We're wanting to expand the description on our gallery by added a bio for each of the pictures. But the description allowance is only 74 words. We'd like to be able to expand the image out and have the bio beneath within the gallery. Is there a way for us to change layout? We're using the Slideshow Gallery. I'd like the images to be able to pop out like they do now but have a larger description area.

Unfortunately this isn't currently possible when using the Wix Editor - there's a limit on the amount of text you can add to an image as its description.

You can try using any of the third-party galleries we offer at the Wix App Market - you can find additional information here.

Can you suggest something that might work instead? I want each photo to have a bio to go along with it. Whether it's linked from the original page and then opens up in another page would be fine too. I just need the steps on how to make that happen or an app that I'd be able to put in on a page instead.

      Hi ramblerir,

You can create a page for each image description, and then link each image in the gallery to its corresponding page from the Organize Images window. For information add a link to an image in a gallery, click here

You can hide the image description pages from your menu by clicking on the settings button (gear icon) next to each page (from the Pages tab in your editor menu).

I am sorry to hear that you are having difficulty changing the display of the description for the items on your page. To change the skin of the products on your page:

Click on the products---> Then click Change Style--->click next to Frame tab Edit Style---> then change to the desired Skin.

If you have any other questions or concerns please feel free to contact us

I am having real problems with the image description in galleries. I have a gallery set in 'Large grid' and also one in 'Grid' with expand mode on - in both, the image description is cut off a bit when viewed in the normal mode. I am only getting one line of the description (there should be two lines).

    Thanks very much, Katie

I've corrected this for you by changing the columns settings to two as you only have two images in the gallery and by stretching the gallery slightly until the entire description appeared. You also have the option of choosing a smaller font.

Take a look and let us know should you require further assistance.

      Hi Ron,

I still need further assistance. How did you stretch the gallery? It doesn't seem to work for me... When I stretch it the picture grows in size but the font stays hidden. How do I choose a smaller font for captions? Thanks.

To edit your font's size please select your gallery and choose 'change style' -> edit style-> and in this window you'll be able to choose your font size.

Please note that changing to 'Body S' resolved this issue on my end.

Another thing you can choose is different gallery skins with which to display your description.

Give it a shot and let us know if you require any further assistance.

To find the URL of an image stored on your site, simply right click on the image on your site-->view image info-->image location-->copy this link.

How do I make the text always appear (instead of when hovering) and have all the text show of the title/description when using the "Church Site' Template?

If you would like your image to be permanently accompanied by text, please consider simply adding text boxes in front of your image and grouping them and your image within a box.

    Hi guyneedham,

The titles and descriptions you're entering are not saved with the image itself, their purpose is to describe that particular photo in that specific location.

In a lonely picture the title is shown only when hovering over the picture

Don't hesitate to contact us again.

    Hi there,

This may sound like a dumb question, but are the image titles and descriptions I enter into a gallery then kept / fed back into my overall image library i.e. saved with the respective image? The reason I ask is that when I add the same image to more than one gallery it seems I need to enter the title and description all over again... or am I doing something wrong?

    Thanks for your help,

I am afraid that this is not possible at the moment. You can set your texts to appear when hovering over the images with your mouse or to always appear, but there is no way to not show the text at all.

Hi there, I am having troubles removing the text off my gallery images. I want the text to show up only in expand mode. I've done what I can to even match the text and title "Opacity" to match the background mouse over "Opacity" and the text still appears much more solid and visible.

Change Style > Edit Style.. Still even changing everything to zero Opacity it all shows.

I know HTML5  is still in Beta so maybe this has something to do with it, but I don't like the way it looks. Help!

Please note: Probably the gallery is too small therefore you can see only one line.

If you expand the gallery size within your page you will see more description will show.

Please send us the name of the site you are referring to so we can check your gallery settings and give you a more specific answer.

    Thank you,
