I have 1600 x 1274 jpg image that looks fine in Photoshop. I follow the steps from your site and the image is not as sharp, Also I made sure the image size in image settings (along the bottom - w h ) was the same as image however, if I click Edit Image it tells me the image is 1500 x 1194. I download the same image from Wix editor opened in Photoshop and it looks fine and at the original size - 1600 x 1274

    Please Advise

    Hey guy's

I upload images to my site as PNG ( according your guidelines) the image size is 1080*720.

The advantage is that the pictures are very sharp compared to the same picture but in JPEG.

The disadvantage is that each image (in PNG) is more than 4 mega (Compared to 700-800 KB in JPEG) what makes the site to be heavy and slows its load.

    Any Recommendations?

      Hi Debora,

I read the link and I followed the guidelines and even wrote that I worked According to them. If you have not read my post I would like you to read it again before you write a Comment. refer me to a link and dismiss yourself from answering it is not polite!

I look at the websites of other photographers, their images size is very small indicating that they keep them in JPEG. I talked to a few and they really upload them in JPEG.

If I upload an image in JPEG to your site the image quality is Terrible(by the way in my computer the same JPEG is in very good quality).  Look for yourself, in my account has two sites, enter the website which is under construction and go to "צילום אדריכלות" tab. for the experiment I uploaded 2 pictures only. the measurements are Identical (1080*720), one in jpeg and one in PNG format.

The JPEG looks bad! and the PNG graet.

Does in you site JPEG photos must look bad and basically you are forcing me to use a format Burden the site?

Is there an option that the JPEG will look like it is on my computer?

I could only find minor differences between the two photos and even those I had to look hard for, but perhaps my eye is untrained.

You can apply various methods to compress your image size down.

Could you please elaborate on the quality differences you observe?

      hi Shai.

First of all thanks for the response.

Note that where the roof runs out and start the sky. The picture is not smooth there.

Here is the picture itself (JPEG version). see it in your computer how she looked before uploading it to the site. try to upload it to my site and see for yourself how the quality decreases.

Here is the same pic (jpeg) but in full size.

Perform the experiment yourself and see for yourself.

As you pointed out, each format has its advantages and disadvantages. The PNGs do look much better. As for their size - the sharper an image is, the more it weights. Unfortunately, there isn't much that can be done.

However, different software give different outcome. Try using another software to compress or resize your PNGs.

If you have any further questions, don't hesitate to ask

I didn't pointed out that fact you do.

In my computer the image in PNG or in JPEG are Identical, the problem occurs just when I uplaod the image (in JPEG) to your site.

So I'll ask again, could be a situation that JPEG will look good on your WIX platform as it appears on my computer?

Have you followed the guidelines in Improving Image Quality

If you have and you still feel that your image is not in the best quality, please give us a link to the image in the live site so we can look into it.

      Hi natty,

Have you read all the above? because I have the feeling that I repeat myself...

Look for your self and tell me if my JPEG image is not in the best quality. compare it to the PNG image. now after you see it for yourself and after you read all the above look inside the link

here is the picture itself (the same JPEG version that I upload to the site). see it in your computer how she looked before uploading it to the site. (Sharp without any problem)

Now try to upload it to the site and see for yourself how the quality decreases.

I'm sorry for all the back and forth..

Please note that for performance reasons, when uploading images to Wix they will get downsized a bit.

The process is automatic and there's not much we can do about it.

Note that I checked both images and for my eyes there's no difference.

You can try to downsize the image yourself a bit before uploading to Wix and that may look better to you.

If you require further assistance, feel free to contact us again.

"Storage Service Could Not be Reached"

I'm trying to upload an image that is a 2.2mb jpg, but it keeps failing and giving me the message "Storage Service Could Not be Reached". I've successfully uploaded larger files and other jpgs since, so it's not that my storage is full.

Any ideas?? This is kinda urgent! And it apparently takes weeks to talk to a person at Wix!

This is not a file size problem and I am annoyed that it was merged with this topic. I've uploaded larger files and the file that's failing to upload is only 2.2mb far under the allowed 10mb. Please, someone answer this question!

    file size too large

I am trying to upload a pdf to my page but it is saying the file is too large. Besides lowering the file size, is there anything else I can do?

Please note that the file size limit is 10 MB and it is not possible to upload a file that exceeds this limit. However, it is possible to upload larger files using the Google Drive or Dropbox Apps.

I hope that you found this information helpful. If you have any further questions, you are welcome to contact us again.

      Thank you for your feedback.

If you would like to upload large files you can use Google Drive or the Dropbox app.

Another option is to host them externally and use the HTML app to embed them to your site or provide a direct link.

Let us know should you require any further assistance.

I've been using WIX for almost two years.  I've uploaded a few hundred images that I originally shot in j-peg; last summer I started shooting exclusively in RAW and have converted them to j-peg in post.  I have ZERO problems posting these images to my Facebook page or giving them to clients.  When I print them out they look perfect.  However, when I upload them to your site (in a size range of anywhere from 2.5mb to 9.7mb) they appear incredibly grainy (or perhaps noisy) and there seems to be no reason for it. They render the images unusable and I haven't been able to update any galleries for awhile now.

I'm considering abandoning you and finding another hosting site if this can't be fixed easily and quickly.

    What's going on?

For the best quality image, upload your image to the Wix Editor in the exact size that it will be viewed. Changing the size of the image within the Wix Editor may reduce the quality of your image.

To ensure that you maintain the quality of your photos and decrease loading time to a minimum when uploading to Wix, please follow the guidelines here.

You can find more information about how to upload pictures here.
