There are two ways to create an image with a transparent background:

1. Starting from scratch:

Within Photoshop, click File > New > In the Background Contents field, choose Transparent

You are free to design whatever elements you require (text, shapes, lines, etc) and they will appear with a transparent background.

When you're done,  Save for Web as a .png file.

2. Existing Image

Within Photoshop, select the part of the image that you want > copy and paste it into a new page in Photoshop > double click on the background to edit the name > change the opacity to 0%.

After you've done this, you should see a checkered box for the background. Click on Save for Web and make sure to save it as a .png file.

Finally, upload it to your Wix editor!

Please also make sure that the image has no skin. Click the image -> Change Style > Edit Style -> choose the first skin called No Skin Photo.

How do I create and upload an image with a transparent...

I don't have photoshop, what can I use to upload a transparent image?  I have made it transparent using Microsoft Paint, it works everywhere, except when I upload it to my wix page.

Please refer to  this link for a tutorial on creating transparent images in GIMP.

I'm afraid we cannot provide support for that program, but you can refer to the software provider and ask.

You keep mentioning PhotoShop.  What about the ones who don't have the $$$ for PhotoShop but use GIMP?  What do you do then?

I assume you refer to the Flash editor. Unfortunately some of these features don't exist in the HTML5 editor. However, you can edit images now through or new media manager. Please click here to read more.

    Hi,

By 'blend', I'm referring to a feature that was with the old Wix, in which you could modify an image in such a way that it 'camouflaged' with the background...I'm not sure of what it was called, but there were different features like 'multiply, add, darken,' etc.,

Thanks for your help and prompt response!

    Hi,

What do you mean by 'blend an image with the background'? You can upload an image as your background.

To upload your own background image:

    1. From the left toolbar, click the Design icon to open the Design Manager.
    2. From the Design Manager, click Background.
    3. From the Background window, click Upload & Customize Background.
    4. Under Change Image, click Change Image.
    5. From the top right of the Image Selection window, click Upload Image.
    6. From the window that opens, browse your folders and select your image. Click Open to upload your image.
    7. From the Image Selection window, click your image and then click OK.

    Your background image changes.

Note: To return to the Design Manager, click Back to Design from the top of the Background window.
To close the Design Manager, click X from the top right.

For more information about backgrounds click here.

If this doesn't answer your question, please message us again and be as thorough as you can, so we can better assist you.

    Sincerely,

    blend images with background

How would I blend an uploaded image with the background of the website?  Wix.com seemed to have this ability before, but I don't know if it still does.  Thanks!

I have followed the wix team advice on going to photoshop, changing opacity to 0 and saving it as a png and saving it to the web. I have tried to upload it as a clip art and as a image without frame. I have tried on Safari and on Firefox and everytime I try on Safari it comes up as a gray box and each time I try on Firefox it says it cant get ticket. Please advise me on what else I can do, I have browsed the forum and have not seen a response to this particular question. Thanks.

      Hello,

Please try using Internet Explorer 10 or upload the image here and we'll upload it for you.

You can also go over the guidelines on this page and see if they help in resolving the issue you're having with Firefox.

      Hi  mcook1228,

      Sorry for the confusion here.

I have uploaded the image for you to your account's media content:

As for the error, our detection system noticed that you are using FF 4.  Please update the browser and see if the issue persists.

      Benny,

Thanks for your help. I updated my FF to 21:). I am not having a problem with getting the ticket. So that's the good news.

The bad news is that I tried using the file you uploaded and it still gave me the same problem and I tried to just upload the png file that I has changed the opacity to 0 for both non frame image and clip art and it still is not working.

I have provided a screen shot. Not sure if its because the document has text or its because it has one layer...is that the reason why I can't get it to show up? If you can provide any assistance that would be appreciated. Thanks.

      llia,

Thanks for the suggestion, but I had already tried that in addition to the image without frame and it doesn't seem to be working for me. Here is a screen shot of my adobe photo shop maybe that will help explain things.:(

I was able to upload a transparent image and display it properly at your site's editor, as you can see below:

A few things to remember when you're dealing with transparent images:

      1) Save your transparent imagery in PNG-24 format, to preserve quality as well as the alpha layer ( transluant layer)

      2) When you're adding the image, make sure it's style is set to 'No Frame' (otherwise, it will not preserve transparency)

If you need further assistance, please let us know,
