      Hey Bill

You can connect the domain to your Wix site using name servers.

When connecting your domain to the Wix name servers there are two important steps that you must complete.

      1) Firstly you must go to Subscriptions > Domains) and add your domain.
For more information, please click here.
      2) Please contact your domain host and ask them to connect your domain via the name servers (ns1.wix.com & ns2.wix.com).

Both of these steps are essential and the omission of either will result in a domain that’s not connected correctly.
You can troubleshoot your domain here.

Note: Please make sure to firstly add your domain name under the Wix domain manager

    Dear Wix,

I'm currently using Dot5Hosting to host my website and I bought my domain from them as well. I created an account with wix to create a new website and I still working on it.

My question is: Once I'm done creating my wix website how can I make it work with my domain name?

Please help I'm really confuse and I don't want to waste my time working on my wix site if I'm not going to be able to make it work.

    Waiting for your help

      Hi Val!

What you could do, is to maintain your existing domain subscription and simply have it point to your Wix site! This means that you'll continue to pay your current host for the domain hosting and they'll control your domain records, but the domain will be directing your viewers to your Wix site.

To connect your Wix site to your domain, you will need to upgrade to one of the following premium plans:

      - Connect Domain Plan (this plan does not remove Wix ads)
      - Combo Plan
      - Unlimited Plan
      - eCommerce Plan

To learn more about our premium plans and what they include, please click here.

If you have already purchased a domain from another hosting company, click here to learn how to connect it to your Wix site.

In order to complete the process, you will need to ask your current hosting company (the company you purchased your domain name from), to point your domain to the Wix server using the following CNAMES: ns1.wix.com & ns2.wix.com.

I hope this helps! Please feel free to contact us again for any future assistance!

      Hi!

I can see that you have properly assigned your domain to your Premium site, however, the pointing configuration with your registrar isn't updated with the Wix name servers.

In order to complete the domain connection process, please ask your hosting company (where you purchased your domain name from) to point your domain to the Wix server using the following cnames:

      ns1.wix.com

      ns2.wix.com

Note that once they have made the changes, the domain can take 72 hours to fully propagate.

Let us know if you require any further assistance!

I checked your domain conenction and it appears that your pointing configuration in your registrar (not Wix, but your actual domain host) is incorrect. If your registrar is Godaddy click here, otherwise here

We are here should you require further assistance.

    Go Daddy Domain

So I'm sure this has been covered before. I made my free wix site just the way I want. I went to Go Daddy and purchased the domain I want. I followed all instructions to connect them listed here (http://www.wix.com/support/main/html5/domains/connecting-domains-hosted-elsewhere/connecting-your-godaddy-domain-name-servers#). Now it tells me I have to wait 60 days or pay a monthly fee to Wix (which would give me a domain for much more than Go Daddy)??? The 60 day wait is unacceptable from a business aspect. I've already bought promotional materials to advertise the new domain. Makes the Wix site worthless. Is there a way around this or should I just go elsewhere?

      Hi richlipski,

      Thanks for contacting us.

The 60 days restriction applies for the case that you want to transfer your domain to Wix.

However, you can connect your domain to Wix following the instructions in the best reply of this thread.

Please check it and if you have any doubts don't hesitate to come back to us.

      Hey Hadi

Indeed, connecting a domain to a Wix site requires an upgrade to a premium plan.

I can see that you have upgraded today and your site is up and running- which is great!

Please let us know if you need any further assistance.

Please help. My domain name isn't working with my Wix site

Good day, I am in need of some assistance. I have followed all the instructions I could but I've seem to have missed a step. I have purchased a domain: stumpstandards.com (through Blue host) back in grad school and would still like to use it.

Attached is my current "zone editor" page. Can you spot the issue? I hope so. Ive waited the necessary72 hours and really cant afford to wait much longer.

      Hello,

We can see that your domain is connected properly to Wix, and it is running online just fine:

While browsing on the web, your computer and browser stores various information. This build up of information can sometimes cause conflict.
Please clear your browser's cache. You can find step by step instructions here.

If the issue remains, please provide us with a screen shot of what you see when you enter the domain address.

For instructions on how to take a screenshot, please use this link.

To upload the screenshot, simply click on the "Upload" button and follow the steps.

Thank you, we are awaiting your reply.

    Hi Guys,

Thank you so much for the response, it is unfortunately still not working!!!!

I sent your reply to my domain registrar in verbatim & they called me to say that when they connect it, it now gives an error with a 2 x www e.g. www.www.thelittleredcompany.co.za

They have asked me to forward you the following message:

Please forward us the A record and the www. record for  thelittleredcompany.co.za so that we can make the correct update on our system.

Looking forward to your swift response.

      Hi Leanda,

      Thanks for contacting us!

I can see you have recently connected your domain. Please note that after such a change, the domain is going into a propagation state. This means it might take up to 72 hours for the domain to be properly connected.

During this period, common issues are double www sets (www.www.domain.com), domain redirecting to free site URL, or domain available on some platforms only. All of these problems are symptoms of the propagation state.

Please allow 72 hours to pass.

Should the problem persist after this period of time, please let us know.

      Ella

      Hey Leanda,

I am sorry you are experiencing difficulties.

Please note that your domain is not properly connected to your Wix site. To connect a domain to a Wix site, we recommend connecting the name servers (NS) to Wix. This means that the domain is still located at the original host (where you purchased your domain name from), but the domain redirects to the Wix site.
When you connect your domain to Wix by nameservers, we can offer support and assist you in creating any DNS records you might need.

To solve this problem simply send your domain hosting company (where you purchased your domain name from) the following message:

"I have built a site on Wix.com. Please connect my domain to their Name Servers - NS1.WIX.COM (IP address 216.139.213.90) and NS2.WIX.COM (IP address 95.211.144.195)"

After sending your message, please allow up to 72 hours for changes to take effect (propagate).

Here you can find your current NS records and also check if they have been updated.

      Thanks,

      Alina, Wix Support Team

      Hi Alina,

Unfortunately as I explained previously, the hosting company needs an IP address, as well as the DNS details.

However the following details & those you provided above did not work:

      Hello littleredpicnic,
      Not littleredpicnic? Click here
To connect your domain to Wix, setup your DNS records as follows:

For yourdomain.com, create an A record that points to: 23.236.62.147

For www.yourdomain.com, create a Cname record that points to: www154.wixdns.net

For m.yourdomain.com, create a Cname record that points to: www154.wixdns.net

They then asked me to get the following information from you:

Please forward us the A record and the www. record for  thelittleredcompany.co.za so that we can make the correct update on our system.

Looking forward to your swift response.

      Best,

      Leanda

    • Or Y Wix Team

Replied by Or Y 4 days ago

      Hello Leanda,

As mentioned at the widget where you saw this information, your domain host should change your NS records to ns1.wix.com and ns2.wix.com, and the A record and CNAME would be changed automatically:

      A record: 23.236.62.147

      CNAMES:

      www.domain.com > www154.wixdns.net

      m.domain.com > www154.wixdns.net

Please make sure these are the records after your domain host changes the NS records to the mentioned above.

According to this who.is report, your domain is not active. Please renew it via your domain host or in case the 30-day redemption period is over, re-purchase it via your domain or via Wix.

Please let us know in case you need further help.

      All the best, Or
