If you have purchased a domain from Wix, it is possible to transfer it to another domain host, if necessary.

To transfer a Wix domain: Sign in to your Wix account > from the top menu, hover over Subscriptions > click Domains > click Manage next to the relevant domain.

Under Domain Summary, click the Advanced tab > on the right, click Transfer away from Wix > click Send.

An email code will be sent to your email address. This code should be forwarded to your new domain host.

Note: In accordance with ICANN rules, you will only be able to transfer your domain 60 days after purchasing it from Wix.

Note: If you were referring to a non-Wix Domain which you connected to your Wix site, you will need to contact your domain host for assistance with disconnecting your domain from Wix.

For further information on transferring your domain, click here or watch the video below!

    Hi,

I have Wix premium account which includes also my domain.

I was wondering whether I can I transfer the domain to hostgator? Do I have to close my premium account on WiX?

    Thanks.

    Best,

      Hey,

Thank you for contacting Wix support.

Please note that since your domain is not hosted with Wix but only connected to Wix via nameservers, you will have to contact your domain host which is Godaddy, and ask them to change the namesevers over to your new site host.

Please don't hesitate to contact us should you require further assistance.

      Hello,

Please note that your domain WebAppXxx.com is not registered at Wix, but at GoDaddy.

This is the reason that you cannot transfer the domain away from Wix - Wix is not your domain host.

I made a website using Weebly and need to point my domain to their servers.  Can you set this up or walk me through the process of making these changes?  I need to change my A-Records for both "www" and my root domain. That's one record for www.thecornerspotblog.com pointing to 199.34.228.59. And one record for thecornerspotblog.com also pointing to 199.34.228.59.

If you need more info on these changes, please see:

    http://kb.weebly.com/domain-registrar.html

Note that I want to keep using you as my domain registrar.  I am not requesting a transfer and do not have new name servers to provide you.

    Thanks!

How long is it supposed to take place? I've tried this before, and it keeps sending me to Wix help. I've emptied my caches too and reloaded the internet with no luck.

I'm sorry for the confusion, since your domain name was purchased via Wix you'll need to transfer it to Webbly .

Please note that it is not possible to change the name servers of a domain name purchased from Wix. You may either transfer the domain away from Wix, or point the domain to a different IP address.

      * If you have purchased a Wix domain, but have decided to transfer it away from Wix, you can do so easily by following the instructions here.

Important note: In accordance with ICANN rules, you cannot transfer your domain to another provider until 60 days after you register or transfer your domain.

    Hi,

I purchased my domain through wix, but transferred it, successfully to another web builder.  Do I still need to subscribe to wix?  Will canceling my account with Wix, forfeit the domain names I purchased?

    Thank you.

      Hi,

You don't have to extend your Wix premium plan. The domain is yours and you can freely host it with a different domain host.

      Hello,

Once you have received the code from us and given it to GoDaddy, the domain transfer process is out of our hands. It should finalize soon if it hasn't already, but if you're still having problems, please contact GoDaddy and query them as to the status of the transfer.

      Hello,

It is impossible to change the Name Servers of the domain hosted at Wix.

You can, however, edit an A record and add a relevant IP in it (please contact your new host to receive the IP).

Please feel free to contact us in case you need further assistance.

      Hi,

I checked your Wix account and I saw your domains were not purchased from Wix.

You can find more information about your domain and who is the register of the domain in this link.

To disconnect your domain from your Wix site, please ask your hosting company not to point your domain to the Wix IP address or disconnect it from the Wix Name Servers (NS1.WIX.COM and NS2.WIX.COM).
