One of the cool new features in the Wix HTML editor is that the height of the pages in your website is not a predetermined size.

Your pages will adjust their height dynamically according to the content that you add to them. If you add more text or components, your pages will become longer in order to accommodate anything that you add. Simply drag the bottom-most component in your page downwards in order to extend the height of that page.  To shorten your page, click the element on the page that is too long and, at the bottom of the selected element, you will see an icon with an arrow on it called the Stretch Handle. This allows you to shorten or lengthen your page manually. Simply click and drag it up or down to change the length of your element and the page.

Currently, the width of your site is fixed at 980px. This size was chosen in order to accommodate the largest number of internet users that will be visiting your site. This is common for the new generation of sites, as it ensures compatibility with the many different smart devices being used today (i.e. iPad users) where you only scroll up or down.

My site grid lines just changed.....   the portion for the header is now extremely long (Same width) and I don't know what I did to create this issue.       I can't find a way to change the grid line structure back to the way it was.     Is there anyone that can help advise me on this issue?

      Hi,

To change the header's size, you can use the strech handle!

Please let us know which one of your sites you are referring to so we can further assist.

"Currently, the width of your site is fixed at 980px."

This is intensely irritating for display on 1920 x 1080 screens. Using automatic window arrangement (left/right hand half of screen) and viewing pages at 100% results in a pointless out-of-view side area with a side scroll bar displayed.

For companies targeting people behind real computers, it would be great to enable variable width pages so we can lose the side-scroll bar.

    Thanks.

While adding content to my page, the page extended. However the preset footer that came with the layout did not move and is not stuck in its original position on every page.  How can I get it moved?  I am not finding any helpful information on how to resolve the problem on the site.

    Thanks

    Hi there,

I have a large area of blank space at the bottom of my site that I cannot seem to remove.

I followed the instructions regarding locating a possible hidden element, but it didn't reveal anything from the home page. Does it mean I have to go through each page separately if it's not an element that appears on every page?

It seems to have happened since I added a blog via html today (blog.cruiseweddingplanners.net)

    The site is cruiseweddingplanners.net

    Thanks for you help!

      Hi,

I visited your website and was unable to see the white space below the footer, see screenshot below:

Please provide us with a screen shot of the problem. For instructions on how to take a screenshot, please use this link.

To upload the screenshot, simply click on the "Upload" button and follow the steps.

The excess space or gap between your footer and page content might be caused by a hidden element.

To access this element: In the Wix Editor, select any element on your site and hold down the "Ctrl" key and press "M" to toggle through the elements on your page until the element is selected. Once you have selected this element, you can either delete it or move it upward.

Only once the element has been moved or deleted, can the footer can be adjusted to remove the gap.

We are here should you require further assistance

      Many thanks, Barrios

      Hi there,

      Thanks for your reply.

I'm wondering if you actually read my question!!!

It's not WHITE space - it's the blank space between the main body of the site and the footer.

      I did upload a screenshot!

I did already look for the hidden element!

    Hi,

How do I get rid of the excess space on the sides of my "page" section? It doesn't conform to the rest of my page layout format, and I can't seem to do anything to it. When I preview my website it just shows white empty spaces surrounding the page section. Please let me know what I can do to change this.

    Thanks,

    Hannah

The white areas on the sides are not those in which something happened, they are areas with which you didn't do anything. Add a background image to your website so the sides are not blank. Do so through the Design button on the left tool bar.

    Hi,

I am trying to reduce the space between my Pages and Header/Footer on all my pages. Zeroing out the y axis does not work. Any suggestions to allow me to determine the gaps I want?

      Hi,

In order to resize the header, you will need to drag all the elements you have added to the header to the top of your site.

      For example:

Once you will move the elements to the top, you will be able to resize the header by moving the header handle.

Regarding the footer, please keep in mind: the minimum height size you can set for your pages is 500 px.

    Hi there,

I need help!! My website seems to have moved everything down by 8 inches. There is a blank space at the top of each and every page, and I can't make it disappear. How can I fix this?

    Thanks!

Hi Again, ok somehow it moved up a bit, but I still have 1 or 2 inches of blank space between the header and the first element in every page.  There seems to be a gridline in there that is causing this.  How can I get rid of the gridline?

      Thanks again,

      Hi,

The Y axis coordinate of your pages element was wrong. I changed it to move  the pages adjacent to your header. Please take a look.

    Hi Wix Team,

I need help. If I am on a laptop the size of my websites is fine and they fit in the web browser size. But when I am on my big iMAC my website looks tiny just floating in the middle. It doesn't size proportionally to the web browser. I noticed that on the main WIX home page I can resize the screen and everything is in view when I move it to a smaller size using the corners of the web browser to shrink. My website(s) isn't really doing that, it gets cut off. How can I make sure that when someone is on a wider computer that the website will scale itself appropriately and not look floating in the middle.

Please let me know as this is the only problem I have had.

    Thank you in advance!

    Kayla :)

      Hi Kayla,

      Thank you for contacting us!

Unfortunately it is impossible to make your website responsive to different screen resolutions.

You can alternatively use a Container to make your elements adjusted to each other.

      All the best, Or
