If you have purchased a domain from Wix, it is possible to transfer it to another domain host, if necessary.

To transfer a Wix domain: Sign in to your Wix account > from the top menu, hover over Subscriptions > click Domains > click Manage next to the relevant domain.

Under Domain Summary, click the Advanced tab > on the right, click Transfer away from Wix > click Send.

 

An email code will be sent to your email address. This code should be forwarded to your new domain host.

 

Note: In accordance with ICANN rules, you will only be able to transfer your domain 60 days after purchasing it from Wix.

 

Note: If you were referring to a non-Wix Domain which you connected to your Wix site, you will need to contact your domain host for assistance with disconnecting your domain from Wix.

    Hi,

    Trying to transfer my domain (teamreinforce.com) away from Wix to Namecheap.  Started the process on 7/21/2014, received and enter the code,looks like everything was successful but I am still "awaiting release from current registrar".  Namecheap told me that it should have been released within 5 days of the transfer out notification. Any clarification about whats going with my transfer would be much appreciated.

    Im not able to see the transfer button to transfer. The domain is: imfvenezuela.com . the domain is through networksolutions but is payed in wix, we need answer asap because we are in need to use the mail (google mail).

    Any advice?

      Hi,

       

      Please note that it is only possible to transfer a domain with active registration. As your domain expired on 25/07/2014, you will need to extend your domain registration in order to be able to transfer it to another host. For instructions on how to do so, click here.

       

      If you are looking to connect your e-mail to Wix, you can do so by following the steps outlined here. There is no need to transfer your domain away from Wix, if this is the case.

      Hello ben,

      thanks for your fast answer, let me explain it more in detail, the main objective of this transaction is to transfer the domain and the site away from wix, we deployed another website and want to transfer to a local hosting the domain itself with the new codification of our site, also configure the google apps to the new hosting, we are from venezuela and we have issues with the currency, we need to pay in local currency, so we are closing all our services with wix,

    I have transferred my domain away from Wix over a week ago and I have not yet received the transfer code.

    Hello,

    For 3 days now I've followed and done the steps above to transfer my Wix domain to another host and you guys are not sending the code to my email addressand besides somebody was suppose to call me as well yesterday but didn't. please let me know if you wish to send the code or not so that, I can find another alternative, thanks.

      I apologize for our misunderstanding. This domain was not purchased through Wix. To direct it to a different website, please change the name servers through the domain host. You can use DomainTools or Who.Is to find the domain host, if you're not sure.

    I've followed the instructions on transfering a domain away from Wix. I smashed the button to send an email to myself with the transfer code, but I'm yet to get that email. It has been about 30 minutes or so...does it take longer?

      It says that this is the address of the registrar of my domain - dfh60buiouh5pa3pr03roio6gd@domaindiscreet.com. Is this correct?

    Hi I have initiated a request to transfer a domain away from Wix on Sunday and the status at the new host is saying "We're waiting for approval from the sending registrar, which can take up to 7 days."

    Is there anything else that I need to do in the Wix account to move this process forward? If not, is there anything that your team can do to expedite this request?  Please advise. Thanks.

      Please note that once the code is transferred, the rest of the procedure is in the control of the new registrar. Please contact your new registrar for further assistance. Be informed that this can take up to 7 business days.

      Hey Shai, this is the process that I followed. I can see that the transfer process has been started with the hosting company. How long does it take for WIX to release the domain. The request went through on 21st at 8pm.
