In order for any changes to your Wix site to appear live, you will need to publish your site.


To publish your site: From the top of the Editor, click Publish > review your SEO and Mobile View options > click Publish.

After a few seconds, the confirmation box will appear > click OK.


Note: Saving changes will not make them appear live. Every time that you save your site, you will need to click Publish to make the saved changes appear live.

    I'm trying to publish my site.... But it doesn't seem to work at all...

    When I click "publish", it tells me that it is successfully published at this adress:


    (it doesn't give me the full address)...

    When I click on that link, it brings me to a page that says error 404 - not found.

    If I open a new window and paste this address, which I think should be my address


    it gives me that page (see attached image)


    What can I do?

      This is occurring because of the "-" in your username. Please change your username to exclude the dash by going into My account->Settings.

      After that, publish the site again and it should be fixed.

    Hi, I'm unable to publish the site to www.horstsomma.com. Pressing the pulish button returns a message saying the site is live, but the site is empty. What can I do?

    1. Open your browser to a blank page. Close any Wix pages that are open. Done
    2. Clear your browser's cache and cookies of "Everything". You can find step-by-step instructions here. Done
    3. Restart your browser and then log into your Wix account and try again. If this doesn't work, then continue on to Step 6. Done
    4. Try using other browsers to open Wix. Recommended browsers include Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and either IE or Safari (depending on whether you use a PC or a MAC). Firefox, Explorer, Safari
    5. If you connect to the internet through a router, please try connecting directly through the modem. Then follow Steps 2-5 again. Done
    6. Try disabling your internet security programs and try again (i.e. antivirus, firewall, etc.). It is preferable to try this while still connected to the modem directly. This is meant to assist us in determining the source of the problem that you're facing. Done
    7. Try connecting to Wix from a different computer that uses a different network to connect to the internet. Finally, if you are still having issues, please contact us. Let us know exactly which steps you tried and what worked or didn't work. Please also include the following information:
    1. What Operating System you're using (i.e. Mac OSX, Windows XP, etc.) Windows 8.1, Android, OSX
    2. What browsers you've tried - and include the version of the browser (can generally be found by going to Help > About within the browser). Firefox, Explorer, Safari

      Please note that your domain horstsomma.com is not properly connected to Wix. Your pointing configuration in your registrar (not Wix, but your actual domain host) is incorrect. To fix this, please follow the instructions here.


      As for now, your Wix site can be accessed using the Free Wix site's URL euroralph.wix.com/horst-somma.

      Please let us know exactly what happens when your'e trying to publish your site, if you are getting an error message plesae specify which one and if possible please include screenshots exemplifying the issue. You can find step by step instructions here.


      Please also follow the steps provided here. Make sure you try and use different browsers, connections and devices. If the issue persists, please answer the questions in the same link.

    Page is different

    The page I have live is different than the one i have in preview mode/ editing mode. It doesn't have my updated links either. Please advise.

      Hi there,
      In order for the newly edited contents to show on your live site,
      you need to "Publish' your site.
      I have noticed that you have only "Saved" your site.
      By saving a site, you can go back to your Editor and start editing from the point where you left at the last session, however it does not reflect upon your live site.

    Is there a way to only publish one page so I can put up an UNDER CONSTRUCTION page while we continue working on the site?

      In order to do chanage your site into an "Under Construction" single page, you can place a notification on your home page and say it is under construction. When users enter the website that will be the page they see. Make sure you do not add any menus or buttons. This way when users view your page, they will not be able to navigate to any other pages.


      I.e it's not possible to publish only one page of the pages in your site, however you can remove the menu temporarily in order to prevent visitors from navigating to the pages you're currently working on.

    Dear Wix people -

    My site seems to be working pretty well - no major issues.   Niggling thing though: a whole bunch of my buttons appear bright red in the live site, and I made them dark green in the editor.  Similarly, the background of the homepage live is teal; in my editor it is cream colored.   Just want to make sure I can do colors and presentation the way I want it to be!  


    Also, I want to have a function on our page where people can insert a link to our page and a thumbnail as their status - how can I do that?   the fb button now only takes us to the wix page on facebook - where I guess people are supposed to copy and paste?   Our organization doesn't have a public facebook page (and probably never will) but we'd like people to be able to post about us on social media easily.   suggestions?

      OK - I think the problem of the button color seems resolved.   But I still want to know about the social media part!

    I tried to publish my free site, it is on the net but you can not navigate it stays on the home page... I want to cancel it.. I am going to try to find a different site to work with I have toooooooooo much aggravation trying to use this site..

      We are sorry to hear about that, what happneed with your site is very simple, you added a text box above the menu, this means the menu is inert, you can't click it, you click the text box above it and therefor nothing happens. All you have to do is edit the site, try clicking the menu (instead of the menu the text object is marked) and then click the 'Send Backward' icon button (it is a picture icon button on the lower bar of the pop up menu, the one coming up when you click the text object).


      Save and publish, that's it.

    feelin you bruv I just lost a bunch of work through them not publishing it when I clearly smashed publish countless times it set me back and the worse thing is that I have been telling people on my forum how great wix is.......

    Still getting the same publishing error message.  I'm using Windows 8 and IE10.

    Can't load even a 5kb screenshot into this message - here's the text from it

    I've tried a further 5 times and cannot publish.

      I managed to publish it by deleting a 50 item list.  Why would a list grind the site to a halt and make it 2unpublishable"?

      Try to split the information up with say 20 items in a list, this should fix the issue, you may want to clear the cache to,
