Wix never deletes sites and you  are welcome to continue using the free version without any additional upgrades for as long as you like.

Once you publish your site, your site will then have a URL of the following format:

If you would like to connect your own domain you will need to first upgrade to premium.

Hi Wix, I have been publishing my site that I made through your website but whenever I publish it, I cannot search the website through google and i have to type in my site's address on the address bar. I want my site to be visible in google whenever I type in the keywords. Do I have to upgrade it order to be visible in search engine? Please answer.

You don't have to upgrade but it will help. If you upgrade and obtain a domain it will go a long way towards improving search engine visibility. Being found through search engines is far from being automatic, improve your chances by reading about SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and building your site accordingly. Click here.

Hello, I have a gift shop, I saw an ad that this website is free, viewing the comments, I guess basic alone is free, when it comes to customers checking out and buying.........this that part of the basic package?

    • Jonathan Wix Team

Replied by Jonathan July 13, 2014

An online store is not a basic feature, it requires you to upgrade with an eCommerce premium plan. Alternatively we have some store apps available in the app market through the editor, each store has it's price, features and conditions for activating it.

So I have to purchase an upgrade to publish my domain? Even if I don't purchase my domain from Wix? Because that's the conclusion I am drawing from your links.

What happens if I cancel the plan after I publish the site? And will the site be editable if I can the Upgrade?

And if I purchase the Upgrade for a current site, will that upgrade be available if I want to connect a domain and publish a separate site?

Thank you for getting back to us. I will try answer each of your questions individually to keep it as clear as possible.

What happens if I cancel the plan after I publish the site?

If you cancel the upgrade the site will revert to the free version meaning the domain will no longer be connected and the other premium features will be removed.

And will the site be editable if I can the Upgrade?

The site is editable before and after upgrading.

And if I purchase the Upgrade for a current site, will that upgrade be available if I want to connect a domain and publish a separate site?

Upgrades are site specific, so if you would like to connect 2 domains to two sites that would require upgrading twice. You can however transfer the premium plan between sites under the same account.

Feel free to let us know if you require any more information

      Best regards

We've built our site through WIX, but have our own domain name and web hosting through crazy domains....... are we still able to upload our site to our own domain and existing web hoster? With or without a fee? Thanks

    • Danna Wix Team

I'm afraid that's not possible. Please bear in mind that Wix doesn't support the option of exporting files created using Wix to an external destination / Hosts as we host all your Wix creations on our servers.

The editor needs constant connection to our servers, it is not possible to work with it offline or save your pages to your computer.

We host all your Wix creations on our servers. The advantages of using Wix as your host include improvements to your site's loading time, search engine optimization and more.

You can connect your Wix site to your own domain! For information about how to do this, click here.

It is so utterly annoying when you find a good product, that the website states is FREE. Then you discover that if you really want to use this product, hey, it aint free. I understand nothing in life is FREE but I thought this would be free because of ads and such. The asking price is anyhow NOT high. It is quite cheap. So I will go for this premium deal with shoppingcart

Yes only the basic package is free, having a shopping cart and eCommrece features does require upgrading.
