    Hello,

DNS is the management of your domain – i.e. you use it anytime you point your domain to an IP address, redirect emails to your email host or connect different subdomains to different servers.

The difference between pointing to the Wix IP or connecting with name servers is really a difference in who has control over your DNS – Wix or your domain host.

Pointing your domain to the Wix IP means that your domain host retains control of your DNS and simply points your domain to the Wix servers (216.139.213.144).

Connecting to Wix using nameservers means that your DNS is transferred to Wix. Once your domain is connected to our nameservers, you have full control of your domain records by using the Wix Domain Manager. (Be sure to recreate all of the records in your DNS related to email and other services!).

For more information about Domain Management, click here.
If you're having trouble connecting your domain, click here..

So if you have the domain by DNS you can insert your MX records in our DNS manager and still have your emails active. ask your Email host for the MX records. You can find step by step instructions here .

    Hi alfredwashington,

When using a mobile site connected to your domain we recommend the DNS method. More information on domain management can be found here

Constance, I was told by Yahoo that the DNS method "could" affect my Yahoo Business email.  They are encourging me to point.  Thats my question, will using the DNS method affect my Yahoo Biz mail?  What exactly is the difference between the two methods?

Okay thanks Santi.  Now I understand, thank you for clearing that up.  One question though, when I set up my domain using your nameservers I was asked to choose my email provider from a drop down menu.  I have Yahoo Business email so I chose that one from the menu.  Do I still need to request my MX records from Yahoo and enter them manually or is that already done since I selected my provider from the drop down menu.  Please advise.

When you select a provider from the drop down menu, it will automatically (and accurately) fill in the information for your mx records.

    Hope this helps!
