Understanding Reiki
Reiki is a Japanese word meaning 'Universal Life Force Energy'. Reiki works with the energy (chakra) systems. Chakra means 'spinning wheel' and are the points where we draw in and send out energy from the body. Energy can simply be described as a vibration. Color is also a vibration, or frequency of light, and is associated with glands in the body. There is a color and gland that belongs to each of the seven chakras. Reiki raises the vibration level in the body balancing out the chakras and releasing blocks.
Reiki is a simple and natural method of healing. It doesn't require any special or religious beliefs. Reiki treats the whole person including body,mind,spirit, and on emotional levels. It makes you feel relaxed, at peace, and have an over all feeling of well being. Reiki induces relaxation response where the body deeply relaxes and the immune system takes over. At this point the body has time to rejuvenate itself by releasing toxins and stress. It is possible to feel worse after the first, or first few, times you have a Reiki session because of this cleansing period. Make sure to drink plenty of water after a session.
