    Good afternoon,

For quite some time I have tried everything to link image buttons to external websites. This does'nt work. I have already seen all the videos and information, and for I know, I have done exactly what I was told to do. Can you please help me, to succeed, so we can tell everybody about our site. Now companies will be unhappy because people can't come to their website adress. Please let me know a.s.a.p.

we can't seem to recreate the problem you've reported on; the links in your website are leading to third party websites as expected. for instance, by clicking on this image

      we were sent to "http://www.ueg.org/"

Can you please give us an example of a broken link in your website ?

I cannot find a way to link one of my nagivation menu buttons to an external page.
In my menu bar at the top I have:

    Home / Catalogue / Artists/ Shop / Contact

Home, catalogue, artist and Contact all link to their appropriate pages within the site,  however, I would like "SHOP" to link to an external site. I cannot find a way to do this.

Any help would be really appreciated!

      Hi Oskar,

Thank you for contacting us. Unfortunately, it is not possible to add a link from a menu item to an external URL.

However, you can do so by adding "buttons" instead of a menu to your header (virtually replacing a traditional menu).

      To add a button:

      1. From the left in the Editor, click the Add icon.

      2. From the Add list, click Buttons & Menus. Click one of the button options.

      3. From the Button Settings window, under Button Text, type a name for your button.

      4. Under Link to, click the field.

      5. From the Link Settings window that opens, click your Link type: Web Address, Page, Email or Document and add your link.

Note: For more information about adding links, see the below section, Linking Your Buttons.

      6. From the Link Settings window, click Done.

      7. Click outside of the button to close the Button Settings window.

A button is added to your site.

Note: To return to Add , click Back to Add from the top of the window. To close Add, click X from the top right.

For more information about buttons click here.

Please do not hesitate to contact us again with any questions you may have regarding this or any other matter.

      All the best, Ellie

    Wix Team-

We have a requirement to have a "speed bump" when we exit our site and go to another site.  So for example we have a button setup to go to an external site, but we need a dialog box to pop-up that says "You are leaving our site is this OK?".  Is there a way to do this within Wix Editor?

Currently we don't have this feature but we have created a workaround. Please click on the image below for instructions:

Note: After following the instructions in this workaround, in order to prevent Google search engines from penalizing your site for having duplicate content, please make sure to hide one of the duplicated pages from search engines as follows: Click the Pages icon on the left of the Editor > Click the settings wheel for one of the duplicated pages > Check the 'Hide page from search results' checkbox.

You can vote for this feature here.

I am having problems linking an external link to a button and to text.  I have tried other external links and this appears to happen to all of them.  I have saved, published and refreshed and nothing seems to work.

We've found a button with an external link and it worked fine at our end.

Are you still experiencing a problem?

If so, please elaborate what button exactly is not working/

Linking Menu Item to External URL

I have a menu item that I want to link to an external URL instead of to a page within my WIX site. I created the blank page and added it to the menu, so the Menu Name is correct. But when I click on the menu options, I don't see any prompting for "Link To" which seems to be the way to link everything else on wix, like buttons and pictures.

I also tried typing the URL into the settings are of the page for "page address" but that didn't work.

It is not possible to add a link to the external URL to Menu.
Please add "Buttons" instead of Menu in order to achieve the effect that you are looking for.
For the further instructions, please refer to the Best Reply of this thread.
      Thank you,

I want to add an online booking widget to my page so clients can book directly through my site and access all available appointments in my diary in wahanda.  Below is the code, but where can I paste this within the site to make it work, or is it impossible for wix to do at the moment?

    <script src="https://widget.wahanda.com/common/venue-menu/javascript/widget-button.js"></script> <script> (function() { var link = document.createElement("link"); link.type = "text/css"; link.href = "https://widget.wahanda.com/common/venue-menu/css/widget-button.css"; link.rel = "stylesheet"; link.media = "screen"; document.getElementsByTagName("head")[0].appendChild(link); }()); </script> <a href='http://www.wahanda.com/' id="wahanda-online-booking-widget" onclick='wahanda.openOnlineBookingWidget("http://widget.wahanda.com/place/268854/menu/"); return false;' target="_blank"> <span>Book now!</span> </a>

      Hey Clare,

Please note that it is not possible to add HTML code directly to the source code of your site, you can however use our HTML App to test and add your own HTML code to your Wix site.

For more information check out the tutorial below, or you can click here.

*Take a minute to read through the Known Issues & Limitations of the HTML iFrame/Embed App via the link above before using this.

We also have several general booking/scheduling apps available in the Wix App Market:

I am not fully sure I understand the question, if what you want to do is link a button to your HTML app it is not currently possible but  you can link a button to the page on which you have the HTML app.

Unity Web Player, does this work? has anyone tried it?

I have made a medical simulation protoype to help explain medical vernacular to the general public. I would really like to have it up and running on WIX so I can make a better looking website.

Maybe I have missed this, but how do I make a word a link, meaning, I use the word "Wikipedia" and if someone clicks on it, it goes to an outside site? In this case, it would go to Wikipedia.

    Thanks so much!

      1. Select the word in the paragraph and choose the "Link" icon from the property panel that opens.
      2. Choose "Web Address".
      3. Insert a web address, choose if you would like it to open in a new window or in the same window and click on the OK button .
