you would like to add to your site so that we can better understand your request. If you have a visual  example  of what you would like to achieve that would be great :)

      Hey @ tedxhereford ,

Thank you for contacting Wix support.

I'm afraid there's no automatic way of achieving this.

A workaround would be to create a transparent triangle using a software like Photoshop and then upload it to the site as a *png which you would then position ontop of a regular box.

If you require any further assistance please don't hesitate to contact us.

Hi, new question: I have a blue box on all of my pages, with some white text on it. i would like to make the color of the box going from this blue to white (in the style you call it "apple area"?)

However, whenever I try to change the color of the apple area / style / box, I can only select 1 color, so it remains solid blue... :(

i tried it on Windows explorer and chrome, and both don't show this option. Is this a feature that you are still working on? or am I missing something?

    please help, thanks!

      Hi Leonie,

I'm afraid I don't know what "Apple Area" you're referring to. It is currently no possible to create a color gradient in a Box's background. Please provide us with the source you're referencing so we may further investigate what you've discussed.

Hi Adam, sorry for my unclear description, however you did manage to understand :)

my main question was if you could make a color gradient in a box and if so, how to do it; which you replied to and stated is impossible.

I guess only way to get a color gradient in the box is to make it a picture with the gradient?

      Hi Leonie,

Just as Adam said, there is no way to create a gradient background in a box. The only way to do this is to upload an image and use it as a box.

Feel free to contact us with any other questions.

i can find boxes but no circles in the editor.  and, although when we built the site, we used circles, on my macbook they now show up as boxes.  on my friend's windows machine, they show up as circles. how can this be?  and, where are the circles in the editor?

I know that the site editor has a horizontal 'strip' option that makes a bar as deep as you want, and as wide as the screen, and it adjusts it's width as the screen is adjusted. But is it possible to get a vertical strip? where the width is what I set, but the length automatically adjusts to fit the screen/content. I've tried working around this by placing a extra long box, but when I view the site on a smaller screen, the box disappears entirely.

What I really want to do is use two background images on all pages, one that aligns left and one that aligns right, but it doesn't look like that is possible either.

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

We don't recommend to place content outside the gridlines as it could effect the appearance of your site in lower resolution sites.

Currently, the width of your site is fixed at 980px. This size was chosen in order to accommodate the largest number of internet users that will be visiting your site. This is common for the new generation of sites.

      Thank you,

      Hello Dina,

Although your answer is informative, and it did help me figure out why the box didn't show up on smaller windows, it completely missed the whole question I was asking to begin with. I'm not interested in the width of the site. I was trying to figure out how to add a vertical element that stayed with the left side of the site, and be as long as any page. Normally I would simply add a second image to the background, however, since it seems like it's not possible, I'm just going to leave it off.

We are sorry for the misunderstanding.

I am afraid that it is not possible to add a vertical strip to your site at the moment.

In order to be able to select your text box and change its settings, please click on Bring forward and Send backward until the element has reached its full colors and is selectable.

If that doesn't work, please provide us with a screenshot of the problem's exact location, so we can look into it.

For instructions on how to take a screenshot, please use this link.

I am having an issue with the opacity feature when I try to customize the box transparency. I have never had this issue before but I deleted some of my site's content, which may have lead to this predicament.

Basically, the color goes from either 100% opaque to completely transparent no matter what number it is set at. It is very frustrating for me because I thought I could figure it out on my own. Sadly, I do need some help with this. Thanks

It isn't possible to add a scroll bar to a paragraph for two reasons:

    1. It isn't advised in modern web design.
    2. It will not work good on touch devices, ie. iPad, iPhone. you should only have one scroll bar in your website, and it should be the site scroll-bar without inner-scrolls.

Please note that you can try to add a scroll bar by adding CSS to the HTML code. A tutorial is available at w3schools here
Please note that we cannot provide support for custom code that you are embedding into your website.
