*This feature has not yet been released to all users.*

You can currently only transfer domains with the following extensions: .com, .org, .net, .biz, .info, .co, .guru, .email, .expert, and .tv

You can transfer your domain from another registrar to your Wix account. To transfer your domain, please verify that at least 60 days have passed since you registered or last transferred your domain and make sure that your domain is unlocked.

For more information please click here.

After a domain transfer is successful, your computer/browser might still be directed to the old site when you try to access the domain.

This normally resolves itself after several days depending on the router/browser settings but in order to fix this immediately you should clear your browsers cache and flush the DNS.

Note: Transferring your domain to Wix is not the same as connecting your domain to your Wix site. If you would like to keep your domain with your current domain host, but connect the domain to your Wix site, please click here to learn more.

Thanks, Nicole,

I'm trying to transfer my domain (leneecurtisphotography.com) from Network Solutions to Wix.  I've upgraded my Wix to the Unlimited plan.  I believe I've done everything that I need to do with NS to get the transfer started and I've even obtained my authorization code a couple of days ago from them.  However, when I try to transfer the domain over to Wix, I get the message below.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

      Thanks for contacting us.

As Wix is a re-seller of Network Solutions, it is impossible to transfer a domain from Network Solutions to Wix.

      I apologize for the inconvenience.

Don't hesitate to contact us again,

So, if that's the case and I want to completely cancel my services with NS and want that domain on Wix, how long would it take to be able to use that domain on Wix?  Also, would I be able to claim that domain as my "free for a year" one?

      Hi Lenee,

Basically you would need to wait for the domain to expire and then wait for the redemption period to end after which it will be free to the general public and you can try claim it through Wix. We don't generally recommend this option as there is a chance of losing the domain and a bit of downtime as well.

      Best regards

Please note that your domain has been successfully transferred to Wix.

To assign your domain to your Wix site: Sign in to your Wix account > from the menu at the top, hover over Subscriptions > click Domains > next to the relevant domain, click Manage.

Under Domain Connects To, click Change > select a site > click Save.

      Hi gstichmedia,

I checked your account. Which domain are you referring to?

I don't see any domain waiting for the approval. But I see "kleinpeterdvm.com" was registered today. Did you get the email for the registration approval and did you answer it?

Please let us know, if you should require further assistance.

Hello, I recently built a free site on wix for my company because I am sick of my current developer not updating my website.  I want to upgrade my account and have my current domain link to my new wix page.  The only problem is that my current domain is registered under the guy that built my website.  I have paid for it and for years.  Do I have a legal right to get that domain name from him, and if so how since the registrar email is to him.  thank you

Please note that you will need to gain access of your domain from your developer and you will need to talk to him or to the domain hosting company. Once you've managed, please user the instructions here to connect the domain to your site.

I can see that your domain's privacy protection is still activated, meaning that your domain admin email and your domain registrant e-mail are currently set as JAYBEEXPORTS.COM@domainsbyproxy.com

Please make sure that you turn off your domain privacy protection, and verify that the email address for the domain admin/registrant is your own email address, via your domain host. A confirmation email is sent to your domain admin and registrant e-mail addresses as part of the domain transfer process.

Make sure to check your inbox for an email from support@wix.com and make sure to click on the approval link in the email.

      Please make sure to:
      • Check the inbox of the email account that you registered with your current domain host.
      • Check your Spam folder if you do not see the mail in your inbox.

You can find steps to transfer your domain to Wix here.

If your domain privacy protection prevented you from receiving this confirmation e-mail, please note that you will need to wait for the current domain transfer request to fail in order to re-initiate the transfer process. Please note that it may take up to 7 days after the domain transfer request was initiated for it to fail.

      Best regards.

I have followed all WIX instructions and still can't get my Domain transferred to Wix. Have contacted the registrar and the problem is at this end. What do I do? Sure would be nice to have a person to talk to.

If the problem is at the domain hosts side you should ask them what the problem seems to be.

If you like, you can tell us what the domain name is that you want to transfer and we can take a look on its information.

      Best, Ritti

Thank you for contacting the Wix support team.

Your domain appears in your domain list with the status Pending Verification.

Note that during this process a few important emails will be sent to the email address that you had indicated when signing up with your old registrar.

It may take up to 24 hours for Wix to verify your domain transfer.

After Wix verifies your transfer, you will get an email from your current registrar approving your transfer request. Your domain status will then change to Pending Registry Approval

Verify that the email address for the domain admin/registrant is your own email address, as we will send a confirmation email to that address once the transfer is initiated. This email will expire after 5 days, so we recommend that you confirm the domain transfer as soon as possible. You can check your domain admin/registrant e-mail address(es) via the WHOIS database here.

You'll receive an email from support@wix.com, asking you to confirm your transfer request. The subject of the email is "DOMAIN NAME TRANSFER - Initial Authorization for Registrar". You must open this email (check your spam folder) and click Confirm within 5 days after the transfer request. If you do not confirm the email, the transfer process cannot be completed.

It may take up to seven days for the Registry to approve your transfer.

For more information about domain transfers please click here.

Feel free to contact us if you have any further questions!

      Many thanks, Barrios

      I apologize for the misunderstanding.

Upon initiating a domain transfer, an automatic email is sent to the domain’s admin email address as listed on the Who.is records.

Please make sure that your are checking the relevant mailbox.

If you missed the deadline, reinitiate the process, and confirm the transfer when the email arrives. Unfortunately, we cannot send out the email again, as this is an automatic process.

Note that the email sometimes goes straight to the Spam folder.

Don't hesitate to contact us again,

Wix cannot import websites not made by Wix unfortunately. You can however design new websites on Wix. Start by visiting our templates page.

You can of course still use an email address you have form a different provider. Start from building a site, later on connect a domain and then connect your email address.
