*This feature has not yet been released to all users.*

You can currently only transfer domains with the following extensions: .com, .org, .net, .biz, .info, .co, .tv, .guru, .email, .expert.

You can transfer your domain from another registrar to your Wix account. To transfer your domain, please verify that at least 60 days have passed since you registered or last transferred your domain and make sure that your domain is unlocked.

For more information please click here.

After a domain transfer is successful, your computer/browser might still be directed to the old site when you try to access the domain.

This normally resolves itself after several days depending on the router/browser settings but in order to fix this immediately you should clear your browsers cache and flush the DNS.

Note: Transferring your domain to Wix is not the same as connecting your domain to your Wix site. If you would like to keep your domain with your current domain host, but connect the domain to your Wix site, please click here to learn more.

Thanks, Nicole,

    Hi,

I am looking at doing the same as above. However, I am not sure if my existing domain name will be excepted? My current domain name ends in a (.com.au) will this work/be accepted?

Any help or advice would be great!

      Hi Morgan,

Unfortunately, you won't be able to transfer your domain to Wix.

However, you can connect it to your Wix site. You can keep hosting the domain with your current domain host and simply point the domain to Wix name servers.

To connect your site to a domain please visit our Domain Portal or view the video below. The connection may take up to 72 hours to take effect.

Please inform us whether you need any further assistance,

      Tal, Wix Team

      Hello,

I can see that your domain admin email is currently set as abagusiiglobalradio@yahoo.com.

Please verify that the email address for the domain admin/registrant is your own email address, via your domain host, as a confirmation email is sent to your domain admin and registrant e-mail addresses as part of the domain transfer process.

Make sure to check your inbox for an email from support@wix.com and make sure to click on the approval link in the email.

      Please make sure to:
      • Check the inbox of the email account that you registered with your current domain host.
      • Check your Spam folder if you do not see the mail in your inbox.

You can find steps to transfer your domain to Wix here.

If the confirmation e-mail was sent to an outdated e-mail address, please note that you will need to wait for the current domain transfer request to fail in order to re-initiate the transfer process. Please note that it may take up to 7 days after the domain transfer request was initiated for it to fail.

    Hi,

I tried purchasing a domain name from WIX however, I wasn't able to find a suitable domain. So I purchased a domain name from another website called MyDomain. However, I cannot transfer the domain to WIX due to the 60 days rule. Is there any way I could expedite this? I've already purchased a Premium Plan from WIX.

      Hey,

Please note that the 60 days period is an ICANN regulation, and unfortunately we can not expedite it.

Please note that is this period you can connect you domain to your Wix website using DNS (it would simply connect the domain and leave it with your current host), click here for instructions.

So, if I have one WIX hosting account and have transferred one domain from another company, and if I have been redirecting that domain to an existing WIX site (and have paid for an additional year for the domain) WIX will begin hosting my existing WIX site with the domain name I just transferred?  (That would take a few days to happen, I know.)

Is there something else I need to do, or will WIX open up a new (totally blank) site for me under using the domain I just transferred.  That would be bad because the redirect would no longer function and my site would be totally down.

You can easily connect your Wix domain with your Wix website.

You can only assign a domain to a Wix site that has been upgraded to a Premium plan which includes connecting your own domain. If you only have one Premium plan, to reassign a domain, you will first have to transfer the Premium plan to your new site. For more information about transferring Premium plans, click here.

To assign your Wix domain to your Wix site:

      1. From Domains, under My Domains, next to your Wix domain, click Manage.

      2. Under Domain Summary, under Domain Connects To:, click Change.

      3. Under Point Your Domain, select a Wix site to assign your domain to.

      4. Click Save, then click Done.

Your Wix domain is assigned to your Wix site.

OK. So it will take 60 days for my site to publish?! "You can transfer your domain from another registrar to your Wix account. To transfer your domain, please verify that at least 60 days have passed since you registered or last transferred your domain and make sure that your domain is unlocked." I just set up forwarding from to SquareSpace last night, but then decided I'd rather use Wix. So now I have to wait 60 days and pay the subscription for 2 months without actually having a website?! I must be missing something? I've had the domain for 2+ years if that matters.

      Hey,

Unfortunately it is not possible to transfer a domain during the initial 60 day period after registering the domain. This is in accordance with the regulations established by ICANN (the domain regulatory body), and cannot be circumvented by Wix. This limitation applies to both incoming (to Wix) and outgoing (away from Wix) transfers.

If you are unable to transfer your domain to Wix due to this limitation, please note that you are able to connect your domain to Wix in the meantime. For information about connecting your domain to Wix, click here.

    Yola to Wix?

    Hi,

I currently have a Yola website. I am looking to transfer my domain and email address purchased through Yola to a Wix website that I am currently building.

I understand that I have to upgrade my package on Wix, but when I connect my Yola domain to Wix, will I still need to keep my Yola account/Membership or is the domain completely transferred to Wix? I don't want to have to carry on paying for a Yola account and a Wix account.

    Thanks

      Hi,

Wix sites are hosted on our server, that means that you do not need another hosting package at another company.

Please note that in order to connect your domain to your site you will have to upgrade your account to premium.

You can find all the information regarding the premium plans here.

In order to upgrade your site , please go to My Sites -> click Upgrade next to the site you would like to upgrade.

For the Wix Premium Learning Center, click here.
