Statement of Faith

Successful Life Word Ministries Intl. Inc. was started through an evangelical campaign by our mother church Evangel Fellowship Word Ministries, in 1989. On the site in which the church now stands, a revival was conducted over the period of several weeks, through services and neighborhood evangelism.The land was purchased and the existing church was built. The ministry has a long history of teaching foundational principles for lifelong success.We are identified with the Church Of God In Christ denominationally. This ministry is based on strong teaching of the foundational truths of the Word Of God. Prosperity is taught, but on the building blocks of sanctification, holiness and righteousness. A bridge of the old and the new we present a well balanced Gospel for all to share.Our church invites you out to experience what God is doing in this season!
• THE SCRIPTURESThe Bible is the inspired Word of God, the product of holy men of old who spoke and wrote as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. The New Covenant, as recorded in the New Testament, we accept as our infallible guide in matters pertaining to conduct and doctrine. (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:21; 1 Thessalonians 2:13)• THE GODHEADOur God is One, but manifested in three personsthe Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. (Philippians 2:6; John 14:21-26)God the Father is greater than all, and He is the Source of the Word (Logos) and the Begetter. (John 14:28; John 16:28; John 1:14)The Son is the flesh-covered Word, the One Begotten, and has existed with the Father from the beginning. (John 1:14; John 1:18; John 1:1)The Holy Spirit proceeds forth from both the Father and the Son and is eternal. (John 15:26)• MAN, HIS FALL AND REDEMPTIONMan is a created being, made in the likeness and image of God. But through Adam's transgression and fall, sin came into the world. The Bible tells us in Romans 3:23 that "All have sinned and come short of the glory of God." In Romans 3:10 it says, "As it is written, there is none righteous, no not one." Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was manifested to undo the work of the devil, and He gave His life and shed His blood to redeem and restore man back to God. (Romans 5:12; Romans 3:23; Romans 3:10; 1 John 3:8)Salvation is the gift of God to man, separate from works and the law, and is made operative by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, producing works acceptable to God. (Ephesians 2:8)• ETERNAL LIFE AND NEW BIRTHMan's first step toward salvation is godly sorrow that works repentance. The new birth is available to all mankind, and when Jesus Christ is accepted as Savior, salvation takes place. He is born again. His spirit becomes alive to God eternally. (2 Corinthians 7:10; 1 John 5:12; John 3:3-5)• WATER BAPTISMBaptism in water is by immersion. It is a direct commandment of our Lord, and it is for believers only. The ordinance is a symbol of the Christian's identification with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection. (Matthew 28:19; Romans 6:4; Colossians 2:12; Acts 8:36-39)The following recommendation regarding the water baptismal formula is adopted to wit:"On the confession of your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, and by His authority, I baptize you in the name of the Father, the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Amen."• BAPTISM IN THE HOLY SPIRITThe baptism in the Holy Spirit and fire is a gift from God. It is promised by the Lord Jesus Christ to those who are believers in this dispensation and is received subsequent to the new birth. This experience is accompanied by the initial evidence of the speaking in other tongues as the Holy Spirit Himself gives utterance. (Matthew 3:11; John 14:16-17; Acts 1:8; Acts 2:38-39; Acts 19:1-7; Acts 2:4)• SANCTIFICATIONThe Bible teaches that without holiness no man can see the Lord. We believe in the doctrine of sanctification as a definite, yet progressive, work of grace, which commences at the time of regeneration and continues until the consummation of salvation. (Hebrews 12:14; 1 Thessalonians 5:23; 2 Peter 3:18; 2 Corinthians 3:18; Philippians 3:12-14; 1 Corinthians 1:30)• DIVINE HEALINGHealing is for the physical ills of the human body and is wrought by the power of God through the prayer of faith and by laying on of hands. It is provided in the atonement of Christ, and it is the privilege of every member of the church today. (Mark 16:18; James 5:14-16; 1 Peter 2:24; Matthew 8:17; Isaiah 53:4-5)• RESURRECTION OF THE JUST AND THE RETURN OF OUR LORDThe angels said, "...this same Jesus shall so come in like manner..." (Acts 1:11). His coming is imminent. When He comes, "the dead in Christ shall rise first: then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air" (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17).Following the Tribulation, He shall return to earth, as KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS; and together with His saints, who shall be kings and priests, He shall reign a thousand years. (Revelation 19:16; Revelation 20:6)• HELL AND ETERNAL RETRIBUTIONThe person who physically dies in his sins without Christ is hopelessly and eternally lost in the lake of fire. Therefore, he has no further opportunity of hearing the Gospel or for repentance. The lake of fire is literal. The terms "eternal" and "everlasting" used in describing the duration of the punishment of the damned in the lake of fire carry the same thought and meaning of endless existence as used in noting the duration of joy and ecstasy of the saints in the presence of God. (Hebrews 9:27; Revelation 19:20; Revelation 20:15)

