To add elements to the header, drag and drop the element onto the header. The Show on all pages box will be checked automatically.

To add elements to the footer, click and drag the element to the bottom of the page, click the blue Move to Footer button that appears. The element will appear in the footer of all pages.

      Hi Jessica,

Thank you for contacting us. Please note that I have merged your post to a relevant topic. As explained in the best reply, you must check the box for "show on all pages" for any element you wish to add to the footer. Once you do that, you will be able to drag it onto the footer section.

Please let us know if you have any further questions we may assist you with.

      All the best, Ellie

I am having issues with the header of my website (mhphoto) at http://www.madelynhphotographics.com/ - my header is misalgining when initially viewed (see image below) however it is correct in the Wix Editor and if I refresh the site it will then correct itself. How can I fix this?

I am also wondering if it is possible to have some padding below my footer so that it will show some of the background below it on every page (like on the below screenshot, however the other pages have more content meaning the background does not show).

    Thank you in advance.

Thank you for contacting the Wix support team.

In order to assist you please clarify what exactly mean with the header misaligned?

If you wish to create more space between the page and the footer simply drag the footer down and save & publish the changes.

We are here should you require further assistance

To add elements to the footer, click on the element to open its  Settings  and check the box at the bottom next to  Show on all pages , then drag and drop the element onto the footer.

To add a Social Ba with the relevant iconsr: From the left side of the Editor, click the Add icon > click Social > click Social Bar.

Click the Social Bar to select it > click Organize Icons > from the left, select an icon > from the right, under Link to, enter your Social Media URL.

      Best regards, WIX Team.

      Hello Bender,

The answer you suggest does not explain how to simply hide the header on certain pages.

Is it actually possible to do so? I can't uncheck the 'show on all pages' button of the header elements.

      Best regards,

Unfortunately, it is not possible to hide the header from specific pages.

The header and all the content which is placed within the header will be visible through all your site pages.

I've added a photo to my header but I want to remove it, but it won't let me select it to delete it. I've looked in the header settings but there's no option for me to remove it.

Can you please help I can't get rid of it?

    Thanks, Sam

Please take a look at the tutorial above, There you can find instructions on how to move components back and forth. The reason you're unable to select the image is because the header is on the layer above it.

Let us know how it went and if you require further assistance.

Add > Shapes&Lines > Strip or Box this is my click path

My problem is that there is an empty area bottom of page when i drag elements to bottom.

In order to move elements in the footer (or header) you have to set the element as 'show on all pages' (Click on the element and select the 'show on all pages' box)

You can then move it into the footer section.

Once you publish your site the empty space underneath the footer will disappear.

Let us know if you require further assistance.

I have an image (well, it's just a box at this point) on my homepage.  It descends from the header into the body of the homepage.  How can I remove than on the subsequent pages?  Currently if I delete it from the sub pages, it removes it from all pages.  Also, if I select the "do not show on all pages option" it removes it from all pages, including my homepage.  I just want the box on the homepage in the header bar descending into the main body on the homepage only.

We can see the isssue on your site josmporter2.

In order to manage this, remove or resize the strip you have on the header (you can create a single white narrow strip and use it instead).

Then un-check the "show on all pages" on the white box.

This is will solve the problem.

It's not the bar that goes vertically across the page, it's the box on the page that hangs vertically and has the black back-to-bacl P's in the box.

Please note the image is still set to show on all pages, and is still part of the header.

Click on the image to access its settings, then un-check the "Show on all pages" box. Drag the image outside of the header.

You're not understanding the issue.  I do not want it on multiple pages.  Only the home page.  If I deselect "show on multiple pages" it also disappears from the home page.

The instructions Ella gave you are the way to do it. Make sure you're in the page you want to keep the image on when you deselect "show on all pages".

A little background: When you uncheck the box "show on all pages" the item will only be on the page you're in when you deselect the box "show on all pages". That's why you need to be in the home page when you deselect the box if you want the item to stay in the home page and not appear in other pages.

If you want us to do it for you, please provide us with a screenshot of the image.

For instructions on how to take a screenshot, please use this link.
To upload the screenshot, simply click on the "Upload" button and follow the steps.

Please note that your site is embedded to an external host.

Wix does not offer support for users who embed Wix material into external sites.

I also checked your site and couldn't recreate this issue. Could you please attach a screenshot of the problem. For instructions on how to take a screenshot, click here.
