If you have purchased a domain from Wix, it is possible to transfer it to another domain host, if necessary.

To transfer a Wix domain: Sign in to your Wix account > from the top menu, hover over Subscriptions > click Domains > click Manage next to the relevant domain.

Under Domain Summary, click the Advanced tab > on the right, click Transfer away from Wix > click Send.

An email code will be sent to your email address. This code should be forwarded to your new domain host.

Note: In accordance with ICANN rules, you will only be able to transfer your domain 60 days after purchasing it from Wix.

Note: If you were referring to a non-Wix Domain which you connected to your Wix site, you will need to contact your domain host for assistance with disconnecting your domain from Wix.

That is incorrect, we have completed the transfer part of the domain, in the new provider, it currently says Pending Transfer, the code has been entered and all parties have authorised this.

I noticed that you have posted multiple questions on the forum.
In order to receive a more accurate response and to avoid any confusion with overlapping material, please post your question only once.
This will also speed up our response time to you since you will not have to repeat your issue multiple times and explain it to multiple representatives.

Wix has provided my transfer code to transfer my domain to Wordpress.com .  I have already done that part but now Wordpress keeps asking for me to change the name server, see below:

    From Wordpress:

Step 3: Next, you will need to update your domain’s “name servers” to the following:

You can usually change your domain’s name servers at your registrar’s website. The exact process for updating your domain’s name servers is different for each domain registrar. Instructions for popular registrars are available here. If your registrar isn’t listed, visit their website or contact their support team for assistance. If you cannot figure this out and you need to contact support at your registrar, here is a sample email you can send:

I would like to use my domain with a WordPress.com site. In order to do this, I need to point my domain’s name servers to the following:

I do not want to transfer my domain, but want to leave it registered with you. WordPress.com does not permit mapping by setting an A record to point to an IP address. They require the name servers to be updated as described.

So if they don't permit mapping and you insist on transfer what do I do??  Can I not use my Wix domain with wordpress???  Please help!

You can definitely use a Wix domain with wordpress, that is to say to transfer your domain away from Wix. You may find the following video helpful in terms of instructions to transfer:

You have to insert the Name Server information wordpress has given you in the appropriate location in your Manage Premium section > Domains > manage > advanced > NS (Name Servers).

Please note that once confirmed, the transfer process takes up to 72 hours.

If you would like to transfer your domain back to Wix:

Our name servers are NS1.WIX.COM (IP address and NS2.WIX.COM (IP address

Please follow the steps provided here.

Note: When connecting your domain to the Wix name servers there are two important steps that you must complete.

      1) Firstly you must go to your Wix Domain Manager (My Account > Manage Premium > Domains) and add your domain.
For more information, please click here.
      2) Please contact your domain host and ask them to connect your domain via the name servers (ns1.wix.com & ns2.wix.com).
Both of these steps are essential and the omission of either will result in a domain that’s not connected correctly.

Please contact us should you need any further help.

      All the best, Or

I'm intending to switch my domain to another site and have also renewed my domain at hover.com

It now says "Domain is awaiting registry approval" and has been like that for the past 4 days. How long does it take to approve the transfer?

Domain transfers usually take a couple of days, the exact time is usually related to the receiving host.

Please contact your new host regarding this issue.

Please note the moment Wix provides you with the domain transfer code, you're free to move your domain wherever you'd like. This is the last step on the Wix side. From here on all other steps and delays are the responsibility of your new registrar.

Please contact your new registrar's support, give them the transfer code and let them know that Wix has approved the transfer (by supplying the transfer code..). If they reply with a requirement for any further steps to be done on our end please forward us their email entirely by copying it and posting on this thread.

    Tai from Wix posted:

Make sure you received from us the email with the code and forwarded it to your domain new host.

In case you've done all of the above, it is up to your new hostess."

I've done all the above. Trying to transfer to GoDaddy. On the GoDaddy domain page it says "We're waiting for approval from the sending registrar, which can take up to 7 days." Does that mean GoDaddy is waiting for wix to approve the transfer? Have I done everything correctly then?

Once you received the code transfer from Wix, we ' released '  your domain name.

This means, it is know up to your new domain host.

Please contact GoDaddy directly regarding this issue.

As the past 3 people before me have mentioned, there is no longer an "Advanced" tab in the Domain page so your "Best Reply" is no longer useable. Please advise on the NEW way to transfer my domain away from Wix.

I'm sorry for the inconvenience, please note that your domain is not a Wix domain, so you're right, The video can't help in your case.

Please contact your domain host (in your case- GoDaddy) and ask them to change your NS records to your new site.