Lady Shearon Grant

Pastor Jassen R. Grant is a graduate of North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University where he holds a Bachelor of Science degree. He owns the accounting, consulting and small business services firm of CPI Financial Services Group, Inc.Responding to the call of God, Pastor Grant gave his life to the Lord at the age of 23. Over the years, he has been blessed to know only one man as his pastor and one church as his church home.Pastor Grant served in ministry under the direction of Apostle Otis Lockett, Sr. at Evangel Fellowship Word Ministries, in Greensboro North Carolina. He is an ordained elder in the Church Of God In Christ, where His Grace, The Most Reverend Charles Blake is the presiding Bishop and Chief Apostle. During his tenure as associate minister for 11 years God developed a strong teaching ministry and a burden for economic deliverance and literacy of His people.Pastor Grant was sent to re-ignite a work at Successful Life Word Ministries (previously named Maranatha Christian Center) in High Point, North Carolina in December 2000. The church consisted of only 12 members at that time. This assignment though, was a confirmation of a word God had spoken to him 11 years earlier that he would pastor this church. Through guidance from the Lord, the name of the ministry was changed to "Successful Life Word Ministries, Intl. Inc."Pastor Grant makes his home in Greensboro, North Carolina and is married to his wife of 15 glorious years Shearon Denise Grant, and has a full quiver of God's inheritance in his three children; Israel Alexander, Kennedi Olivia-Synclare, and Elysia Noel-Ani.

This He clearly stated in Matthew 28:19-20: "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations" To achieve His vision, Jesus worked closely with twelve men that He mentored to take His place on the earth. Following Jesus' pattern, the apostle Paul also trained a number of young men ("Timothys") who later became the great leaders of the New Testament Church. We call this mentoring technique the "principle of twelve."The number twelve is the number of government in the Bible. Jesus established His kingdom and government on the earth by using the same principle that God had used to establish Israel in the Old Testament. Just as Israel had twelve tribes, Jesus had twelve disciples. Using this pattern, Jesus intended to show us a model of how to disciple not only our local communities, but also the nations of the world.The "principle of twelve" was first implemented by Pastors César and Claudia Castellanos at International Charismatic Mission in Bogotá, Colombia. It is not a program, but the development of "fathering" relationships that help every believer become a multiplying leader who can disciple others.The VisionTo win souls and make disciplesThe GoalEvery believer a leaderThe MethodWIN THEM - New believers are added to the church through personal evangelism, weekend celebration church services, and monthly "net" meetings.CONSOLIDATE THEM - Both new believers and new church members are "plugged in" to the church through the consolidation process. Members of the consolidation team are assigned to new believers or new members to help enroll them in a weekly cell meeting, guide them through a short Pre-Encounter course, and register them to attend an Encounter Retreat. At this weekend retreat, they "encounter God" through teachings on inner healing, deliverance, baptism in the Holy Spirit, and the vision of the church. Following the retreat, they are encouraged to attend a ten-week new believers' class entitled Post-Encounter.DISCIPLE THEM - After completing the consolidation process, the new disciple enters the School of Leaders, which consists of three ten-week trimesters of study. During the second trimester, the students will open their own cells but will also continue meeting in their original cells, which now become their leadership, or G-12, groups.SEND THEM - As the disciple progresses through the School of Leaders, he opens his own cell and begins to develop his twelve, taking them through each step of the process of the vision: winning them, consolidating them, discipling them, and eventually sending them "to make disciples of all nations."

Tithing is Biblical and is for today!

