questions Top Ten Questions 1>> What type of Church is SPV?The St. Pete Vineyard is a member of the Vineyard Movement which is a family of churches in the US & World wide; we welcome everyone, regardless of their beliefs. We are a Bible based community who places a high value on Worship, Authenticity, and Relevance for all ages. 2>> What are your services like?Our services are fun, engaging, and filled with opportunities to express our love for God through passionate worship, reflection on His Word and genuine friendship. Our services rarely run longer than 90 minutes. 3>> Will I have to do anything, say anything or give anything?You are free to come and observe or join in, whatever you prefer. You will not be asked or expected to do anything that you're not comfortable with. Our offerings are for those who call SPV their church home. 4>> What do you have for my children?We are pleased to offer a dynamic, creative and loving ministry to children from birth to 5th grade. During the worship service, we offer nursery and classes that are well supervised and creatively designed for your child's enjoyment. All of our Children's workers have had background checks as the safety of our children is of utmost importance. Our workers are available to greet you as you walk up & show you to the appropriate classrooms. 5>> What ministries or programs do you have?We offer several ways to get plugged in such as our weekly community groups, community outreaches, mens & womens groups, feeding the homeless, food pantry and more. Feel free to search our website for more info or pick up some of the materials available at our welcome center & in our program each week. 6>> How do I join SPV and get more involved?We welcome your involvement from day one. Since we stress relationships we always recommend trying out a community group to get to know some people or even simply going out to eat with a family or two after church. Ask the pastor, he loves to eat.7>> What type of people go to SPV?We welcome all people. The people who make up SPV are people just like you. We are a group of people who have experienced brokenness, failure, rejection and disappointment, but we have come to discover the incredible power of Jesus love and the grace with which He rebuilds our lives. 8>> How can I get to know the leadership of SPV and ask them questions?The Leadership of SPV is always available to answer your questions. You can always e-mail any specific questions you have to the pastor or any of our leaders for that matter. You are invited to join us at our next Newcomer Lunch which is an informal opportunity to meet Pastor Chris, his wife Crista and the rest of the staff and learn all the basic information about who we are and what were about.. 9>> What type of music do you play?Our music is relevant, personal and focused on the presence of God, not the performance of man. It is definitely not boring! 10>> Are there opportunities for me to use my gifts and talents at SPV?Absolutely! Few things make us happier than seeing people empowered to live out their dreams and destiny. We are committed to helping that happen in your life as soon as you feel comfortable jumping on board.

believe WHAT WE BELIEVE1. God the King and the Holy Trinity WE BELIEVE that God is the Eternal King. He is an infinite, unchangeable Spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, goodness, justice, power and love. From all eternity He exists as the One Living and True God in three persons of one substance, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, equal in power and glory. 2. God the King: The Creator and Ruler of All Things WE BELIEVE that God's kingdom is everlasting. From His throne, through His Son, His eternal Word, God created, upholds and governs all that exists: the heavenly places, the angelic hosts, the universe, the earth, every living thing and mankind. God created all things very good.3. Counterfeit Kingdom: Satan and Demonic Hosts WE BELIEVE that Satan, originally a great, good angel, rebelled against God, taking a host of angels with him. He was cast out of God's presence and, as a usurper of God's rule, established a counter-kingdom of darkness and evil on the earth. 4. The Kingdom in the Creation of Man, the Fall and The Doctrine of Original Sin WE BELIEVE that God created mankind in His own image, male and female, for relationship with Himself and to govern the earth. Under the temptation of Satan, our original parents fell from grace, bringing sin, sickness and God's judgment of death to the earth. Through the fall, Satan and his demonic hosts gained access to God's good creation. Creation now experiences the consequences and effects of Adam's original sin. Human beings are born in sin, subject to God's judgment of death and captive to Satan's kingdom of darkness.5. God's Providence, Kingdom Law and Covenants WE BELIEVE that God did not abandon His rule over the earth which He continues to uphold by His providence. In order to bring redemption, God established covenants which revealed His grace to sinful people. In the covenant with Abraham, God bound Himself to His people Israel, promising to deliver them from bondage to sin and Satan and to bless all the nations through them. WE BELIEVE that as King, God later redeemed His people by His mighty acts from bondage in Egypt and established His covenant through Moses, revealing His perfect will and our obligation to fulfill it. The law's purpose is to order our fallen race and to make us conscious of our moral responsibility. By the work of God's Spirit, it convicts us of our sin and God's righteous judgment against us and brings us to Christ alone for salvation.6. Christ the Mediator and Eternal King WE BELIEVE that in the fullness of time, God honored His covenants with Israel and His prophetic promises of salvation by sending His Son, Jesus, into the world. Conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary, as fully God and fully man in one person, He is humanity as God intended us to be. Jesus was anointed as God's Messiah and empowered by the Holy Spirit, inaugurating God's kingdom reign on earth, overpowering the reign of Satan by resisting temptation, preaching the good news of salvation, healing the sick, casting out demons and raising the dead. Gathering His disciples, He reconstituted God's people as His Church to be the instrument of His kingdom. After dying for the sins of the world, Jesus was raised from the dead on the third day, fulfilling the covenant of blessing given to Abraham. In His sinless, perfect life Jesus met the demands of the law and in His atoning death on the cross He took God's judgment for sin which we deserve as law-breakers. By His death on the cross He also disarmed the demonic powers. The covenant with David was fulfilled in Jesus' birth from David's house, His Messianic ministry, His glorious resurrection from the dead, His ascent into heaven and His present rule at the right hand of the Father. As God's Son and David's heir, He is the eternal Messiah- King, advancing God's reign throughout every generation and throughout the whole earth today.7. The Ministry of the Holy Spirit WE BELIEVE that the Holy Spirit was poured out on the Church at Pentecost in power, baptizing believers into the Body of Christ and releasing the gifts of the Spirit to them. The Spirit brings the permanent indwelling presence of God to us for spiritual worship, personal sanctification, building up the Church, gifting us for ministry, and driving back the kingdom of Satan by the evangelization of the world through proclaiming the word of Jesus and doing the works of Jesus. WE BELIEVE that the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Jesus Christ and that He is our abiding Helper, Teacher, and Guide. We believe in the filling or the empowering of the Holy Spirit, often a conscious experience, for ministry today. We believe in the present ministry of the Spirit and in the exercise of all of the biblical gifts of the Spirit. We practice the laying on of hands for the empowering of the Spirit, for healing, and for recognition and empowering of those whom God has ordained to lead and serve the Church.8. The Sufficiency of Scripture WE BELIEVE that the Holy Spirit inspired the human authors of Holy Scripture so that the Bible is without error in the original manuscripts. We receive the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments1 as our final, absolute authority, the only infallible rule of faith and practice.9. The Power of the Gospel Over the Kingdom of Darkness WE BELIEVE that the whole world is under the domination of Satan and that all people are sinners by nature and choice. All people therefore are under God's just judgment. Through the preaching of the Good News of Jesus and the Kingdom of God and the work of the Holy Spirit, God regenerates, justifies, adopts and sanctifies through Jesus by the Spirit all who repent of their sins and trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. By this they are released from Satan's domain and enter into God's kingdom reign.

