It's not a technical problem. I just want to know if text can be set to semi transparent - so, for instance, a word can be placed over an image. I suppose that's why web designers use code as apposed to templates. There is a lack of functionality. Like the impossibility of changing backgrounds foe each page if required.

I have tried getting round the transparent text problem by using gifs of the lettering. This however, does not seem to work either as when placed over an image the text becomes solid!. I need to be able to create a gallery of key words that scroll across the background or an image. Any ideas?

.gif files do not always deliver on their transparency. There are two ways to create an image with a transparent background that you can try:

      1. Starting from scratch:

Within Photoshop, click on  File > New.

In the Background Contents field, choose 'Transparent'.

You are free to design whatever elements you require (text, shapes, lines, etc) and they will appear with a transparent background.

When you're done,  'Save for Web' as a .png file.

      2. Existing Image

Within Photoshop, select the part of the image that you want and copy it. Paste it into a new page in Photoshop. There, double click on the Background to edit the name, and change the opacity to 0%.

After you've done this, you should see a checkered box for the background. Then, click on 'Save for Web' and make sure to save it as a .png file.

Finally, upload it to your Wix editor!

Please also make sure that the image has no skin. Click the image -> "Change Style" -> "Edit Style" -> choose the first skin called "No Skin Photo".

thanks but it's the lettering I need semi transparent - on a clear background (which is what I set anyway...)

Make sure you didn't select a skin for the photo - this is usually the case if you've set the background transparent and it didn't work.

    Gallery Images

Perhaps you can help on this problem. I'm trying to create a gallery of quotes on a page. To do this I have to set the text in Photoshop and save as transparent background white lettering gifs to upload into my Wix image library. I first choose a file size, create layers and on each, set text in exactly the same starting position. I then save each quote layer as a separate gif. This should mean all appear in the gallery in the same position when uploaded. However, what happens is that some become enlarged, some appear at different positions. What's happening here? Any ideas?

Hi I'm looking to upload a gallery with an animated grid.

I'd like my images to not be cropped in the main page, I've been through the setting but I can't find the way to do it.

If I was making a grid gallery I'd have the option "Image scaling" --fit.

How can I have it in a  gallery with animated grid, please?

      Hi,

Unfortunately, it is not possible to update '"Image scaling" .

In order to prevent your images from cropping, you will need to upload images in the exact size they will appear within the gallery.

To determine the gallery size, you can use the Ruler:

You will be able to find the ruler within the top toolbar.

      Hi Hilla,

To remove the titles simply click on the gallery followed by organize images (as seen in the screen shot). Once the pop up window appears you will see that the image title is where the file name is. For each of your images you can delete this title and when you are done click ok. Be sure to save your changes when you are done.

      All the best, Ellie
