Yesterday, I accidentally hit command-s and saved my Work page gallery to my desktop, then closed down. When I reopened my site today the gallery was gone from my site, but there's an html file of my gallery on my desktop. Is there any way to bring the gallery I spent so many hours on yesterday back into my site?

      Hi,

You can restore a prior version of your Wix site from your Site History.

To restore a prior version: Sign in to your Wix account > click My Sites > next to the relevant site, click Manage Site > on the right, under Handy Shortcuts, click Site History.

Here you can see an overview of all edits and changes that you have made to your saved and published site. This will make it easy for you to view, flag or restore to a prior version of your website at any time!

It's a good idea to flag and rename versions so that you can find them easily.

Note: The following components will not be affected when you restore a previous version of your site: Online Store, Blog, List Builder, and Apps

Note: You can also create a duplicate copy of your site.

To create a duplicate copy: Sign in to your Wix account > click My Sites > next to the relevant site, click Manage Site > on the right, under Handy Shortcuts, click Show More > click Duplicate Site.
      For more information, click
      here.

For further information click here or watch the video below.

    Hello,

I'm having trouble when it comes to saving the changes that I make to my site. For some reason, even though I'm pressing the "save" button every time I make a change, I'm not seeing the changes when I go to view my site. I made numerous changes yesterday (and I save as I go). I didn't see the changes show up when I exited from the page and put logged back in. I thought maybe it needed a little bit of time to show or something but it is now the next morning and my changes still aren't showing. I made quite a bit of changes in regards to the text and I can't remember all that I put on my site. I dread the thought of having to do it all over again. Is there anything that you may be able to suggest I do?

    Thanks!

Also, just another quick note. I've tried restoring the most recent saved point that shows up under the "site history" option. The changes that I made are all there (thank goodness) and I choose to restore the site. I make a tiny change and choose "save", log out of the site and back in and it still isn't showing any of the changes including all the content that was supposed to be restored. I'm not sure what to do.

      Hey,

In order for changes to apply to your live site, it's not enough to click the "Save" button - you need to click the "Publish" button next to it.

Please know that clicking the "Publish" button both saves and publishes your site, while the "Save" button only saves your progress.

Kind regards, Or - Wix support team.

I have seen the same error as Bauersebastian: when I tried to save I received a message saying there was a problem with my "Site structure", that it was automatically fixed, and that I should check my header and footer for unwanted changes.. I had not changed the structure of the page or the header or footer in quite a while and saw no differences, and I was able to save afterwards with no modification to the page.

My question is, what does this message even mean, and what structure is it referring to?
(The editor also crashed right after this message, but I have that in another topic)

That doesn't quite answer my question. I mentioned in my first post that I was able to save after getting the message with no additional trouble, so I can save.
What I am asking is: What happened? Why did this message appear, what does it mean (site structure? nothing changed), and how can I avoid it to prevent losing data?

      Thanks

The error message has returned and it looks like I will be losing some data because of it. Previously it only happened once and I was able to save right afterwards, but now the error message persists and I can't save.

Like I asked earlier, I would like to know why this message appears and what causes it, so that I can try to avoid it in the future. Screenshot is attached in the case it is not clear what error I am talking about.

      Hi,

I am sorry you are experiencing these difficulties.

I have checked your site via the editor and found that you have a menu element that is located in the footer of your site, which may be causing the problem. Please see screenshot for clarification:

To remove this menu element: Click this menu to select it > from the pop-up menu that appears, click the trash can icon to delete the menu element.

You can also press Ctrl + M on the keyboard to toggle through all the elements on the page. This allows you to easily locate elements that are not visible on the page.

Please let us know should you require any further assistance with this or other issue.

Is the cause of this problem always a menu in the footer? That seems very strange, as menus in the header should obviously cause no problems.

Additionally, can you explain what this means? "The good news is that it's been fixed automatically!"
Is anything actually changed or removed? I have not noticed any differences, but the message implies something has changed.

      Thanks for your help.

      Hi,

I understand that you're looking for some sort of "rule" to follow, however this isn't the case, issues in the editor are solved by troubleshooting, in this case it was a menu that was layered wrongly (and therefor was hidden) in your editor, it could also be a text box with no text in it or a transparent box.

Glitches in the editor are unexpected but as long as you use the drag and drop method (as opposed to moving elements using the arrow keys) this should minimize the chances of this occurring again.

      Replied by austinmarketing9 July 10, 2014

Thank you for your response. It is still very strange to me that an element being invisible visually or moving elements with arrow keys would cause problems with the editor, but hopefully the editor will continue to be improved. I will try to avoid these actions for now.

    • Dror - Wix Support Wix Team

Replied by Dror - Wix Support July 10, 2014

      Hi,

Its more likely a symptom (being invisible) in this case, rather than the actual cause, it was simply problematic code created by the editor. Moving your elements with the arrow keys is slightly problematic as it changes the location to a different web part without assigning it to that web part - which could cause conflict, the attachment features when dragging and dropping is there to prevent such cases. This is more likely to create cosmetic problems than preventing you from saving.

Let us know if you have any other questions,