Born and raised in St. Petersburg in a Christian home, Ken has been involved in music ministries for most, if not all, of his life. His life's passion is to see a global body of believers fully aware of their identity in Christ, freely worshiping God, completely disregarding how foolish or ridiculous that expression of worship might appear to be. Ken has been married to his teenage sweetheart, Amber since 1995 and they have two boys, Ethan and Jackson. When not listening to or singing some sort of music, Ken's spends his days as a software consultant. In the free times between music and work, Ken loves seeing what his boys can build with the way too many Legos they own, watching the Rays (and, sadly) the Bucs play and spending time with his wife, family and friends.The verse: Hebrews 10:16-17: 16"This is the covenant I will make with them after that time, says the Lord. I've lived in Florida since I was little, and I love St. Pete! Went to UF for undergrad and grad school...Go Gators! I'm a person who's extremely driven. I am not greedy, but if there is something I do want, then I am like the princess and the pea until I get it. One of my most satisfying experiences was to live my dream of going on a research trip in Mexico about whale sharks and Manta Rays! There's nothing like swimming next to the largest fish in the ocean! I love the Vineyard because I've found it to be a place where you're free to be the person that God made you to be. Which is cool because I've never been good at being a clone. I love working in the children's ministry because I love kids...that is to say, I love people, but only for a little while. (okay, that's a funny quote from one of my favorite comedians) My wish for the world is to see an end to genocide.A 'life verse": 2 Peter 3:9 "The Lord isnt really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent." It's always God's will for every person to be saved!!If I could spend all my days under the sea, I would! But since the nearest decent coral reef is like 6 hours away, instead I like to ride my bike, spend time at the beach, and the best thing in the world for me is to have dates with my 5yr old, Mara Jade. Other hobbies include working out and pretending to be Spanish. Of course I'd love to travel more if teleportation devices were more cheap and efficient.Music : my all time favorite is the O.C. Supertones, and i'm currently loving the Shins, Death Cab for Cutie, and Silversun Pickups, though if Lady Gaga is playing I will hit the dance floor!Movies: If I want to be inspired, Facing the Giants, if I want to laugh, Dumb and Dumber, if I want it all, Little Miss Sunshine, and of course Star Wars for all occasionsCoffee: I love to brew a strong Cuban decaf, always over ice, then add some chocolate to it and keep the 6 bucks for myself...cha-ching!

