You can currently only transfer domains with the following extensions: .com, .org, .net, .biz, .info, .co, .tv, .guru, .email, .expert.

 

You can transfer your domain from another registrar to your Wix account. To transfer your domain, please verify that at least 60 days have passed since you registered or last transferred your domain and make sure that your domain is unlocked.

After a domain transfer is successful, your computer/browser might still be directed to the old site when you try to access the domain.

This normally resolves itself after several days depending on the router/browser settings but in order to fix this immediately you should clear your browsers cache and flush the DNS.

 

Note: Transferring your domain to Wix is not the same as connecting your domain to your Wix site. If you would like to keep your domain with your current domain host, but connect the domain to your Wix site, please click here to learn more.

    Help with Domain hosting transfer

    Hi Wix, when I opened my Wix premium account I already had a domain name registered (through Wordpress). That licence is about to expire (11.07.2014) and I would like to switch the domain hosting to Wix so that the site doesn't go down and I then have to reapply for the domain name. Please advise on how I do this. Many thanks, Ed

    Hi,

    I finished all procedures to transfer my domain to Wix a week ago, but unfortunately nothing happened yet. My previous registrar (go daddy) already cancelled my domain and i can not use my mails as well.

    When will the transfer be completed? I need to know because my business already started get effected.

      Hi, 

      The domain triptouae.com  has been submitted to the Registry to finalize the transfer. 

      Have you received the confirmation email from Wix and accepted the terms? 
       

      Please verify that the email address for the domain admin/registrant is your own email address, as we will send a confirmation email to that address once the transfer is initiated.
       
      Here you can check your email address (under 'Admin Email'). 
       
      If the transfer fails - Repeat the transfer domain process. Then, check your inbox for an email from support@wix.com and make sure to click on the approval link in the email.
       

      Follow the instructions here to re-initiate the domain transfer request.

      I received an email for my previous application, not for this one. Because one of my transfer had failed already.

      Please wait for the 7-day period to be over, then click on the link under Domains next to your domain name that reads Domain transfer failed, in the same location where it now reads Pending registry approval.

       

      When you click on it, you can use this link to unravel the reason for the failure of the domain transfer process.

       

      Please use this checklist to make sure you have everything sorted out before re-initating the domain transfer process.

      The point is, when will i get this information. already 7 days passed and in godaddy, i do not see my domain anymore; cancelled from godaddy totally.

      Hi,

       

      I see your domain triptouae.com is pending registry approval (you can see the progress of your domain transfer under Subscriptions > Domains).

       

      Please check  your admin email in who.is, you will receive a domain transfer conformation email in this account (check junk and trash folders)

       

      It may take up to seven days for the Registry to approve your transfer.

      If you did not receive this please wait for the domain transfer to fail and re-initiate the process.

    Hi,

    I have followed all the instructions and twice tried to transfer my domain name from NetRegistry to Wix but both times I have not received an email asking for my approval/confirmation to transfer the domain.

    My email address is correct on the domain and I have given the correct authorisation code (EPP code) to transfer it.

    This has taken a month now to get to this stage, so I am keen to sort out the problem.

      To transfer your domain, please follow the steps below:

      1. Contact your current domain host and ask then to:

      - Remove your domain privacy protection.

      - Set your personal email address (markw@w-c-s.biz) as the domain admin email address.

      2. Repeat the transfer domain process. Then, check your inbox for an email from support@wix.com and make sure to click on the approval link in the email.  Check your Spam folder if you do not see the mail in your inbox.

    I think Im in the right category for this question. 

    I currently have a website that is made created by someone else. Im wanting to keep my web address but I want it applied to the new website I created here with Wix. Is this even possible?

      That depends, if the other site is a Wix site you can have it transferred to your Wix user account, if it is not a Wix site than it is not possible. If you mean using a domain hosted elsewhere, yes, that is also possible.

    How can I point my domain to Wix.

    Hey. My domain was purchased from Names.co.uk and my current website host is Mrsite. However, the hosting with Mrsite will expire very soon and I've decided to transfer my website hosting from Mrsite to Wix at the end of the contract. 

    My domain host informed me that I'll need to get the A record and CNAME record from Wix (my new host/provider) and set this up in the DNS in the control panel. Is this correct and I wonder if you could please tell me if I can also have my domain email(s) with you if I point my domain to Wix?

      Before transferring your domain to Wix, make sure: 
       

      1) The domain suffix you are using is supported.

      Currently, you can transfer domains with the following extensions: .com, .org, .net, .biz. and .info.

       

      2) Your domain is not protected by privacy (if you purchased privacy protection, you need to disable it for the duration of the transfer)

      You can check with your current domain host

       

      3) The email address for the domain admin/registrant is your own email address, since we will send a confirmation email to that address once the transfer is initiated.

      You can check the email address associated with your domain in the domain settings of your current host, or perform Whois check. 

       

      4) Your domain is older than 60 days

    Hello,

     

    As we see, you only have one domain (isutave.com) connected to Wix and it is not hosted by Wix. This means that you have to renew the domain through your domain host (domain.com).

    You can use this site to find out who is your domain host.

     

    If you are referring to another Wix account, please tell us and we will check your other domains for you.

