The right-click mouse button for galleries is blocked, however visitors can right-click standalone images. The best form of protection against the downloading or printing of images from your site would be for you to watermark your images before uploading them.

      Hi firetr,

In order to allow visitors to upload files, such as resumes, images or documents, through your Wix site, you will need to use an app from our Wix App Market. Check out the available apps below:

For support on this app, you can contact:

      Website: http://petprojektlabs.com/

      2. 123 FormBuilder allows you to create web forms and surveys. Visitors can upload files via a form.

For support on this app, you can contact:

      Email: support@123contactform.com
      Website: http://www.123contactform.com/contactus.html

Alternatively, you can direct your visitors to send you the file via email.

Note: Documents that you upload to your own site, are available for visitors to download. To learn how to upload a document, click here.

How to protect my web content?

    Hi,

Can someone tell me how I could protect my scripts and my images on my website?

How can I prevent anyone from copy-and-pasting?

And how can I prevent anyone from downloading my images?

    Help will be appreciated.

      Hi cooperationmatters,

Thank you for your question. I've merged your post to a relevant thread regarding this issue.

There is no feature designed specifically to prevent others from copying and pasting your site's content.

A way to get around this which works both for text and images is to add a box via the 'Add' button from the left menu in your editor. Next click on 'Shapes & Lines' and lastly 'Box'.

Make sure to place the box so that it covers the text (or image) and then double click on the box to open it's settings window.

Now click 'Change Style' followed by 'Edit Style' (beside the selected style). Now, under color click on the opacity box of the background and reduce the opacity

to 0%. This will make the box transparent and therefore show the text clearly.

Be sure to verify the changes by clicking 'Ok' and save your changes.

Please note that a box will cover your text and therefore, this will disable the ability to click on any linkable text (if you have linked any text).

As mentioned in the best reply above, the right click option is disabled for galleries.

Feel free to contact us with any further question you may have.

      All the best, Ellie

Indicidualy posted images are right click and copy able.  Images posted utilizing the gallery feature are protected.  This is done by Wix and they have the option of unlocking it.  They set the protection for artists that post copy written material.

      Thanks for your response Ellie.

Not sure what you mean by several threads?  I simply started a discussion by following a link that was sent to me by the Wix team via satisfaction survey.  Questions were asked and I responded and then the thread was merged here.

I fully understand and appreciate why certain people want their images protected and understand that it is possible to enable right clicking in galleries, its a matter of programming.  I am asking that there be a "lock" or "unlock" images feature added when posting images utilizing the gallery feature.

      Thanks for your consideration.

    This option is already available.

Right click on an image and select "Save as" to save it to your PC.

Are you not able to do so?

    Please elaborate on your difficulty.

    Right click option in gallery!

Please add the option to allow my website visitors to right click on pictures and copy them for their own use in gallery posts.  This is very important in helping me sell product as it allows my customers to utilize my product images in digital presentations.  Adding picture individually leaves the site looking off kilter and doubles my work load.

Please give the website owner the option of allowing users to right click and copy images in a gallery.  I need for my customers to be able to use the images on my website to create digital presentations for their customers.  Adding images via the gallery setting saves me time and keeps the pages clean.  Giving me the option to unblock the images is imperative.  Linking the images to an outside source is asking customers to go through another process and ruins the experience for them.

PLEASE protect the photographs that your clients upload to their websites. It is simply too easy to drag a copy of a photograph, or right-click and save it. And yes I know, someone can always take a screen shot, but that quality is not comparable to what is available by dragging or saving.

And yes, we can watermark. But that affects the look of the website and the experience for the user. It is not difficult to take this step to protect your customers and your forums are full of other photographers asking for this protection. PLEASE move this to the top of the list!

    Thank you.

Unfortunately there will always be a way for visitors to take images by making screenshots for example, this is not in our control.

We are here should you require further assistance

      Many thanks, Barrios

As I stated, watermarking affects the look of the site and the experience. And in order to keep the watermark from being too obvious, most of us put it along the edge somewhere. Then, all someone has to do is crop it out.

And as I said, I'm not so concerned about screenshots because of the poor resolution. I'm asking for WIX to block the ability to drag and/or right click ANY photos--not just the ones in galleries.

I am adding my voice and this request to the many others I see in your forums asking for the same thing.

I clicked to add this request to the "Wishlist" and it brought me to the question section. My wish is that you would take this request very seriously and develop better protection and controls.

      Thank you.

      Hi reflecting,

Thank you kindly for your input. As a fellow photographer I can closely relate to your concerns and frustrations.

We do have such a feature on our development road map but every feature is developed based on priority. Priority is dictated by the need of our users (which is voiced over this forum), and by the capabilities we hold to develop each feature.

I have shared what I currently do as a workaround for this issue in previous replies. The workaround is as such:  to "lock images"  on an HTML site you can place a box over the images in your editor and then change the style of the box by reducing the opacity of its color to 0. This means that the box becomes transparent over the image. This will block visitors from being able to download, save or copy the image itself.

Feel free to contact us again with any additional feedback or should you require any further assistance.

      All the best, Ellie

      Ellie,

Now that I have added a store to my site, I can't use this method or it won't let people click to read more about the photo and purchase it. Is there a way to protect them now besides watermarking?

Replied by Ellie June 1, 2014

      Hi reflecting,

I apologize but in the case of a product gallery the only option at this time is watermarking your images. Keep in mind that you uploaded small images so while someone can save them, the images can't be enlarged for high quality.

Please let us know if you have any further questions we may assist you with.

      All the best, Ellie
