*This feature has not yet been released to all users.*

You can currently only transfer domains with the following extensions: .com, .org, .net, .biz, .info, .co, .guru, .email, .expert, and .tv

You can transfer your domain from another registrar to your Wix account. To transfer your domain, please verify that at least 60 days have passed since you registered or last transferred your domain and make sure that your domain is unlocked.

For more information please click here.

After a domain transfer is successful, your computer/browser might still be directed to the old site when you try to access the domain.

This normally resolves itself after several days depending on the router/browser settings but in order to fix this immediately you should clear your browsers cache and flush the DNS.

Note: Transferring your domain to Wix is not the same as connecting your domain to your Wix site. If you would like to keep your domain with your current domain host, but connect the domain to your Wix site, please click here to learn more.

Thanks, Nicole,

    Hello,

As we see, you only have one domain (isutave.com) connected to Wix and it is not hosted by Wix. This means that you have to renew the domain through your domain host (domain.com).

You can use this site to find out who is your domain host.

If you are referring to another Wix account, please tell us and we will check your other domains for you.

Regarding your second question, we are not sure we understand what are you trying to achieve.

Are you referring to the 1-year-free domain vouchers that you used to have? Do you want to renew and use them to buy a domain from Wix?

Thank you, we are awaiting your reply.

Kindly advise my options going forward to renew my website.  Details as above trail.  Maybe you could further explain what I could do to TRANSFER my website to WIX, while I BELIEVE AND ASSUME I had only connected to WIX initially.

      Hi,

After Wix verifies your transfer, you will get an email from your current registrar approving your transfer request. Your domain status will then change to Pending Registry Approval

Verify that the email address for the domain admin/registrant is your own email address, as we will send a confirmation email to that address once the transfer is initiated. This email will expire after 5 days, so we recommend that you confirm the domain transfer as soon as possible. You can check your domain admin/registrant e-mail address(es) via the WHOIS database here.

You'll receive an email from support@wix.com, asking you to confirm your transfer request. The subject of the email is "DOMAIN NAME TRANSFER - Initial Authorization for Registrar". You must open this email (check your spam folder) and click Confirm within 5 days after the transfer request. If you do not confirm the email, the transfer process cannot be completed.

It may take up to seven days for the Registry to approve your transfer.

For detailed instructions on how to transfer your domain to Wix please check out our learning center here.

We are here should you have any further questions!

      Hey,

Can you please elaborate what you are trying to do? what is the domain name in question?

If you want to connect a domain you already have to Wix you simply need to ask your domain host to point the domain to Wix's name servers.

      Wix's name servers are:

      NS1.WIX.COM (IP address 216.139.213.90)

      NS2.WIX.COM (IP address 95.211.144.195)

When connecting your domain to Wix's name servers there are two important steps that you must complete.

      1. Make sure that you have added the domain in your Wix account.
For more information, please click here.

      2. Contact your domain host and ask them to connect your domain to Wix's the name servers (ns1.wix.com & ns2.wix.com).

Both of these steps are essential and the omission of either will result in a domain that is not properly connected.

Let us know if you need additional help.

All the best, Dean - Wix Team

When that date arrives Id like to use the domain name dspropertymaintenance.org.uk with the new site I have built on wix. so after 9th July is it just a case of getting wix to host it?

      Hi Steve,

Do not wait until July 9th to start the transfer process, start it now and renew your domain with wix as your new host. This is to avoid down time when transferring.

Before transferring your domain to Wix, make sure:
      • The domain suffix you are using is supported.

Currently, you can transfer domains with the following extensions: .com, .org, .net, .biz. and .info.

      • Your domain is not protected by privacy (if you purchased privacy protection, you need to disable it for the duration of the transfer)

You can check with your current domain host

      • The email address for the domain admin/registrant is your own email address, since we will send a confirmation email to that address once the transfer is initiated.

You can check the email address associated with your domain in the domain settings of your current host, or perform a Whois check.

      • Your domain is older than 60 days

Then follow instructions here to transfer the domain.

Note that connecting a domain is a premium feature and you will have to upgrade your site.

Let us know if you need more help.

      Hi

Im being asked for your Nominet Tag ?

    • Etti Wix Team

Replied by Etti June 27, 2014

      HI,

An IPS tag is a tag that was implemented by the UK registry (Nominet), to control domain name transfers.
Every UK domain name (.co.uk, .org.uk, .net.uk, etc.) must have a IPS tag specified to confirm which registrar currently holds the domain. This protects domains from being transferred away from a current owner if the domain's tag has not been updated to another registrar's tag. Only the current tagholder (registrar) or Nominet is able to update a domain's IPS tag.

