*This feature has not yet been released to all users.*

You can currently only transfer domains with the following extensions: .com, .org, .net, .biz, .info, .co, .guru, .email, .expert, and .tv

You can transfer your domain from another registrar to your Wix account. To transfer your domain, please verify that at least 60 days have passed since you registered or last transferred your domain and make sure that your domain is unlocked.

For more information please click here.

After a domain transfer is successful, your computer/browser might still be directed to the old site when you try to access the domain.

This normally resolves itself after several days depending on the router/browser settings but in order to fix this immediately you should clear your browsers cache and flush the DNS.

Note: Transferring your domain to Wix is not the same as connecting your domain to your Wix site. If you would like to keep your domain with your current domain host, but connect the domain to your Wix site, please click here to learn more.

Thanks, Nicole,

Unfortunately Wix cannot import domains yet so we are unable to pull that domain once it expires with  the current provider. You can keep and renew the domain subscription with the current provider or transfer it to a different provider.

we currently have a web hosting and domain name package with someone else, and are planning to shift over to Wix. The problem is, the contract doesn't run out till part way through next year. My question to you is, we will buy the "unlimited" package with the free domain name etc. but due to the fact we still have the domain registered elsewhere, the domain is superfluous at present time. however, once the contract runs out, can we utilize the domain that you are offering with this deal?

    Well,

I have heard this repeated over and over in the past. The fact of the matter is simple:

In this regard, your level of service sucks!

So many people have a domain and hosting somewhere else and would love to have the opportunity to switch to Wix but refrain from doing so because they would be stuck with two bills.

Shape up in this regard wix! Or continue loosing business!

    @karilayton97 and @devantiervintage

While some domain hosting companies do allow transferring of domain registration, it is not possible to transfer a domain already registered with another domain host to Wix.

If you purchased a domain from a different domain hosting company, you can connect it to your Wix site by following the instructions here.

Otherwise, you would need to wait for the current domain registration to expire, and then re-register the domain with Wix. Please bear in mind that we do not recommend this, as you risk the domain availability once it becomes available for registration to the public. As well, after the current registration expires, there may be a redemption period, during which the domain would not be able to be registered. Wix cannot provide the exact length of any such period, as it depends on the domain host.

We recommend connecting to Wix via name servers, as specified in the link above.

    Agreed!

I do not see why this should be such a difficult issue. As you can see from the postings from the Wix Team above Wix appears to have a huge problem with it. I do not see why?

After all, Wix is giving out domains itself when you sign up for a premium package.

Could they not make a deal with whoever provides them with these domains or something?

    Hi Michael,

I am in a similar situation. Pointing is not a recommended way of connecting to your domain. Waiting for your domain to become public again seems risky as your branding and a online business is entirely linked to this domain. Is there any service or service company you use to link it in with wix: ie: organise cancelling of domain with current provider and automatically connecting with wix? Surely this is a common issue experienced by many.

    Hi,

Note that using Wix you don't need a website host, but only a domain. If you are going to purchase a domain from HostGator, you just need to connect it to Wix's servers.

To connect your domain to Wix please follow this step by step guide here

If you need any further assistance please let us know.

    Thanks,

    Gabriel - Wix
