To transfer a domain purchased through Wix to a different account: Sign in to your Wix account > from the top menu, click Subscriptions > click Domains > next to the relevant domain, click Manage.

Under Domain Summary, click the Advanced tab > on the right, click Transfer to a different Wix account > follow the instructions in the pop-up window.

    Hi,

    Trying to transfer a domain from Wix to another Wix account. I tried following the instructions provided.

    "Simply click on "Manage" next to your Wix Domain -> click on the "Advanced" tab > and click "Transfer to a different Wix account" > then follow the instructions."

    But after I click manage, I do not have an advanced tab... Kinda confused.

      To disconnect your domain from your Wix site, please ask your hosting company not to point your domain to the Wix IP address or disconnect it from the Wix Name Servers (NS1.WIX.COM and NS2.WIX.COM).

    Hello,

    I am in the process of transferring my domain away from Wix.  The company I am moving to says that the domain name is still unavailable.  I have private registration turned off and have received my transfer code.  Does Wix still need to UN-lock my domain or is there another reason my domain name is still unavailable?

      Hey Christie,

      Are you trying to purchase your domain with your new host?

      Please note that this domain cannot be purchased because you are already its owner- that is why it is unavailable.

       

      You need to transfer it.

      Please check with your new domain hosting company what steps need to be taken in order to transfer your domain using the code we supplied you.

      Hi Yotam,

      Thank you for your reply.  I have be going thru these transfer steps:

      "Before starting the transfer, you must:

      Contact your existing registrar to unlock your domain and get the authorization code.

      Make your administrative contact public. 

      Type your domain name in the box below and click the red arrow to proceed.

      Check the box labeled "Yes, I'm authorized to initiate the transfer of registrar." and click "continue".  Follow the prompts on your screen to start the transfer request......"

       

      I can't get to the check box "Yes, I'm authorized to initiate the transfer of registrar", because it tells me my domain is already registered.  I am then given the option to point my DNS away from Wix to the new the new host.

      As we are not familiar with your new host's site and functions we recommend that you contact them directly and explain your situation.

      Ask them what needs to be done in order to process this transfer.

      If they reply that there are steps that need to be taken on our end please notify us so that we can help.

      What the tech @ 1and1 said is that it seems my domain name has not been unlocked/released by Wix.  

      Here is their transfer page:

      Please go through the steps to transfer your domain away from Wix once again and check that you have done everything correctly.

      You should receive an email from us verifying that the process has been completed. 

      Click here for the instructions on how to transfer it to a different host.

      Yotam,

      I went back thru the transfer my domain away from Wix process, again.  I have received a new transfer code via email.  Still no good :(

       

      The only difference I see is that where your tutorial wants my privacy protection to say public mine reads like this...

      Privacy Protection : Private, Off

       

      I only have the options available to me to either turn it off or on, not make public.  Could this be this issue?

    Hi,

    I ve created a site and purchased premium package with 1 year free domain last year. Due some technical problems with the bank account, my site expired. When I have realised that, I ve started checking last invoices.  I ve found out that couple months ago, wix upgraded my plan from combo to unlimited without any notice (still not happy about that). I didnt see any choice and canceled the package + remade my site with wixeditor (used html instead of flash this time). Now, I ve upgraded to premium again, but cannot use my "old" domain as I get "This domain is no longer registered by Wix" message. Doesnt seems that its registred anywhere else. So what are my options to get it connected to my new site?  thanks

      Please note that your domain name rbbarchitekti.com is currently in a "redemption period." During this period, all WHOIS information is erased. It usually takes about 30-35 days for the domain name to be released after it is deleted for nonpayment.

       

      Please be aware that you are able to reactivate and renew the domain registration, through the payment of an additional fee. The cost of reactivation during this period is $250.

       

      Alternatively, you can wait until the domain name is released, and available to the general public (please note the risk that someone else could secure the domain name).

       

      You can read more about the redemption period here.

      Thank you for your response. Unfortunately $250 is currently over my budget so I will wait through redemption period or use different domain.

      Hi,

       

      If you have purchased a Wix domain, but have decided to transfer it away from Wix, you can do so easily from the Wix Domain Manager.


      To transfer your Wix domain from Wix:

      1. From your Domain Manager, under My Domains, next to your Wix domain, click Manage.

      2. Under Domain Summary, click the Advanced tab.

      3. Next to Transfer away from Wix, click Transfer (please make sure to turn off Private Registration if it is on).

      4. In the Transfer window, click Send.

      5. An email with a code will be sent to you. Forward this code to your new domain registrar.
      You may not receive the email immediately, but you can expect to receive it on the same day.

      Your Wix domain is transferred from Wix


      Important notice: In accordance with ICANN rules, you cannot transfer your domain to another provider until 60 days after you register or transfer your domain.

    Hi Wix Team

    I purchased my domain name from Wix, but due to certain constraint i had no choice but to migrate to a homepage maker. They provided me with primary and secondary name server information, and asked me to change the DNS at Wix in order to transfer or switch my domain name over to them.

    I have been trying but to no avail, could you advice how i can transfer my existing domain www.j-beadasia.com to my new hosting provider?

      It seems you are mixing between two things. Changing DNS is keeping the domain with the same domain provider but adjusting it to it connects with a site, transferring a domain is taking a domain from one domain provider to a different domain provider. Which of these two options would you like to do?

      Thank you for your reply.

      My apologies for the confusion, i have checked and confirm that i would like to change DNS while keeping the domain with the same provider which is Wix but adjusting it to connect with a site.

      I received primary & secondary name server information, so would you be able to help and advice how can i change these details at my end?

      Hi Denis, 

       

      Unfortunately, it is impossible to connect a domain that's hosted with Wix to different name servers. You need either to transfer the domain to a different host, or to connect it to an external site with A records. 

      An A (address) record is a DNS record that can be used to point your domain name and host names to a static IP address.

    If i transfer my wix site to a different domain (123-reg), can i still edit it in Wix as normal???

      You are unable to transfer your Wix site but you can transfer your domain.

      You can still edit your site in Wix even if you transfer your domain.

    a friend made a new wix website for me.  i gave her our domain name and she put it under her wix account.  now she is trying to transfer the domain to my new wix accout and give me the rights to administer the website, however we can't link it.  is this possible to do?
