I was able, after a while, to change the website name but the old name is still in the HTML code, and I can;t get access to it. I wish I could write my own HTML and CSS without using the WIX sitewriting software.

I am not sure I understand the issue, where exactly do you see your old site's name?

      Hi Dana,

My original site name idea is on the left side of a page that has elephant pictures on it's right side.

I can't figure out the trick for editing

      It.It is in HTML

      Erasure seems impossible.

I have erased the text box on the left side of the elephant, please let us know if that is alright.

I have saved the changes (not published).

You can always undo those changes by restoring the previous saved version, click here to find out more about it.

      Dear Kosta,

      Thank you for your assistance.

I'm creating a website for a non-profit organization in my web design class at ETSU.

Can I bypass the WIX software and create the website with my own HTML and CSS?

      Thank you,

      Don Slaughter

      Hi Don Slaughter,

      Unfortunately this isn't possible.

It is not possible to access the CSS code of your site.

You can use the the HTML App, which allows you to test and add your own HTML code to your Wix site.

For more information check out the tutorial below, or you can click here.

*Take a minute to read through the Known Issues & Limitations of the HTML iFrame/Embed App via the link above before using this.

      Hey xoxoclarence,

A free Wix URL is made of username.wix.com/sitename.

You can find step by step instructions about how to change your username here.
To change your site name, go to My Account -> click on Manage & Edit Site next to your site and click Rename under Site Actions on the right side.

To change your own domain please go into the Wix Domain Manager (My Account -> Domains from the top bar) and remove your old domain and then add the new domain again under your preferred connection method or purchase a domain.

To connect your own domain to your site, upgrade to Premium and purchase a domain or get one for free (for the purchase of yearly package- Combo, Unlimited or eCommerce)! Click here to learn more.

If you still do not own the new domain name, you can purchase it from Wix! You can find more information here.

If there is anything else we can do for you, please let us know!

      Thank you,

      Eyal, Wix Customer Support Team

I must be an idiot. Must my site be published before I can change the name? I do not want the wix name in my site name, hope that makes sense. Many thanks for your help.

When I click MY ACCOUNT, there is not a 'manage premium' option. There is the word PREMIUM in the bar, but when I click it, I am taken to a page selling packages.

      I apologize for any misunderstanding.

You don't have to Publish your site before connecting it to your domain.

I checked your domain configuration and everything looks perfect! Once you're ready for your site to go live at your domain, simply Publish it from the Editor.

Once your site is Published it will be visible at wuvie.net

As for the Manage Premium section, we are referring to this area in 'My Account':

Thank you so much. Yes, I do need additional help if you don't mind. I appreciate it. I just published the site, but it is showing my old website that was created with html instead of the new site I created with Wix.

I am seeing your 'wuvnacres' site at your domain now:

While browsing on the web, your computer and browser stores various information. This build up of information can sometimes cause conflict.

Please clear your browser's cache. You can find step by step instructions here.

I noticed that you've recently made changes to your domain's NS records (i.e.: connected your domains NS records to Wix) If you're still seeing the old site appear at your domain the reason is that the domain records did not finish updating yet. Please note that it may take up to 72 hours for the domain records to update worldwide.

If you don't mind one more question, I'm sorry. Is it normal to have such wide empty borders on both sides of my site like that? I created the site within the lines as the site instructed. When I try to go outside the edges to use the full screen, I get a message that states I should stay within the lines. :-(

    • Tom Wix Team

Replied by Tom March 5, 2014

Yes, that's normal. The reason that we advise to stay inside the Gridlines is that this is the maximum width displayed on tablets (e.g.: iPad). When viewing your site through a tablet the regular desktop version of your site will appear, and therefore it is recommended to keep your site inside these borders - so tablet users will be able to see all of your site's content properly.

Please go to My Account > under Manage Premium, click Settings.
Change your username > click Update Personal Details. The changes will get updated automatically.

You can change your email and password there too.

Please note that you cannot change your username to one that you have previously used or that someone else is using. It must be a unique username.

I purchased domain name northants-livery.co.uk a while back (kinda by accident as I actually wanted livery-northants.co.uk ... long story! But I also own that and have a site live on that domain). Another site I have just finished has been linked to northants-livery.co.uk randomly but I don't want it to be - and it's currently live on this domain!! How can I unattach them please?!

The site I have built which has incorrectly linked to northants.livery.co.uk is the replacement site for a domain that already exists (britishtentpegging.com) and is hosted elsewhere. Is there a way I can migrate this site over to this .com? I want the pages to show as britishtentpegging.com and not whatever the Wix address would be (it's a sport national governing body website so needs to look professional). I upgraded the site to become live; but I need to link it to the existing URL. The guy at the company who own the .com domain has asked for the files ... not sure how I can do that, if at all?!

Any help appreciated as past deadline to get this live now and it's live to the wrong domain - eek!

      Hey Jem

      I'm sorry, but I'm a bit confused.

You currently have 2 sites, connected to 2 premium packages:
      1. btatest - which domain should be connected to this site?
      2. manor-farm-livery - which domain should be connected to this site?

In order to connect britishtentpegging.com - please ask your domain host to connect the domain to the Wix name servers ns1.wix.com & ns2.wix.com

      Eileen, Wix Team.
