What kids will learn
Kids will learn correct vocal techniques which can be used for both singing and acting work.
They will learn about taking care of the voice and why it is important in acting.
They will learn different acting techniques and how to use their own experiences in their performance.
We will introduce relaxation techniques - great for exams etc
They will learn about the stage and some of the theory behind performing and be shown why they are asked to do things.
All the kids will be given a fair chance when it comes to shows and performance workshops and encouraged to build on their skills and talents - children will be challenged without being made to feel stressed or uncomfortable we will allow them to advance at their own pace (which will be different for each child)
There will only ever be a maximum of 10 children to every 1 workshop leader to allow each of them to shine.
How classes run
Classes run on a 4 week block basis and fees are due on the 1st week of each block.
During each class we will do some vocal work which includes - breathing exercises, how their body works (in relation to their voice), some singing (but at a level that will suit all students regardless of singing ability)
We will also be doing acting work which will include - some basic theory on the workings of theatres, areas of the stage, why actors do things the way do them and it will also include some improvisational work encouraging them to use their own imaginations and experiences, and we will also work on some pieces from published plays experimenting with different ways of performing e.g. Different accents, which will help build their confidence and help with our show work.
Our year runs from April to April and during that time We will perform 2 shows per year with the possibility of additional appearances at events e.g. Gala days etc. - at the moment we are looking for a venue for our first show an will inform you of the venue and dates as soon as possible.
We will also keep you updated of what the kids are doing in the classes and will send out a newsletter at the end of each 4 week block telling you what has been covered.
From time to time the kids will have some drama pieces or songs to learn at home, particularly in the run up to our shows but this will be broken down into manageable sections and shouldnt cause them any stress or worry - if it does we would ask that you speak to us and we will sort it out
Classes should be fun for the kids and we hope to encourage them and build their skills and confidence in a fun and rewarding way.
