One of the cool new features in the Wix HTML editor is that the height of the pages in your website is not a predetermined size.

Your pages will adjust their height dynamically according to the content that you add to them. If you add more text or components, your pages will become longer in order to accommodate anything that you add. Simply drag the bottom-most component in your page downwards in order to extend the height of that page.  To shorten your page, click the element on the page that is too long and, at the bottom of the selected element, you will see an icon with an arrow on it called the Stretch Handle. This allows you to shorten or lengthen your page manually. Simply click and drag it up or down to change the length of your element and the page.

Currently, the width of your site is fixed at 980px. This size was chosen in order to accommodate the largest number of internet users that will be visiting your site. This is common for the new generation of sites, as it ensures compatibility with the many different smart devices being used today (i.e. iPad users) where you only scroll up or down.

    Hi,

I started a website before the changes that allow the page to stretch as you add content. When I stretch the page, it changes the layout on my page. Is there a way that I can move the content on my already published site to the newer version?

      Hey,

Your site was created with a different editor and a different technology - Flash.

Please note that using an older technology, such as Flash, is less recommended.
HTML is a much superior technology which offers numerous advantages.
The most important one is that FLASH is not supported by Apple devices (iPhones, iPads etc), so people trying to visit your site from Apple devices will not be able to view the full site.
      Other advantages include:
      1. Better SEO (the technique used for ranking and finding your site in search engines such as Google and Bing).
      2. App Market (wonderful array of 3rd party applications to enhance your website and provide useful tools for you).
      3. HTML is faster
      4. Site history (the option to revert the site in case you made a mistake)

      5. An amazing new mobile editor and the Mobile action bar

HTML is a cutting edge technology which we are working to enhance and improve all the time, and add new and exciting features!

    Website not scaling properly

Hi, I set up my site to look great at 1920x1080 but if the screen is any different it will not automatically adjust like most other websites. It also will not adjust when the user zooms in. Is this possible? I see some old tutorials that mention "best fit" but this does not seem to be available on the new editor.

    Thanks

You can design your site outside of the 980px borders, however, we recommend that anything that you add outside of these borders be mainly decorative and not vital content to your visitors' browsing experience.

Hi, I have a problem with an unnecessary space below the footer of all pages. Could you help me fix the problem?

      Hi,

You have to drag the upper handle bar in the footer up - this will resolve the issue.

      Best, Ritti

      Hi Ritti,

It seems like dragging the upper handle doesn't do anything with page1, and it also doesn't delete the white space below the footer of all pages. Any other way to solve this?

      Thanks!

Please note I was able to drag up the footer in your Portfolio page. I saved the changes but didn't publish.

As for the white space below the footer - this is a permanent margin that can't be eliminated.

      Itamar,

I think you messed up my navigation bar when you tried to fix the footer. Now it's not aligned anymore. Can you fix the navigation bar? Also, I still don't understand what you mean by it's "a permanent margin that can't be eliminated", because I've seen templates without space below the footer, such as a template called "Strategic Management" in Adevertising&Marketing category. It's not like the space I'm seeing in edit screen won't show on the actual page when I publish, right?

your website is not published so we'll have to wait for it to be publish first.

regrading to the header, what do you mean by no aligned? do you mean to the text that makes the logo?

Hello, I have a problem on my site. I selected one of your templates called clothes online. The pink bar that goes left to right doesn't fit into a single page so I have to scroll marginally from left to right when the site is being previewed/viewed online.

How can I edit this as I gather the page widths are predetermined. I have tried selecting and moving the bar to reduce it's width but have been unsuccessful.

    Many thanks,

    Jon

Hi please see above image taken from the published view. There is a white margin down the right side that means you have to scroll to the right to see the whole webpage, it doesn't appear to fit in one view as the previous templates I have used have done. Can you help?

      Hey,

The gap is not caused by the strip element, but due to the image expanded beyond the gridlines, as you can see from my screenshot:

      Hi Claire,

Thank you for your response. I have tried to move the elements accordingly, however

it seems I cannot resize the page upwards as there are no "handles" to do this.

Any ideas? I'm really stuck :(

      Thank you.

      Hey,

You designed your website's layout incorrectly. Some of your elements are inside the header and some are floating between the header and the page body. You can see my screenshot for clarification:

I understand this, However when I try and drag the page handle up to meet with the header

it will not allow me to drag it into place. I have moved all elements out of the header intio the page workspace and have used ctrl M to find missing elements, there are none.

Please help as I am now nearl.y bald and the hair that I have pulled out is piling up around the office :))

      Hey morgalor1102,

I checked your site 'tzomet-limudim' via editor and I was unable to see any gap between your pages and footer. Does this appear on a specific page? Do you see this from preview mode?

Please elaborate on this issue so we can further assist.

Hello, I am also having difficulty with my website "automatically" going to the right site length depending on the page.  I have the same footer across my entire site, but I think it's not changing height size accordingly, particularly on the homepage, activities page (it's most obvious there).

I have uploaded a screenshot. My site is www.scholasticstoryhour.com

    Thank you!

      Hey,

I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing difficulties.

Please note that your page's height will change to accommodate the content you have added.

The footer is a dynamic component the positions itself according the amount of content in your page component.

For example, you have some pages which have more text, meaning the page component is taller/longer, therefore the footer will place itself below the page component.

I have visited your site and I could see that not all your pages have the same height.

To check your page height, simply click on your page component and at the bottom, you should see the dimensions (width and height).

Also, I can see that your content is not directly placed within the page's borders.

The first thing you should do is drag the content correctly within the page and drag your footer to the top

Please use CTRL + M to find your footer and also some invisible elements on your page that can block the footer from moving as you can see in the attached screenshot below.

For more information about organizing your pages, click here or check out our interactive site about header, page and footer (simply click on the image below):