Understanding the TitheThe tithe is more than just an Old Testament concept. Tithing was instituted before the law and is even found in the New Testament. Tithing is found in the Word of God as early as the book of Genesis. Abraham tithed to the high priest 400 years before the law was instituted through Moses.Genesis 14:17-20And the king of Sodom went out to meet him after his return from the slaughter of Chedorlaomer, and of the kings that were with him, at the valley of Shaveh, which is the king's dale. And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God. And he blessed him, and said, blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth: And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all.Foundational Tithing Principles1.Tithing is not just defined as a tenth, but the first tenth.2.Tithes were paid to the priests, but there were other instances in which tithes were paid to Kings. Special Note:Often times there are controversies as to whether or not to pay the tithes to ministers today, or to pay the tithe to the church. The Word of God supports paying of the tithe to the priest. Hebrews 7:1, 2For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of God Most High, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him, to whom also Abraham divided a tenth part of all (being first, by interpretation, King of righteousness, and then also King of Salem, which is King of peace;1 Samuel 8:10-18And Samuel told all the words of the Lord unto the people that asked of him a king. And he said, this will be the manner of the king that shall reign over you: He will take your sons, and appoint them for himself, for his chariots, and to be his horsemen; and some shall run before his chariots. And he will appoint him captains over thousands, and captains over fifties; and will set them to ear his ground, and to reap his harvest, and to make his instruments of war, and instruments of his chariots. And he will take your daughters to be confectionaries, and to be cooks, and to be bakers. And he will take your fields, and your vineyards, and your olive yards, even the best of them, and give them to his servants. And he will take the tenth of your seed, and of your vineyards, and give to his officers, and to his servants. And he will take your menservants, and your maidservants, and your goodliest young men, and your asses, and put them to his work. He will take the tenth of your sheep: and ye shall be his servants. And ye shall cry out in that day because of your king, which ye shall have chosen you; and the Lord will not hear you in that day.Numbers 18:21-24And, behold, I have given the children of Levi all the tenth in Israel for an inheritance, for their service, which they serve, even the service of the tabernacle of the congregation. Neither must the children of Israel henceforth come nigh the tabernacle of the congregation, lest they bear sin, and die. But the Levites shall do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation, and they shall bear their iniquity: it shall be a statute forever throughout your generations, that among the children of Israel they have no inheritance. But the tithes of the children of Israel, which they offer as an heave offering unto the Lord, I have given to the Levites to inherit: therefore I have said unto them, Among the children of Israel they shall have no inheritance.3.The tithe is not the same as the First Fruit offering. The first fruit offering was received as a tenth.4.The tithe was the tenth of the flock and or the harvest that the people lived off of. There were times when the people lived to far and had too much by way of tithe and could not reasonably bring their tithes to the temple. They were allowed to sell a portion for money, which enabled them to make to make the journey. They then were to buy the equivalent in harvest or flock and present their tithes at the temple.Deuteronomy 14:22-27Thou shalt truly tithe all the increase of thy seed that the field bringeth forth year by year. And thou shalt eat before the Lord thy God, in the place which he shall choose to place his name there, the tithe of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thine oil, and the firstlings of thy herds and of thy flocks; that thou mayest learn to fear the Lord thy God always. And if the way be too long for thee, so that thou art not able to carry it; or if the place be too far from thee, which the Lord thy God shall choose to set his name there, when the Lord thy God hath blessed thee: Then shalt thou turn it into money, and bind up the money in thine hand, and shalt go unto the place which the Lord thy God shall choose: And thou shalt bestow that money for whatsoever thy soul lusteth after, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatsoever thy soul desireth: and thou shalt eat there before the Lord thy God, and thou shalt rejoice, thou, and thine household, and the Levite that is within thy gates; thou shalt not forsake him; for he hath no part nor inheritance with thee.Note:There is a tendency for abuse with respect to paying tithes. Jesus had to drive out those that did not wish to handle correctly the paying of the tithe. (Matthew 21:12, 13; Mark 11:15-17)5.When an individual does not pay their tithes a penalty of 20% of the tithe in addition to the tithe should be given. Christians must understand that repentance, asking God for mercy or other forms of forgiveness does not release the individual from the liability.Leviticus 27:28-34Notwithstanding no devoted thing, that a man shall devote unto the Lord of all that he hath, both of man and beast, and of the field of his possession, shall be sold or redeemed: every devoted thing is most holy unto the Lord. None devoted, which shall be devoted of men, shall be redeemed; but shall surely be put to death. And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the Lord's: it is holy unto the Lord. And if a man will at all redeem ought of his tithes, he shall add thereto the fifth part thereof. And concerning the tithe of the herd, or of the flock, even of whatsoever passeth under the rod, the tenth shall be holy unto the Lord. He shall not search whether it be good or bad, neither shall he change it: and if he change it at all, then both it and the change thereof shall be holy; it shall not be redeemed. These are the commandments, which the Lord commanded Moses for the children of Israel in Mount Sinai.6.The tithe is used when covenant is made with God. It is the sign of dedication and commitment to the Lord.Genesis 28:16-22 And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said, surely the Lord is in this place; and I knew it not. And he was afraid, and said, how dreadful is this place! This is none other but the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven. And Jacob rose up early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put for his pillows, and set it up for a pillar, and poured oil upon the top of it. And he called the name of that place Bethel: but the name of that city was called Luz at the first. And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on, So that I come again to my father's house in peace; then shall the Lord be my God: And this stone, which I have set for a pillar, shall be God's house: and of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto thee.7.Those that rendered tithes unto the Lord were required to give a verbal declaration of honesty in their giving.Deuteronomy 26:12-15 When thou hast made an end of tithing all the tithes of thine increase the third year, which is the year of tithing, and hast given it unto the Levite, the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, that they may eat within thy gates, and be filled; Then thou shalt say before the Lord thy God, I have brought away the hallowed things out of mine house, and also have given them unto the Levite, and unto the stranger, to the fatherless, and to the widow, according to all thy commandments which thou hast commanded me: I have not transgressed thy commandments, neither have I forgotten them. I have not eaten thereof in my mourning, neither have I taken away ought thereof for any unclean use, nor given ought thereof for the dead: but I have hearkened to the voice of the Lord my God, and have done according to all that thou hast commanded me. Look down from thy holy habitation, from heaven, and bless thy people Israel, and the land which thou hast given us, as thou swarest unto our fathers, a land that floweth with milk and honey.8.Jesus validated the paying of tithes in the New Testament.Matthew 23:23Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For ye pay tithe of mint an anise and cumin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.Another very important point that is brought out from this scripture is that Jesus shows us that the paying of tithes did not end in the Old Testament. He also identifies that judgment, mercy and faith are doctrines that are being carried over from the Old Covenant into the new; which shows even more so that there is no separation from the Old Covenant teachings.Matthew 5:17Think not that I am come to destroy the law or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill.
