One of the cool new features in the Wix HTML editor is that the height of the pages in your website is not a predetermined size.

Your pages will adjust their height dynamically according to the content that you add to them. If you add more text or components, your pages will become longer in order to accommodate anything that you add. Simply drag the bottom-most component in your page downwards in order to extend the height of that page.  To shorten your page, click the element on the page that is too long and, at the bottom of the selected element, you will see an icon with an arrow on it called the Stretch Handle. This allows you to shorten or lengthen your page manually. Simply click and drag it up or down to change the length of your element and the page.

Currently, the width of your site is fixed at 980px. This size was chosen in order to accommodate the largest number of internet users that will be visiting your site. This is common for the new generation of sites, as it ensures compatibility with the many different smart devices being used today (i.e. iPad users) where you only scroll up or down.

Hi there, I have a similar issue. I deleted an element on my site and instead of the height adjusting back to a smaller size it just left a large space between the page and the footer. How can I fix this? I tried dragging the footer up but it won't budge and it's not set to fixed position either. Any hints will help. Thank you!

nevermind! there was a piece of text hidden in the same color as my background that caused the footer to stay down there. Sorry!

      Hi jasminmarsters,

I'm glad to hear that you managed to find the problematic element. In future, if you have trouble finding an element, you can locate all the elements on the page by holding down the "Ctrl" key and pressing "M" to move from element to element.

If you need any further assistance, please let us know.

      - Regards, Carley

Gridlines appear inside your editor to help you build your site's layout. Currently your site is fixed at 980px in order to accommodate the largest number of internet users that will be visiting your site. You will want to place all of your site's content inside the Gridlines to ensure its compatibility across different browsers and devices.

Checkout the video below to learn more about our Gridlines feature that will help you with your site's layout.

The gridlines do not appear on your live site - they are there as a guide that can help you map and design your site better. To remove the gridlines, simply click on the gridlines icon from the top menu.

    Hi Wix Team,

I'm having a similar issue as someone who posted previously.

"At the end of my pages, there is huge empty space which makes my  pages look pretty ugly as scrolling keeps going too much. What I wanna do is, if possible, to set length of each pages separately ( I want them to be shorter basically) so that the scrolling will end at the end of the page content in every single page...

For ex, my home page fits to one screen size but scrolling continues maybe 1 screen size more...Making the page longer is easy but, can't do it shorter that easy

    Help please

    Thanks,

    Kursad"

My issue is with my homepage, the footer is set about 5 pages down from where my information ends, leaving about 3 full print pages of blank space.  I've tried countless times to fix this myself but if you guys could offer any assistance that would be incredible.  The issue is just with my homepage, the rest of the site functions just fine and I am very pleased with it.  The homepage however has this issue of the giant margin with blank space that I feel doesn't look entirely professional as the rest of the site does.

Any help or information is welcome!  Thanks guys, this is my first support issue with Wix.

hi everybody ! I have a question... I just created my page on an Imac, and I realise that it doesn't look the same on my notebook.... Is it possible to create a wix website which adapt automatically its size depending on the computer you open it. Cuz if I adapt it on my notebook, its too small on my Imac... and if I adapt it to my Imac its to big on my notebook... I would like it to fit perfectly on each computer !!!!! :(

      Hi,

Unfortunately, we currently don't offer responsive site templates. We do however have a great responsive solution for mobile devices. Click here for more information or watch the video tutorial below.

      Hey,

I have located the issue on your site and fixed it.

The issue there was simply that your footer was at the bottom of the page making it very long.

A footer is the area of your website that appears across the bottom of your site and appears throughout all of your pages.
The footer may contain your contact information, copyright information or your social media icons.

      Hello!

A header is the area of your website that appears across the top of your site and appears throughout all of your pages.
The header may contain your site title, company logo and your site menu.

Please note that we do not recommend placing the contents of your page in your header:

    Hi Wix team,

I'm having some trouble with sizing of my site. There is a big gap in the header with no visible content making it that way.

As well as this, there is missing content from the home page which disappeared when I tried to edit text and I cannot get it back.

Any help with how to fix this would be appreciated.

    Hi Team Wix,

I'm trying to display my home page so that it fits on one screen and requires no scrolling. I seemed to have it done yesterday on Firefox but not on Chrome and now its not displaying correct on either!

Is there an optimum number of pixels that I should aim to fit everything in, height-wise? It is important to keep the strip slideshow.

There also appears to be that issue of the white gap below the footer too - I'm aware that its a bug, but it was displaying on Chrome, but not Safari & Firefox. Just flagging that FYI.

      Hi,

The site on my computer displayed without the need to scroll.

Please note that your pointing configuration in your registrar (not Wix, but your actual domain host) is incorrect.
To fix this, please follow the instructions here

      Best, Ritti
