      The size limits are:
      Pics: 10MB/.jpg, .png, and .gif
      Docs: 10MB/files
      Music: 10MB/.mp3

Unfortunately, there is no way of increasing them.

To ensure that you maintain the quality of your photos and decrease loading time to a minimum when uploading to Wix, please follow the guidelines here - this should resolve the quality issues you were mentioning.

You can find more information about how to upload pictures here.

dear yoav, let it be more simple. could you please explain how wix handle a 100% jpeg. as you know png size is too big, i want to use jpeg and i simply want to decide how much i want to compress my jpeg files. and i can do it on my computer, why wix re-compress even my compressed files ?

    • Yoav Wix Team

Replied by Yoav December 15, 2013

This is done automatically by the upload mechanism. You can bypass it by uploading progressive JPEGs to your site - additional information can be found here.

dear dean, i wrote already that png is too big to use. but now i understand you can't upload a healty looking jpeg to wix. i'm very dissapointed but it's your company, your decision.

dear dean, at least would you please let me know; if i use a third party image slider, html5 or jquery or whatever, will wix compress my jpegs the same way or not.

please let me know that asap so i can answer my client.

      thank you

      Hi @ muratedip,

If you embed an external image Slider using an Html code, it will display as-is, and Wix will not compress any of the images.

With the HTML App you can test and add your own HTML code to your Wix site.

For more information check out the tutorial below, or you can click here.

*Take a minute to read through the Known Issues & Limitations of the HTML iFrame/Embed App via the link above before using this.

thank you all for trying to help.

i found a way to have better jpgs when you publish the site. here's how:

if i need a 800x450px photo e.g. , i'm making it in 1600x900px size and i add a light unsharp mask. then upload it and use it in 800x450px size. the file size is for times bigger naturally when you upload but anyway you still get the same massive compression when you publish it and get again a very small size jpg. so why do this way ?

because this time at least the photos are CRISPIER and has less compression traces.

      maybe it helps some people.

      thank you again

I need some major help with the slide show on the front page of my website.  It does not look good!  I wan the image size for the slide show to remain as is, however you will find it cuts the heads off of many of my pictures.  I have tried crop, and fit to width is much to large.  I tried to resize the images and then uploaded them again and they are still being cut off.  What should I do? What size do the photos need to be?

Thank you for contacting Wix support!

Please choose your picture > resize the edges as you like. Please note: Changing the size of the photo in the editor can reduce the quality of the photo.

You can find more information about how to upload a picture here .

We recommend that you upload your image to your site at the same size that you plan for the image to be displayed. For more information about improving your image quality, click  here.

Unfortunately, currently the Slideshow gallery offers only Crop or Fit to Width. My recommendation is to manually edit the image (using Photoshop for example) and resize it so it will be in the same dimensions as the rest of the images in the gallery.

You can use Gimp, which is open source and doesn't cost any money.

You can try to re-size it to half its size and see if this is enough to keep all the image inside the frame.

How can I embed an mp3 file without using SoundCloud? I have a lot of audio files I need to link to. All of them exceed the limit to upload directly and I have too many to put them all on SoundCloud. Can I just embed my own link without using that app? Thanks!

There are three options to add music:

      1. Add an mp3 Audio Player via "Add" -> "Media" -> "Audio Player". The maximum upload file size is 10MB. For more information click here.

      2. You can share your SoundCloud music on your site and customize your SoundCloud player from the SoundCloud Settings window. For instructions about how to add SoundCloud Audio click here.

To add a SoundCloud Playlist click here.

      3. Add an iTunes button to your site and give your users the option of downloading your chosen tracks directly from iTunes.

You can also use the HTML App.  With the HTML App you can test and add your own HTML code to your Wix site. For more information check out the tutorial below, or you can click here.

I'm confused - I upload images for my blog posts and I just want the thumbnail image - that's FINE - but when single blog posts display, it's a HUGE picture and the image is grainy because it's not meant for a BIG picture. How can I set the single blog posts to display a pic that is perhaps 200x200 and not so HUGE?

    • dinamiso Wix Team

Replied by dinamiso December 10, 2013

Unfortunately, it is not possible to change the size of the single post image.

If the image is blurry, you will need to upload a bigger size image to Wix editor.

I would like to use text and pictures of my presentation. Is it possible to add a .pdf or .pptx to the website?  The point is not to upload it as a file, but to read it.
