Great news, it is now possible to add anchors to your Wix site! An anchor is a position marker which allows you to link to a specific location on any of the pages of your site. Click here for a demo!

To add an anchor: From the left side of the Editor, click the Add icon > click Buttons & Menus > click Anchor.

Click the Anchor to select it > from the pop-up menu, click Settings > under Anchor Name, enter a name for your anchor > drag the anchor to the relevant location on your page.

Now you can link an element (image, button or text) to the anchor so that when the element is clicked, you are taken directly to the position on the page.

We would also like to thank you for your patience and for your great suggestions regarding this feature.

      Hi,

I was able to get to the anchor I believe you're referring to by clicking on the "GO!" button in your home page.

If you can't do this on your end, please clear your browser's cache and try again. You can find step by step instructions here.

Please let us know in case you need further assistance.

All the best, Or - Wix support team.

I don't think there is any way to get a menu bar to link to an anchor, but you could just make a fake menu with buttons, and boxes . . . and make the buttons link to the anchor. This will keep you from making sub pages though.

Ok, so maybe I didn't ask my question too clearly because my topic was merged with the topic "How do I add anchors to my Wix website?". I am very familiar with how to use the new Wix anchors feature and I'm really happy its been added! However, I have one really long page and I want to add reference spots to it (or anchors) that will allow me to have users click a page from the menu and it will automatically take them to that specific anchor on that particular long page. As stated above, I want my website to be all on one page and when people click on the menu buttons it'll just slide them down the page to a certain reference spot. I duplicated the one long page several times and gave each duplicated copy a different name so they would show up in the menu, however I wish that when a user clicks on that page on the menu, it will take them directly to that spot on the long page. I hope this makes sense...I don't know how else to explain it. Thanks!

      Hi ranalee,

I have already answered your same question in this thread.

Please refrain from posting your questions multiple times, as this makes our job of replying back to users quickly less efficient.

      Thanks,

I want to add a reference spot to my page

I want my website to be all on one page and when people click on the menu buttons it'll just slide them down the page to a certain reference spot. How do you do this in wix? I have seen this question posted before, but it was a couple of years ago....just wondering if wix had found a way yet?

    anchor and transitions

I currently have dissolves as a Page transition for menus/buttons.  Do I have to change this in order for anchors to work properly?

      Hi,

No need to change anything. The anchors should work with all the page transitions.

      Hi,

This still doesn't seem to be working and now on top of this every time I make a change or try to do an update on a page, it just cuts to a white page background and freezes up.

      Hi,

      Sorry for this inconvenience.

Please let us know, on which page is this occurring and where on the page itself are you placing your Anchor link?

      Awaiting your reply,

OK, I think I have the crashing part solved.  I am using Safari now instead of Firefox.  Still no anchor link.  I have the anchor on the "Our Work" Page (the one that has 6 videos on it).

The link is from the home page "Find out more" text.

It is still just fading through to the page when clicked on.

      Hello,

I apologize for the inconvenience this has caused. I see that the anchor leads to the Our Work page. Do you wish to change the page transition?

      Sincerely, Leah Wix Team

    scroll to top button

Is there a way to add a "scroll to top button" to a website so that users can easily make one click to go back to the top of the page instead of scrolling?

I think the main thing that we need in order to make a vertical scrolling website, is the ability for Wix to see the separation between pages while scrolling. Instead of creating pages and clicking on each individual link, which takes us to a different location, horizontally, we should be able to click on a page link and have the website scroll down to a spot on the page. If there is a way to do this please let me know as I would be very interested in it. :)

It is possible to have the website scroll down to a certain spot on the page. Please refer to the best reply in this thread.

      Best regards, WIX Team.
