There are two ways to create an image with a transparent background:

1. Starting from scratch:

Within Photoshop, click File > New > In the Background Contents field, choose Transparent

You are free to design whatever elements you require (text, shapes, lines, etc) and they will appear with a transparent background.

When you're done,  Save for Web as a .png file.

2. Existing Image

Within Photoshop, select the part of the image that you want > copy and paste it into a new page in Photoshop > double click on the background to edit the name > change the opacity to 0%.

After you've done this, you should see a checkered box for the background. Click on Save for Web and make sure to save it as a .png file.

Finally, upload it to your Wix editor!

Please also make sure that the image has no skin. Click the image -> Change Style > Edit Style -> choose the first skin called No Skin Photo.

      Hi mselleroy,

What kind of logo are you trying to create? you can add shapes, clip arts and text without a problem to your existing sites background.

      All the best, Ellie

Well what I am trying to do is have the name of my website and my title become the forefront of the homepage. right now it is not clearly seen but almost blends in with the background picture.

I don't have a logo just yet, but I would like my font on my homepage to show up like these two examples. Any way that I can do this, what are my options? Thanks.

      Hey,

In order to do that you will need to use some editing software of sort.

You need to create your logo and save it as a GIF file with a transparent background.

      What is a GIF file?

How do you make a transparent image?

I hope this helps, let us know if you have anymore questions!

All the best, Dean - Wix Team

Hello everyone.  The correct answer was given by Ritti.  If you have an image from AI (Adobe Illustrator) and it was exported with a transparent background, the Wix Editor, by default, gives it a background.  (I thought this was silly too)

    Here is what Ritti said:

    Hi,

Click on the picture -> "Change Style" -> "Edit Style" -> choose the first skin called "No Skin Photo".

Let us know if you still have difficulties with that issue.

    Best, Ritti

That's all you have to do!  EASY!

(BTW, the best reply chosen by the team is correct, but I think they could have used their perceptive powers and see that most people just want their finished image to have a transparent background like the originally intended.)

    opaque box
Opaque Box Does Not Appear On Live Site

I have used boxes with 75% opacity as a background for each of my text boxes. In preview, the opaque box appears, but in the live version, only the solid white outline of the opaque box appears. I have deleted and added back boxes, saved and re-published, but the opaque box still does not appear. Thanks.

      Hi,

I merged your post to our main thread regarding this topic.

The white outline you are referring to is the background of your original image.

In your gallery, you changed the image borders to be rounder so that they hide most of your white background but some of it still appears.

You can find more information on how to create a transparent background for your images in the Best Reply above.

Hi - I followed the instructions to download an image (in this case the transparent logo on my site) to my computer. It worked but did not save it in the appropriate file type. This is the only copy of my logo that I have and I would like to save it so I can reuse it. Can you please help me troubleshoot?

      Hey,

Depends what program you are using, but most of the times you can "save as" the image again and change the file type.

Please let us know if you require further assistance.
