You can currently only transfer domains with the following extensions: .com, .org, .net, .biz, .info, .co, .tv, .guru, .email, .expert.

 

Before transferring your domain to Wix, you will need to request an authorization code from your current domain registrar, verify that at least 60 days have passed since you registered or last transferred your domain and make sure that your domain is unlocked.

 

To transfer your domain to Wix: Sign in to your Wix account > from the top menu, hover over Subscriptions > click Domains.

Click Use a Domain You Already Own > enter your domain in the field > click Next > from the window that opens, enter the Authorization Code > click Continue > complete the steps in the domain name transfer screen.

Note: After a domain transfer is successful, your computer/browser might still be directed to the old site when you try to access the domain. This issue usually resolves itself after several days depending on the router/browser settings. In order to fix this immediately you should clear your browsers cache and flush the DNS.

 

Note: Transferring your domain to Wix is not the same as connecting your domain to your Wix site. If you would like to keep your domain with your current domain host, but connect the domain to your Wix site, please click here to learn more.

    I'm a premier Wix user.  I've submitted a transfer of a domain I own from Hover to Wix.  It has been several days and it is still pending.  Why is it taking so long?  I've been through this process before with other domain providers and the process was almost instantaneous.  Is there a step I'm missing?  The wix domain page says: "Pending Registry Approval"

      I appreciate the response.  I'm not sure how I can receive an email at stjohnnwa.org@contactprivacy.com as this is not a valid email address for me.  I have not received receive an email regarding this.  How do I change my WHOIS email address?

      Hi,

       

      Please note that before we can transfer your domain, you will need to ask your domain host to remove the privacy from your domain.

       

      Once you do that, you will have to wait for the current transfer attempt to fail and then try again.

       

      Please note that you will be refunded for the failed attempt.

      In order to transfer your domain to Wix you will have to register it for at least one year with us.

       

      This year's registration will be added on top the registration you already have.

    Hi,

    I have a co.uk domain name hosted by 1 and 1. Is there anyway it can be transferred to wix? I also have 3 email addresses associated with the domain, can these be transferred and hosted by wix?

      Unfortunately, you can currently only transfer domains with the following extensions: .com, .org, .net, .biz., .info, .co, .guru, .email, .expert, and .tv.

       

      However, you can keep the domain with its current host, and connect it to your Wix site. See instructions here.

    I am trying to transfer my GoDaddy domain over to Wix, and I have the VIP plan already with Wix but when i try to transfer it, it tells me that i still need to pay for a domain plan. Don't i get a free domain with VIP?

      Hi,

      Unfortunately, the free domain deal is only for Yearly subscribers. Since your VIP subscription is on a monthly basis, you are currently not eligible for a free domain.

      Hi there,

       

      You can perform these actions in every order you'd like. After transferring a domain, you can simply assign it to a site associated with a premium plan.

      To assign a domain: Sign in to your Wix account > from the menu at the top, hover over Subscriptions > click Domains > next to the relevant domain, click Manage.

      Under Domain Connects To, click Change > select a site > click Save.

    Hi, I tried to transfer my domain this morning from Go Daddy to Wix (xoxotherapy.com) but inadvertently made an error in entering the authorization code and the transfer failed. How long do I have to wait before the Wix doman site updates the failed transfer so I can repeat the transfer?

    Really want to square this away today.

    We've transferred our .org domain to our new Wix account, after upgrading to premium account; however, our old wordpress site still comes up in browser when we enter the domain address.  How long will the transfer take, or is there something else we need to do to prevent the old website from coming up? We are proud of the new Wix website, but can't see it yet!

      If you still experiencing difficulties to load your Wix site, please clear your browser cache.

    hi,

    "vipcarpoint.com" for 8 days did not result in the transfer process. Can Restart Operations.

      Please make sure you hold for 7 business days before rechecking your domain status. It is currently still pending.

       

      Please also make sure having pushed the Confirm button in the confirmation mail that was sent to you.

    If I transfer my .com domain name to wix when buying a premium plan, do I still get the benefit of a free domain for a year with that price?

      As you can see here, all the premium plans on Wix include a free domain voucher except the 'Connect Domain' (the most basic) plan.
