Our Pre-School Room/Big Room is for the older children at the nursery.
The children may stay at Bonnie Babies until they attend Reception Class at state school.
We have children from approximately 2 1/2 years to 5 years old in this room, therefore the activities have to cater for a wide range of abilities.
We strongly encourage development of social skills, independence and manners at this stage, in order to prepare them for entry into school.
We also teach them to be aware of their and each others feelings and emotions.
We follow a curriculum plan that follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). When the children are ready to leave Bonnie Babies, they are happy, confident and are well prepared for their next educational development venture.
Activities included:- weekly swimming lessons at our local leisure centre (Hartham), Cooking Activities, Art and Craft Activities, Messy Play, Workbooks, Chart Time and Calender work, Circle Time, Maths, Construction, Music and Singing, Physical Activities and Outsifde Play etyc.
Throughout the child's journey at Bonnie Babies, stages and acheivements will be logged in their 'Learning Journal'-this maybe used to pass onto a new setting or when they start school. This will help the new setting to see what stage of development the child is acheiving in the six areas of learning e.g Personal Social and Emotional/Communication ,Language and Literacy/Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy/Knowledge and Understanding of the World/Physical Development/Creative Development.
Our Toddler Room is for mobile children who are learning the basics of physical, social and emotional development. At this stage, the children are constantly learning and experiencing new things, therefore, they have to be stimulated and interested at all times.
Imagination is very important to encourage, therefore, lots of free playtime is given for this purpose.
Other activities such as sand, water, painting, singing, music and story times are all included on a regular basis. They also learn to share and play co-operatively, developing their social and emotional skills.
We also use a lot of 'Heuristic' play including sensory play and treasure baskets.
Although children of this age want to be independent and to learn and explore by themselves, they still need a certain amount of encouragement and reassurance. They always receive the attention and comfort they need at this delicate stage of development.
When they have developed to a point where they need a different level of stimulation to continue there learning, your child is introduced to the Pre-School Room/Big Room.
Bonnie Babies Day Nursery consists of three large activity rooms that are well equipped for children of all ages and development stages.
Our Baby Room is for those children that are at an early age. It is essential that we get things right for both parents and child.
We have soft mats and chairs and many suitable soft toys and activity toys to keep the children suitably stimulated.
We follow the Early Years Foundation stage (EYFS) from birth to when the child goes to school.

A visit is often useful for parents and child as well as carers. We all get to know each other a little before your child actually starts at the nursery. The children recieve lots of cuddles and attention as well as play from staff and they develop into sociable, alert, very happy children who benefit from experience at both home and the nursery.
When the children are ready and mobile, they are gently introduced into the next room, 'The Toddler Room'.
