The essential joy of being with horses is that it brings us in contact with the rare elements of grace, beauty, spirit, and fire. ~Sharon Ralls Lemon
Leah Holmes has been training and riding horses for over 12 years. During those 12 years, she has become well versed at starting and finishing foals and green-broke horses. She trains and rides in many disciplines, such as: Three Day Eventing, Dressage, Jumpers, Hunter-Jumpers, Gymkanna, Western Pleasure, English Pleasure, and even Jousting. She also has experience with many different breeds: quarter horses, mustangs, arabians, thoroughbreds, various warmbloods, andalusians, lusitanos, and even Draft horses (percherons, belgians, ect.).
The most recent project, that is also used for lessons, was a PMU rescue that she gentled and trained(in pictures to the left). This once feral colt has now been competeing in three day events at UC Davis (on the event team), several hunter shows, multiple parades (UC Davis Picnic Day),Gymkanna events (on the UC Davis rodeo club), and even rode in the California State Fair in the Carousel of Horse breeds. In addition to have been teaching lessons for about 6 years now, she has also been certified as an instructor at UC Davis Equestrian Center and is getting her Bachelors Degree in Science at UC Davis for Equine Health and Management.
Training is tailored to the individual horse and rider/owner's needs and expectations. No horse or rider is the same and therefore there isn't a specific training mold that everyone fits in.
