One of the features of a Wix site is that the height of the site's pages does not have a predetermined size. Your pages will adjust their height dynamically according to the content that you add to them. If you add more text or elements, your pages will become longer in order to accommodate them.

To make your page longer, click the element located at the bottom of your page (or any element that you'd like to move downward) and drag if down using the Drag Handle.

To shorten your page, click the element located at the bottom of your page, and resize it using the Stretch Handle or drag it upwards using the Drag Handle.

Currently, the width of your site is fixed at 980px. This size was chosen in order to accommodate the largest number of internet users that will be visiting your site. This is common for the new generation of sites, as it ensures compatibility with the many different smart devices being used today (i.e., iPads or tablets).

    changing the size of the'page'

Hi, I would like to change the size of the page, I can see when I click on page settings at the bottom of the popup window are the gridline sizes. Is there anyway of changing them, I would like to change the width to 880, therefore 50 off each side to make it narrower. I would also like to shorten the header and footer if possible. So that it all fits on one page without having to scroll down to see the bottom.

    Thankyou

You guys have been amazing so far, quick, concise and helpful.

      Hi deb83,

It is not possible to change the width of the gridlines, but you can design your site however you decide. If you prefer to leave space on the sides, you are welcome to make your elements smaller so that they fit in a smaller space.

With regards to the header and footer, you can also decide on the placements of these. I see that you have already placed them so that you can see the whole page without having to scroll.

I have merged your post to the relevant thread. Please see the Best Reply for more information. If you have any further questions, please let us know.

      Hi,

I have dragged the footer up as much as possible. Please try to keep the page structure organized so the site will function properly.

An answer to this topic can be found in Is there a limit to the page length?

      Best, Ritti

      Hi,

The issue with this site is that all your page components are inserted in the header, and the footer elements are inserted within the main page.

Wix pages are comprised of 3 parts and in this site these parts are mixed up, therefore you'll need to sort it out in order for the design to fit your needs

A header is the area of your website that appears across the top of your site and appears throughout all of your pages.
The header may contain your site title, company logo and your site menu.

Please note: it isn't possible to delete the header from your site.

      Hi,

Thank you for contacting the Wix support team.

This has happened because a hidden line was in the way. I have found it by toggling your editor with ctrl + m.

I have saved the changes. You can go ahead and publish these changes.

Please don't hesitate to contact us again.

Hi, I have deleted some content from my homepage but the sizing has not automatically reflected that so there is a large empty space before you get to the footer and I would like to get rid of it.  Please advise.

      Hey  beaumontpau3,

I checked your site via editor and I can see the items placed at the bottom part of your page are not attached to your footer or page. Please make sure to attach the elements to certain page parts.

A footer is the area of your website that appears across the bottom of your site and appears throughout all of your pages.
The footer may contain your contact information, copyright information or your social media icons.

      Hi

Can you be more specific?  I have checked all the items I can see in the homepage, and everything above or below the central page lines comes up as "show on all pages", which I understand to mean it will be the header or the footer.  I can't see anything else to delete in the page section.

      Regards

      Hi Paul,

As you can see in the screenshot below, the Pages section is the mid section of your page, where you have placed the slideshow Gallery, button etc.

However, the text and items below this section (i.e the PayPal option etc.) are below the pages section, and above the footer as you can see in the second screenshot. Please make sure to drag all these items to the footer (as i'm assuming is where you've originally intended for them to be). You can select a number of elements by holding CTRL+left mouse click.

I hope this clears things up. If you have any additional questions feel free to ask!

Thanks Ron. Can you please let me know if I was doing something wrong, or was it a glitch in the system?

Also, I'm having trouble adding a footer to my website. When I try to add an element or text, it automatically goes in the body of website. If you can provide an answer for this, then we can cancel the phone appointment I have with Wix on Monday.

      Hi,

Usually this gap appear when adding elements between the header an page area.

It is very important to attach elements to the right area: Header. Page , Footer.

In order to make sure you have properly attached the element to the area, please drag the elements to the area until you will see a dotted line and one of the labels: Header/Page/Footer.

For more information about the page manager click here or check out our interactive site about header, page and footer (simply click on the image below):

.To add elements to the footer, click on the element to open its  Settings  and check the box at the bottom next to  Show on all pages , then drag and drop the element onto the footer.

Hi there, I have a similar issue. I deleted an element on my site and instead of the height adjusting back to a smaller size it just left a large space between the page and the footer. How can I fix this? I tried dragging the footer up but it won't budge and it's not set to fixed position either. Any hints will help. Thank you!

      Hi jasminmarsters,

I'm glad to hear that you managed to find the problematic element. In future, if you have trouble finding an element, you can locate all the elements on the page by holding down the "Ctrl" key and pressing "M" to move from element to element.

Gridlines appear inside your editor to help you build your site's layout. Currently your site is fixed at 980px in order to accommodate the largest number of internet users that will be visiting your site. You will want to place all of your site's content inside the Gridlines to ensure its compatibility across different browsers and devices.

Checkout the video below to learn more about our Gridlines feature that will help you with your site's layout.

The gridlines do not appear on your live site - they are there as a guide that can help you map and design your site better. To remove the gridlines, simply click on the gridlines icon from the top menu.