     

    Regarding your second question, we are not sure we understand what are you trying to achieve. 

    Are you referring to the 1-year-free domain vouchers that you used to have? Do you want to renew and use them to buy a domain from Wix?

    domain hosting service

    Dear Team,

    I would like to check would Wix helped to renew my website domain?  Please take note I had previously transferred my website from another hosting companies and I had some how received email from the old hosting companies informing the website is due for renewal and I would like to check if this should be done via WIX or not or how does this work.  Another note, give I used my own domain in the past, can I retrieve the free domain service that came with my package?

    Kindly assist to shed some light on this.

      Dear Team,

       

      I appreciate for your prompt response but I do not think simply adding me to this thread would really help. Kindly advise my options going forward to renew my website.  Details as above trail.  Maybe you could further explain what I could do to TRANSFER my website to WIX, while I BELIEVE AND ASSUME I had only connected to WIX initially.

      if you could provide a DETAIL APPROACH it could save your time and mine.

      If you have taken a look at my profile - please note the below:

       

      1) This should be obvious that my current profile satisfy the criteria - I do not need to spell this out.

      2) You should also be able to check on this. But I am sure is not on privacy.

      3) As you may have check the whois - the registrant is in another name  - how to proceed?

      4) As per my historical record and record with Wix - is definitely over 60 days.

      Kindly specify what do you mean on this sentence: note that you cannot transfer an already created website from somewhere else to Wix - if this is the case how does the supposedly provided link from your last post help?

      Please suggest if I am able or NOT able to transfer.

      After Wix verifies your transfer, you will get an email from your current registrar approving your transfer request. Your domain status will then change to Pending Registry Approval

       

      Verify that the email address for the domain admin/registrant is your own email address, as we will send a confirmation email to that address once the transfer is initiated. This email will expire after 5 days, so we recommend that you confirm the domain transfer as soon as possible.You can check your domain admin/registrant e-mail address(es) via the WHOIS database here.

       

      You'll receive an email from support@wix.com, asking you to confirm your transfer request. The subject of the email is "DOMAIN NAME TRANSFER - Initial Authorization for Registrar". You must open this email (check your spam folder) and click Confirm within 5 days after the transfer request. If you do not confirm the email, the transfer process cannot be completed.

       

      It may take up to seven days for the Registry to approve your transfer.

    My current domain host is easily.co.uk the renewal date is 9th July. do I need to wait until then to transfer the domain so wix hosts now?

      Hey,

       

      Can you please elaborate what you are trying to do? what is the domain name in question?

       

      If you want to connect a domain you already have to Wix you simply need to ask your domain host to point the domain to Wix's name servers.

       

      Wix's name servers are:

      NS1.WIX.COM (IP address 216.139.213.90)

      NS2.WIX.COM (IP address 95.211.144.195)
       

      When connecting your domain to Wix's name servers there are two important steps that you must complete.
       

      1. Make sure that you have added the domain in your Wix account.
      For more information, please click here.
       
      2. Contact your domain host and ask them to connect your domain to Wix's the name servers (ns1.wix.com & ns2.wix.com).
       
      Both of these steps are essential and the omission of either will result in a domain that is not properly connected.

      I already have a website with wix, but I also have another website built on the apple iWeb which is being hosted by easily.co.uk until 9th July. When that date arrives Id like to use the domain name dspropertymaintenance.org.uk with the new site I have built on wix. so after 9th July is it just a case of getting wix to host it?

      sorry Im not that technically minded with regard hosting etc

      Do not wait until July 9th to start the transfer process, start it now and renew your domain with wix as your new host. This is to avoid down time when transferring.

       

      Before transferring your domain to Wix, make sure: 
      • The domain suffix you are using is supported.

      Currently, you can transfer domains with the following extensions: .com, .org, .net, .biz. and .info.

      • Your domain is not protected by privacy (if you purchased privacy protection, you need to disable it for the duration of the transfer)

      You can check with your current domain host

      • The email address for the domain admin/registrant is your own email address, since we will send a confirmation email to that address once the transfer is initiated.

      You can check the email address associated with your domain in the domain settings of your current host, or perform a Whois check. 

      • Your domain is older than 60 days

       

      Then follow instructions here to transfer the domain.

      Note that connecting a domain is a premium feature and you will have to upgrade your site.

      HI,

       

      An IPS tag is a tag that was implemented by the UK registry (Nominet), to control domain name transfers.
      Every UK domain name (.co.uk, .org.uk, .net.uk, etc.) must have a IPS tag specified to confirm which registrar currently holds the domain. This protects domains from being transferred away from a current owner if the domain's tag has not been updated to another registrar's tag. Only the current tagholder (registrar) or Nominet is able to update a domain's IPS tag.
       
      Note: Currently, it is not possible to transfer your UK Domain Name to Wix for hosting.
       
      Like I have mentioned before, Currently, you can transfer domains with the following extensions: .com, .org, .net, .biz. and .info.
       
      However, you can easily connect the domain name to your Wix site! For more information about connecting your domain to Wix, click here.
      In order to connect your domain you also don't have to wait until July 9th, you can do it now.
       

      This process may take up to 72 hours to take effect.