Ashley is all about Jesus. With him it's a relationship, not a religion. Shes been involved with the Vineyard Church / saved for 4 years now. Music and worship always connects her to God on a deeper level. She is kingdom minded and desires to do all she can to be a great leader/servant for God. a "life verse": "For I know the plans I have for you", declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Rick has been happily married for 31 years to Cindy, a St. Petersburg native and has three children. Sarah, Ricks oldest, is currently serving in the Peace Corps in Africa; Patrick, the middle child, is currently serving in the U.S. Navy and stationed in Groton, CT. At the Vineyard, we kind of have a saying. There is no Junior Holy Spirit. That's kind of our way of expressing our belief that the same God that lives and works through each of us, inhabits and works in our children as well. We do not minimize the power of God in their lives, and for that reason, our childrens ministry is not a babysitting service. Its a chance to invest in young lives! Jesus himself often spoke of the crucial role that children play in Gods Kingdom! How can we view our kids as anything less than what our Lord Himself recognizes!It is the aim and priority of the Vineyard Kids ministry to1. recognize the full power of the Holy Spirit working in our children and cultivate each childs spiritual gifts2. equip strong families3. provide a safe and loving environment for our kids. Vineyard kids meet in three different groups on Sunday. You may sign your children in with their teacher any time between 9:45 am and 10:05 am in the age-appropriate classroom. At sign in you will receive a non-transferable wristband with your own number. You will need this wristband in order to pick up your children after service. Genesis: This is where children begin their faith journey. Genesis is for ages birth-2 years old. In Genesis kids receive loving nurturing as they begin to worship the Lord through age appropriate songs and stories. The nursery is located directly behind the sanctuary.Pit Stop: The faith journey continues here for children ages 3-6. Pre-school and young elementary school aged children, using the Little SonShine curriculum, begin to understand Bible stories, put together the pieces of Gods great story, and reinforce what they have learned through developmentally appropriate activities such as crafts, games, and songs. The Pit Stop is located in the courtyard classrooms.Hiz Kidz: This class is for elementary school aged children 6-11. In this class we really start to put it all together to see Gods Big Picture. In fact, that is the name of our curriculum! Learning doesnt have to be boring! In fact, we think it shouldnt be! Bible stories are taught and reainforced in ways that appeal to every learning style so that all kids are able to excel and have a great experience! The Hiz Kidz classroom is also located in the courtyard.
The St. Pete Vineyard highly values kids! We arent a church that simply offers babysitting to keep children out of the way during services. Nor do we merely entertain kids with meaningless activities. Instead, we view childrens ministry as an opportunity to both teach and model spiritual stuff. We aim to be a place where your kids can find love, truth and life.

EastWest exists to guide students into taking their next step on the journey, becoming fully-devoted Christ followers.Our focus is to hit students where they are in life, no matter where they are. This is a cool place to come hang out, make friends, and ask questions. EastWest serves students in grades 6-12.

"In the beginning, God created..."This is the most fundamental idea in all of Scripture. Before there was a beginning, there was a God and His most foundational action--the action mentioned by the writer of Genesis before anything else, was that He created. He created air, water, earth and fire. He created atmosphere, oceans, rivers and streams. He created animals giant and microscopic. And He said it was all good. He created mankind with all of our complexities and intricacies. And in all of this, we were the only ones with a distinction above everything else that was created...we were fashioned in His image. Which means...that we are instilled with that same fundamental and foundational drive to create. And once again, He said it was all good.We create in so many different ways. Some of us create pictures and visual art. Some of us create with words and poems and stories. Some of us create with instruments and our own voices. Some of us use what we can touch and feel to create while still others use software and virtual bits of data to create. Some of us create in even more subtle ways: we teach others the best way to harness their creativity or we create the spacious, safe and encouraging environment for others to thrive in their creativity. But, at the core of each one of us, whether we are willing to admit it or not, is the desire to use whatever we have at our disposal to make something different, interesting and new. I see it every day in those around me. My wife and kids are creative. My in-laws are creative. My church family is creative. Most of all, my God is creative. Even more importantly, my God inspires creativity in me and in those around me.That is where we are, to varying degrees, at the Vineyard. We are creating and constantly desiring to be inspired to create. And this, to me, is the root of worship. The description of worship I once heard is that God reveals, we respond, and then He responds to our response by revealing even more. That's deep, right? And I've found it to be so true. My goal here as the worship leader is to help create that place where we can see God reveal Himself to us and then we can also feel safe to respond however we need to respond and let that circle happen from week to week, day to day and moment to moment. Worship is so much bigger than a set of songs or our weekly gathering on Sunday mornings. It's bigger than a painting or a poem or picture snapped on an iPhone. Worship is simply His act of revealing Himself to us and our response to His revelation...over and over again and in far too many ways to limit just to music or dance or a funny skit. Don't get me wrong. I am, first and foremost, a musician. I love all forms of music and that is my primary outlet in worship. But, let's not get caught up in what we're used to seeing defined as worship in the church. Let's get...well, creative. With that said, I encourage you to come worship with us. And then go worship without us. Allow everything you do, both important and menial, to become part of your response to an incredibly loving , immeasuarbly gracious and immensely creative God. Be the creative worshipper He always knew you were supposed to be.
