There are two reasons why you might receive this error when trying to connect a domain to your Wix site.

1) You have previously added the domain to your My Domains section.
In this case, to connect your domain to your site: Sign in to your Wix account > from the top menu, hover over Subscriptions > click Domains > next to the relevant domain name, click Manage > under Domain Connects To, click Change > choose the site you want to use > click Save.

2) The domain is already in a My Domains section of another account.
In this case, if you have another Wix account, please delete the domain from the My Domains section of your other account.
If you do not have another account, then please let us know the domain name and we will remove it for you (provided that you are the owner of the domain).

    I have the Domain is already taken message and am trying to get to the "Connect to" tab to ckick Change but nothing like this comes up under My Account.  Please help!

      I understand you are receiving an error message when trying to connect your domain to a different Wix site.


      There are two explanations for this:

      * You have previously added the domain to your domain manager.
      If this is the case, please follow these steps:
      1. Click Subscriptions > Domains > click Manage next to the domain that you want to use.
      2. A new page will open -> click Change (under to "Domain Connects To:").
      3. Choose the site you want to use -> click on Save.

      * The domain is already in a domain manager of another account.
      If this is the case, and you have another Wix account, please delete the domain from the domain manager of your other account.
      If you do not have another account, then please let us know the domain name and we will remove it for you (assuming that you are the owner of the domain).

       

      Please contact us if you require any assistance.

      By the way, I did have another Wix account but I asked for it to be deleted and received an email saying that had been done.  However, I did not attempt to connect the domain to this previous account.

      When I click on Subscriptions, then Domains I get Manage premium.  I click on Use a Domain you already know, then Connect your Domain to Wix but keep your current resgistrar.  I enter www.andytaylorgolf.co.uk in the box under 'set up with Wix' and thats when I get the message, Sorry, this domain name is used by another Wix user which can't be possible.  Can you please help as I don't see an option that allows me to click Change.

      I think it was louiseis31@hotmail.com.  I tried to delete this account but couldn't.  Can you delete it at the same time as transferring the connection of the domain?

    Hi,

    The previous owner has confirmed they have deleted the domain from their Wix account but I still can't connect this domain to my Premium account. Domain: www.ilovethings.co.za

    Hi Wix,

    We recently transferred the site www.acadpublicdesign.ca from the developer's account to a user account. I've since upgraded the destination account and am trying to reconnect the domain to the transferred version. I'm receiving the 'Domain already taken'.

    Can this be resolved?

      Hi RH,

       

      You just need to ask the developer to delete the domain configuration under his account, to do so he just needs to click the red x next to the domain under his domains tab of the manage premium.

    I have the same problem as many others. I own and manage pattyweinstein.com at EasyDNS but can't  add it to this Wix account. It says it is being used by another user.

      As I'm doing this for a friend, and you don't know me, how can you tell? You will receive an email from a 3rd party with a renewal invoice that won't match the owner of the account.

      What google does is have the domain admin put a TXT record in the DNS that will let you know I can manage the DNS for this domain. I will not be transferring the registration to Wix.

      I apologize for the confusion, as you have indeed upgraded to a premium plan (Combo monthly)- which absolutely does enable domain connection.

      When connecting your domain to the Wix name servers there are two important steps that you must complete.

       
      1) Firstly you must go to your Wix Domain Manager (My Account > Manage Premium > Domains) and add your domain. 
      For more information, please click here.
      2) Please contact your domain host and ask them to connect your domain via the name servers (ns1.wix.com & ns2.wix.com).
       
      Both of these steps are essential and the omission of either will result in a domain that’s not connected correctly.
      You can troubleshoot your domain here.
       
      Note: Please make sure to firstly add your domain name under the Wix domain manager

      Yes, you can use your own domain with Wix!

       

      You can either connect your domain to Wix using NS or you can transfer your domain to Wix (so that Wix will become your domain host).

    יש את הבעיה שתוארה לעיל

    שקלטתי את הדומיין בחצי תהליך, ועכשיו רוצה לסיים את התהליך - אבל השרת אומר שהוא כבר תפוס. 

    ניסיתי לעקוב אחר ההוראות לעיל, ולא הצלחתי. 

    לא מצאתי את כפתור הmanage שמתואר בתשובה לעיל. 

    אשמח להסבר היכן אני מוצאת אותו

    Hello Support,

    I recently transferred my www.helenatty.com domain from my boyfriend's account to my own but when I try to connect the domain it "Sorry, this domain name is used by another Wix user." I have deleted that site entirely from his account and I am paying the premium fee with my own card. Please advise.
