*This feature has not yet been released to all users.*

You can currently only transfer domains with the following extensions: .com, .org, .net, .biz, .info.

You can transfer your domain from another registrar to your Wix account. To transfer your domain, please verify that at least 60 days have passed since you registered or last transferred your domain and make sure that your domain is unlocked.

For more information please click here.

After a domain transfer is successful, your computer/browser might still be directed to the old site when you try to access the domain.

This normally resolves itself after several days depending on the router/browser settings but in order to fix this immediately you should clear your browsers cache and flush the DNS.

Note: Transferring your domain to Wix is not the same as connecting your domain to your Wix site. If you would like to keep your domain with your current domain host, but connect the domain to your Wix site, please click here to learn more.

Thanks, Nicole,

      Hi,

Thank you for contacting the Wix support team.

Your domain appears in your domain list with the status Pending Verification.

Note that during this process a few important emails will be sent to the email address that you had indicated when signing up with your old registrar.

It may take up to 24 hours for Wix to verify your domain transfer.

After Wix verifies your transfer, you will get an email from your current registrar approving your transfer request. Your domain status will then change to Pending Registry Approval

Verify that the email address for the domain admin/registrant is your own email address, as we will send a confirmation email to that address once the transfer is initiated. This email will expire after 5 days, so we recommend that you confirm the domain transfer as soon as possible. You can check your domain admin/registrant e-mail address(es) via the WHOIS database here.

You'll receive an email from support@wix.com, asking you to confirm your transfer request. The subject of the email is "DOMAIN NAME TRANSFER - Initial Authorization for Registrar". You must open this email (check your spam folder) and click Confirm within 5 days after the transfer request. If you do not confirm the email, the transfer process cannot be completed.

It may take up to seven days for the Registry to approve your transfer.

For more information about domain transfers please click here.

Feel free to contact us if you have any further questions!

      Many thanks, Barrios

      Hi,

      I apologize for the misunderstanding.

Upon initiating a domain transfer, an automatic email is sent to the domain’s admin email address as listed on the Who.is records.

Please make sure that your are checking the relevant mailbox.

If you missed the deadline, reinitiate the process, and confirm the transfer when the email arrives. Unfortunately, we cannot send out the email again, as this is an automatic process.

Note that the email sometimes goes straight to the Spam folder.

Don't hesitate to contact us again,

      Ella

I have two existing web sites that I would like to transfer and redesign to wix. Also can I keep my email?

Wix cannot import websites not made by Wix unfortunately. You can however design new websites on Wix. Start by visiting our templates page.

You can of course still use an email address you have form a different provider. Start from building a site, later on connect a domain and then connect your email address.

    Hello,

I transferred my domain name over from weebly to wix. I am worried about the domain name expiring and leaving my possession. I have already re-routed the DNS but the domain still expires from the weebly name server in August. Is there a way to immediately renew the domain using wix?

Please note: your domain is not transferred, but only connected to your Wix site.

You can read about the difference between transferring and connecting here.

You can either renew your domain at your host or to transfer your domain to Wix.

    Hello,

I have a question due to linking our domain to our website. I purchased a domain from Godaddy and tried to link it to our website. I followed all the steps due to your suggestions. But some browser can open it and some can not. For example we can see the webpage in Google Chrome but can not see it in Firefox and Explorer.

Also some computer can see the webpage but some can not.

In Firefox and Explorer it has double www. (www.www.).

    Our domain is www.asliveonurevleniyor.com

    Could you possibly chechk it?

    Regards,
    Asli

      Hey,

      Thank you for reaching out,

I can see you've set up to connection properly, please allow 72 hours to pass for the changes you made to propagate and for your site to be fully available on all platforms.

If the problem persists beyond that period of time please let us know immediately.

All the best, Dean - Wix Team

Hello, I've been trying for over a week or so to transfer my domain from Yola, to Wix. I have followed all the instructions and just checked both here and on Yola again and everything seems to be correct apart from the fact that my site still doesn't open up!?

Please can you double check this for me? If I have changed all the necessary names and on here it shows up then why won't it connect? I'm becoming very frustrated with this as it seems quite simple.

    Thanks in advance,
    Michele Payne

      Hi Michele,

First, please note that your domain michelepayne.com hasn't been transferred to Wix, but has only been connected to our servers. For detailed information about the differences between transferring and connecting a domain to Wix, click here.

As you can see here your domain is properly connected to Wix using our Name Servers (ns1.wix.com and ns2.wix.com). I have also accessed your Wix site using this domain and was able to view it live properly. Have a look at the screenshot below:

Please note, once a domain is properly connected to Wix, it may take up to 72 hours for the changes to fully propagate for all locations. If 72 hours have passed and the issue persists, please clear your browser's cache and check again. You can find step by step instructions here.

If you need any further assistance, please let us know.

    Hi,

I already have an Australian domain name (www.drydax.com.au) that is hosted by Irekon. The current cost for hosting with Irekon is $19.95. I am currently looking at updating my website and making an e-commerce site with Wix. As my site is a '.com.au' I cannot transfer, however, you have suggested that I can connect my current domain name to a new Wix site via names servers.

I am just wondering if I make an e-commerce site with Wix, will I have to pay the $19.90 a month for that site and then an additional $19.95 to Irekon for still hosting the site/month?

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Morgan

      Hi Morgan,

The e-commerce plan (which also includes upgrading your website and allowing domain connection) and domain hosting and are different services, and hence you will have to pay for both.

We are here should you require any further assistance.

    Help with Domain hosting transfer

Hi Wix, when I opened my Wix premium account I already had a domain name registered (through Wordpress). That licence is about to expire (11.07.2014) and I would like to switch the domain hosting to Wix so that the site doesn't go down and I then have to reapply for the domain name. Please advise on how I do this. Many thanks, Ed

      Hi,

The domain triptouae.com  has been submitted to the Registry to finalize the transfer.

Have you received the confirmation email from Wix and accepted the terms?

Please verify that the email address for the domain admin/registrant is your own email address, as we will send a confirmation email to that address once the transfer is initiated.

Here you can check your email address (under 'Admin Email').

If the transfer fails - Repeat the transfer domain process. Then, check your inbox for an email from support@wix.com and make sure to click on the approval link in the email.

Follow the instructions here to re-initiate the domain transfer request.

      Thanks,

I received an email for my previous application, not for this one. Because one of my transfer had failed already.

I appreciate if we can finish the process immediately as i am running out of time.

      Thank you

Please wait for the 7-day period to be over, then click on the link under Domains next to your domain name that reads Domain transfer failed, in the same location where it now reads Pending registry approval.

When you click on it, you can use this link to unravel the reason for the failure of the domain transfer process.

Please use this checklist to make sure you have everything sorted out before re-initating the domain transfer process.

Thank you, please let us know in case you need further help.

      Hi,

I see your domain triptouae.com is pending registry approval (you can see the progress of your domain transfer under Subscriptions > Domains).

Please check  your admin email in who.is, you will receive a domain transfer conformation email in this account (check junk and trash folders)

It may take up to seven days for the Registry to approve your transfer.

If you did not receive this please wait for the domain transfer to fail and re-initiate the process.

We are happy to assist should you have any further questions.

      Many thanks, Barrios

    Hi,

I have followed all the instructions and twice tried to transfer my domain name from NetRegistry to Wix but both times I have not received an email asking for my approval/confirmation to transfer the domain.

My email address is correct on the domain and I have given the correct authorisation code (EPP code) to transfer it.

This has taken a month now to get to this stage, so I am keen to sort out the problem.

    Thanks,

    Mark