Note: Currently, it is not possible to transfer your UK Domain Name to Wix for hosting.

Like I have mentioned before, Currently, you can transfer domains with the following extensions: .com, .org, .net, .biz. and .info.

However, you can easily connect the domain name to your Wix site! For more information about connecting your domain to Wix, click here.
In order to connect your domain you also don't have to wait until July 9th, you can do it now.

This process may take up to 72 hours to take effect.

    • Barrios Wix Team

Replied by Barrios June 25, 2014

      Hi Pete,

You can connect your .co.za domain through pointing or name servers.

DNS is the management of your domain – i.e. you use it anytime you point your domain to an IP address, redirect emails to your email host or connect different subdomains to different servers.

Pointing your domain to the Wix IP means that your domain host retains control of your DNS and simply points your domain to the Wix servers.

The difference between pointing to the Wix IP or connecting with name servers is really a difference in who has control over your DNS – Wix or your domain host.

Please Note: Wix does NOT Recommend Pointing
Instead we recommend connecting your domain to Wix using Wix name servers.
      Why?

Down time when Wix IP changes:
The primary reason we recommend connecting your domain to Wix using Wix name servers is that the Wix IP address might change in order to prevent your site from going down. This happens from time to time when natural disasters, server problem and other problems occur.
In such events, domains connected to Wix by name servers will automatically have their DNS records updated. However, domains that are connected to Wix by IP pointing will not work until you request the new IP# from us and then manually make the changes with your domain host. This will result in a much longer down time.

Less support & assistance: When you connect your domain to Wix by nameservers, we can offer support and assist you in creating any DNS records you might need. Whereas if you connect to Wix by pointing you would need to contact your domain host with any domain/DNS related issues.

Feature updates must be made manually: We can automatically modify your DNS to accommodate any new feature that requires DNS changes (like WixMobile, and any other possible features that we might release in the future). When choosing pointing you would need to manually make these changes with your domain host.

For more information about Domain Management, click here.
If you're having trouble connecting your domain, click here.

We are here should you require further assistance! :)

      Many thanks, Barrios

      Thanks

      Pete

      Good Day

Please be aware that I have been trying possible solutions.

We cannot change the nameservers to WIX nameservers as this would mean that WIX would then take over the hosting completely including emails.

We suggest you get WIX to provide you with the IP address required for the website and we can then point www.nunufoods.co.za to that IP address.

However when we test the IP record on WIX nameservers it does not even exist at this stage:

      root@zeus ~ # dig www.nunufoods.co.za @NS1.WIX.COM

      Hi AGAIN

Please see the response below from the current host. HELP PLEASE!!!!!

      Good Morning Peter

I understand your situation.  Please understand the service we offer, we are responsible for hand coding a website and hosting it online.  We usually don't give the client access to their domain control panel unless the client insists.

This is because we don't want the client to make alterations to the website because it usually results to the client making changes on it and causing certain things to not work properly.

Should the client make changes on to the website and causing certain things to malfunction we will charge the client extra Web design hours to fix whatever the problem maybe.

We would offer the same service to you but we don't deal with WIX.  Primarily because WIX is a third party application that we are unfamiliar with.  Their way of working is different to ours.

So we have tried pointing and it doesn't seem to work.  We used the same method of pointing that we use on other websites and it does work.

We suggest that you cancel the the Domain with us and start a new domain with with WIX and get them to host your website. That way you will know that you will deal with one party only.

       KIND REGARDS

      Hey,

Unfortunately, currently it is possible to transfer only domains with the following extensions: .com, .org, .net, .biz. and .info.

      Hello,

I can see that your domain admin email is currently set as abagusiiglobalradio@yahoo.com.

Please verify that the email address for the domain admin/registrant is your own email address, via your domain host, as a confirmation email is sent to your domain admin and registrant e-mail addresses as part of the domain transfer process.

Make sure to check your inbox for an email from support@wix.com and make sure to click on the approval link in the email.

      Please make sure to:
      • Check the inbox of the email account that you registered with your current domain host.
      • Check your Spam folder if you do not see the mail in your inbox.

You can find steps to transfer your domain to Wix here.

If the confirmation e-mail was sent to an outdated e-mail address, please note that you will need to wait for the current domain transfer request to fail in order to re-initiate the transfer process. Please note that it may take up to 7 days after the domain transfer request was initiated for it to fail.
