A header is the area of your website that appears across the top of your site and appears throughout all of your pages. The header may contain your site title, company logo and your site menu.

Note: It is not possible to delete the header from your site.

I'm having the same problem as others…header is taking up too much space and dragging the handle won't let it go past a certain point.  I'm guessing I have an element in the way, but I don't know what it is or where it is.   Wix, can you help me with this?

How do I edit the text in my header? I'm unable to select the text or get a bounding box around it.

      Hi,

This is because your text is covered by your header. To fix this, click on your header and click on the 'Move backwards' button in the menu that opens. Keep clicking on it until you can select your text and edit it.

Please note that this text isn't in your header, it is merely behind it. To place it in your header, you need to set it to appear on all pages. To do so, click on it and check the 'Show on all pages' box and drag it to your header.

It would be useful for the purpose of landing pages for the header to be "disabled" on not shown on selected pages.  This would be easier than setting each header item/component as "show on current page" for each and every page on a website.  Is this possible?

I have discovered an issue with fixing the header in position and the drop down menu buttons not working if you start to scroll down. The drop down menu buttons work so long as the page is scrolled all the way to the top, as soon as you start to scroll down, the buttons become disabled.

Troubleshooting the issue I realized it is somehow connected to the Fix header in position option. I disabled the fix header and the buttons work if I scroll up or down. (the buttons obviously only work if they are visible on the screen either way)

    Can you help?

      Hi,

I have tested your site with the fixed header on Chrome and Firefox and did not experience any issue with the dropdown menu.

While browsing on the web, your computer and browser stores various information. This build up of information can sometimes cause conflict.

I have a header, footer and side bars created by an external designer and I would like to add them to replace the existing ones.
I am using the 'Fly Fishing' template.  How do I do this please?

      Hi,

Unless they are images, in which case you can simple add them as image and cover the space you wish - this isn't possible. Only elements designed in the editor can show up on your site (or otherwise be embedded using the HTML app. An answer to this topic can be found in What is the HTML App?)

I can't view all of my site

People are reporting that they can't see the bottom of my website. They can't scroll down either and the Buy button doesn't look right

      Hi fortifiednready,

I see two problems in your site. The first is that you have placed majority of your content (with the black background) inside your header. Please see the interactive tutorial in the Best Reply above to learn more about how your site should be structured.

The second problem is that you have set your header to a "Fixed Position". Normally, this would cause your header to appear in the same place on your page as you scroll down, however since your header is quite large, it covers the rest of the page.

To resolve these problems, I suggest that you start by unchecking the "Fixed Position" option for your header in the header settings window. After that, you can start to move your content down to the Page section of your site.

If you need any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us again.

      - Regards, Carley

What is the easiest way to keep the header the way I have it on the first page but narrow the height on all the other pages and get it to stay that way?

I recommend setting the header as light as possible, while adding extra elements to specific pages.

I'm trying to create as clean a look as I can but still remain artistic.  I want just a portion of the header from the main page to be at the top of all the other pages.

Hi! I am creating a new site and can't get my header the right size. It wouldn't allow me to shrink it/ bring it up so that it doesn't occupy so much space on the page.  How do I narrow it?

    Thanks

      Hello,

In order to shrink your header, you need to move the title you put in it away from the bottom edge.

Once you have space between the title and the bottom edge of the header you will be able to drag the edge up and make the header smaller.

You should be all set after that!

Should you have any further questions, please let us know! Thanks, Customer Solutions
