    Domain without publishing

    Can I buy a domain name that I know is available through Wix without publishing my site? I would really like to secure the website name.

      Once you have created your Wix site, you can easily connect it to your own domain by upgrading to one of our premium plans that allows this service.

      If you don't yet own a domain, you can purchase one directly from Wix! Click here to learn how. Or click here to learn how you can receive a free domain from Wix when purchasing one of our yearly plans!

      If you have already purchased a domain from another domain hosting company, you can connect it to your Wix site by following the instructions here.

      In order to complete the process, you will need to ask your current hosting company (the company you purchased your domain name from), to point your domain to the Wix server using the following CNAMES: ns1.wix.com & ns2.wix.com.

      Our current domain prices are:


      One Year: $14.95 (.biz domains are $15.95)
      Two Years: $27.90 (.biz domains are $29.90)
      Three Years: $38.85 (.biz domains are $41.85)
      To purchase a domain: Sign in to your Wix account > from the top menu, hover over Subscriptions > click Domains > enter your domain into the search box > click Search.
      If the domain is available, click Get It to register it directly on Wix.


      Note: To connect your domain to Wix, you will first have to upgrade your site to premium plan. Upgrade to a yearly agreement Combo, Unlimited or eCommerce plan to receive a free domain for a year. Click here for more info.

    i am looking at just doing a basic blog,

    how much is it to remove the ads and to be able to have a web address that is exactly what i want eg www.voguishcut.com ??

    can you link me to the page that will allow me to do this asap? thanks

    and can i pay monthly ? not a year lump sum?

    I have purchased a premium unlimited package with a free domain name.

    I have checked and its available.

    When I go to get it it tries to charge me for a public registry and the "use my voucher" is greyed out?

    I just upgraded to. A combo plan and was under the impression domain name was free. Now being charged for it.  Tried to go back and ask a question and I lost everything.  If it's free when you pay for the year up front, why am i being charged? And how do I go back to the screen with my billing info?

      You have upgraded to the Combo Yearly plan and you have redeemed your free domain voucher.  However- you added private registration to the domain subscription, which is an added $9.90 (not included in the free domain voucher)..

      To view your billing information: Sign in to your Wix account > at the top right of the page, hover over the user panel > click Billing & Payments.

    hello, support team, ive paid the $15 to upgrade but it turns out i have to pay another $14 for a year's domain, i thought the first payment covers all this.

    Besides that,the purchase for the $14 cant seem to go through, could the problem be with my visa card?

      Please note that $14.95 is the price for a one year subscription for a public registration. 

      If you choose a longer period or a private registration additional fees would apply.


      Regarding the payment issue, please make sure you have input all the billing details correctly, if you did please check this issue with your credit card company.

      To downgrade your premium plan, you need to first cancel your plan and unassign it from your site. You can then purchase a more basic plan.


      To cancel your current plan: Sign in to your Wix account > hover over Subscriptions > click Premium Plans > next to the relevant plan, click Manage > next to Next Payment, click Cancel payments.


      After cancelling your plan, simply upgrade to the plan that you want: From My Sites > next to the relevant site, click Upgrade.

      Note: Your current plan is only eligible for a full refund within the first 14 day trial period. If you would like to change your plan any time after the first 14 days, we suggest that you cancel your current plan and wait until your current contract runs out before purchasing a new plan.

      Note: If you connected your own domain to your Wix site, you will have to reconnect your domain in the Domains section after canceling and purchasing a new plan. Click here for more information.

    I purchased a premium plan and was under the assumption that the domain name was free for one year, yet I was charged for the domain name.  Will I be receiving a refund for the domain name?

      Please note that the one year free domain voucher is only for yearly premium plans, and since you purchased a monthly plan you are not eligible for this voucher. 


      You can upgrade an existing plan to a yearly plan at any time.

      To upgrade an existing plan: Sign in to your Wix account > from the My Sites page, next to the relevant site, click Upgrade.

      Note: Any remaining credit from your old plan will be deducted from the price of your new upgrade.
