The magnet tool allows you to connect components together, temporarily, so that when they are resized or moved, they will keep the same composition on your page.

To use the magnet tool: Click an element to select it > from the pop-up menu, click Settings > at the bottom right of the Settings window, click the Magnet icon.

Now do the same for the second element and the two elements will be connected.

Note: Use the Drag (at the top) handle to move the elements, together, on your page, or use the Stretch (at the bottom) handle to resize them.

Note: Keep in mind this is NOT a grouping tool for elements and will not lock the elements together permanently.

It would be very, very handy to be able to permanently lock elements together (similar to MS PowerPoint's "group" function). I have a number of element groups that I re-use and it is a challenge to move them around, or copy and paste them, without leaving something behind. Even if I use the "invisible box" described above (BTW - great idea!!), it's still clunky.

I know there is a "magnet" function but that doesn't do what I am describing above, unless I am missing something. Actually, it doesn't seem to work very well and it doesn't always appear in the options when I select multiple elements.

    Thanks --JT

      Hi JT,

As you've mentioned, the solution we currently provide is to use a box as a container.

Having a "grouping" tool as a feature is a great idea.

Feel free to add your feature request to our Wish List by posting here.

Not "items". How to group "BUTTONS", Wix Support Team. Just as Skyraisers said also.... You've responded twice with the same answer which is not a solution to this problem. Is there a way to group buttons? I'm assuming there is not.  The "broken blue box" does not appear when trying to grab all buttons.

I´ve merge your question into a relevant topic. Please refer to the Best Reply above.

Another option is to add boxes, in order to group the elements.

An answer to this topic can be found in How do I use a box on my Wix site?

Most annoying feature is not being able to move grouped items sideways. Up and down is great but not being able to move side to side is so frustrating as I now have to move each item individually and the spacing is going to be completely out unless I spend more time adding in rulers for each individual item which is far too time consuming! It would be so great if I could just move everything slightly to the left without having to grab each item.

you can move items as a group to all sides, simply click on "Ctrl + click on each item (without ever leaving the "Ctrl" key) when you're done selecting all your items you can move then as a group to wherever you want

Elements being very fluid and floating while moving them is great, but it's too easy to accidentally move elements after carefully placing them.  The element lock feature was great on the old editor.  Much needed for HTML5 editor.  Re-placing items so often is a big time waster.

Actually it's a complete disaster. I'm rebuilding my whole site now in WordPress because it takes forever to add an item and it's all over the place. The magnet tool doesn't work and copy and paste of multiple items don’t stay in the same place.

I'm very disappointed. Wix is great for a simple site but once you want to keep updating stuff (www.renanabooks.com) it's useless.

You can generally attach items to a blank (invisible) box - which will act as a container and allow you to move items together and make sure there are no alignment issues with your page.

What are you trying to achieve by using a grouping tool? we would love to hear your feed back!

      Thank you,

@avfbronfman, try using the Gridlines and Snap to Grid tools inside your HTML Editor to help you with your site's layout.

Checkout the video here to learn more about our Gridlines feature that will help you with your site's layout.

You can see your Snap to Grid tool on the top toolbar in the editor as well.
