Hello and welcome to our website! To all alumna and active members, welcome home. For those of you who are just visiting or are interested in recruitment, we encourage you to look around and get a feel for what being a Chi Omega is all about. Chi Omegas are one of the most well-rounded groups of women on campus, constantly balancing their academic, professional, philanthropic, and social activities. Being part of Chi Omega will give you a new home and a group of amazing friends to share your college experience. Beyond that, the women of Chi Omega share a bond that truly lasts a lifetime. We are so proud of all of our members and hope you will be able to get a better understanding of our sisterhood through this site.

The Nu Alpha chapter was installed on March 6, 1915. Chi Omega continued on campus until 1944, when the university banned sororities . Chi Omega was re-instated on May 25, 1991 and has been present ever since. With approximately 100 members today, Nu Alpha is going strong. A constant recipiate of recognition from Nationals for its strong performance, Nu Alpha also boasts a 3.6 average G.P.A., one of the highest across the country. Furthermore, two scholarships are awarded to Stanford Chi O's every year, one from Nationals and another from Stanford. To view more information about Nu Alpha's members, please click here.
It all began on April 5, 1895 when 4 women from the University of Arkansas, with the help of a local dentist, established the secrets, symbolism, and rites that today bind over 240,000 women together. Inspired by the need for an organization that appreciated and respected the potential and inherent value of women, this group built Chi Omega with six principles in mind. These are friendship, high standards of personnel, sincere learning and creditable scholarship, participation in campus activities, career and personal development, and community service. Today Chi Omega has grown to be the largest national sorority, initiating more than 5,ooo women annually.
Chi O's love to document our adventures together. Enjoy a snapshot of life with Chi Omega's social calendar!
Chi Omegas are not only sisters, but also best friends. From the excitement of getting or giving amazing presents everyday during Big/Little Week to having a shoulder to cry on during a bad breakup, your sisters will always be there for you.
Part of friendship is loving each friend for who she truly is. Chi Omega recognizes this and, thus, encourages each member to be herself. After all, it is each of our individual talents that makes us special. However, not matter how amazing each woman is on her own, we are all stronger and most successful when we come together as a group. This sentiment can be seen throughout much of Chi Omega life, but is especially evident in our Symphony. Chi Omega views each member as a single instrument, crucial and unique. However, it is only when we all come together, like an orchestra, that we can make a symphony.
Written by Ethel Switzer Howard in 1904 on the eve of her initiation into the Xi Chapter at Northwestern University, the Symphony was eventually adopted nationally as the example of what every Chi O should aspire to be.
"To live constantly above snobbery of word or deed; to place scholarship before social obligations and character before appearances; to be, in the best sense, democratic rather than 'exclusive', and lovable rather than 'popular'; to work earnestly, to speak kindly, to act sincerely, to choose thoughtfully that course which occasion and conscience demand; to be womanly always; to be discouraged never; in a word, to be loyal under any and all circumstances to my Fraternity and her highest teachings and to have her welfare ever at heart that she may be a symphony of high purpose and helpfulness in which there is no discordant note. "
Philanthropy helps us to always remember the many priveledges that we, as Stanford students, are afforded. Through philanthropy work, we make both ourselves and the community better. Chi Omega's official philanthropy is the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which grants wishes to children with life-threatening illnesses. Stanford Chi O gives back by holding an annual dodgeball tournament with Sigma Nu to raise money for Make-A-Wish. Besides that, we try to give back to the community in as many ways as possible. From Dance Marathon to Relay for Life to Greek Week, Chi O's have fun while supporting great causes.
Like all girls, Chi O's love to have fun, and we have a lot of it. In joining Chi Omega, you not only get a group of sisters, but you also get a whole community. Through Chi Omega, you get to network with the whole Greek community, a sure way to expand your friend group beyond the friends you made in your dorm.
In addition, if you are a Chi Omega, your social calendar will always be filled. From Tour de Frats to Sigma de Chi O (our Cinco de Mayo celebration with Sigma Chi), Chi O's are always out having fun. Furthermore if you want to go somewhere, be it a men's volleyball game, an all-campus party, or Coachella, you will always have a sister by your side.
So whether it is watching Glee together, making cards to send to our sisters abroad, going to a football game, dancing at Formal, winning Greek Week, or rolling out to mixer with a fraternity, if we are together, you can be sure that we are having the time of our lives.
Chi O's love to document our adventures together. Enjoy a snapshot of life as a Chi Omega!

Welcome! My name is Vivian Nguyen, and I am the Recruitment Chair for the Nu Alpha Chapter of Chi Omega. Spring Formal Recruitment at Stanford is a whirlwind process, but it is also a fantastic opportunity to learn what the Stanford Greek Community has to offer. The mutual selection process ensures that each woman finds exactly what she is looking for in a chapter. For me, joining Chi Omega meant finding a group of elegant, thoughtful, and beautiful ladies to call my sisters - they support me and truly are my Stanford family. I found friends, I found countless adventures, and I became part of an organization that has immeasurably changed my college experience for the better. See for yourself! I encourage you to wander through our website and discover all that Chi Omega has to offer. Spring Formal Recruitment 2011 will begin in April, and I hope to see your smiling face then! Check out the Stanford ISC website for more information regarding the Inter-Sorority Council, Greek life, and registration, and please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions at vmnguyen_stanford.edu . I look forward to meeting each and every one of you, and introducing you to the amazing women of Chi Omega! Go Cardinal, and Go Greek!
