Pyle & Associates' primary business is food industry government relations, specializing in supplemental feeding programs and federal purchases of foodstuffs since 1970. Pyle & Associates also handles industrial metals issues, with emphasis on trade and the defense national stockpile.
Project and specialty work is available on an as-needed basis in healthcare, financial services, and government manufacturing.
Pyle & Associates was founded by Robert Pyle in 1964 after he worked 20 years on Capitol Hill for the Republican National Committee and several congressmen as their campaign advisor and/or chief of staff. In 1970, Pyle & Associates was incorporated as a government and public relations firm, and the first two clients were the Independent Bakers Association and Welch Foods, Inc.
In 1985, son Nicholas Pyle returned to the family business after working in oil. In 1989, Nicholas was named President of Pyle & Associates, and in 2006, he completed purchase of Pyle & Associates from his father.
Nicholas A. Pyle was named President of Robert N. Pyle & Associates in 1989. He is an expert on legislative analysis and the development of congressional initiatives and testimony, particularly with regard to issues involving clean air, telecommunications, agriculture, collective bargaining, energy, environment, foreign relations, health care, taxes, integrated home control systems, strategic and critical materials, and supplemental feeding programs. To lobby members of Congress, Mr. Pyle organizes "Marches on Congress," an often-duplicated innovation where Pyle & Associates' clients canvass individual members of Congress to express their positions. Mr. Pyle attended Hobart College and is a graduate of the University of Southwest Louisiana. Prior to rejoining Robert N. Pyle & Associates in 1985, Mr. Pyle worked on petroleum exploration assignments in Brazil, the North Sea, Spain, the Gulf of Mexico as well as in the continental United States
Alexis Fobes has been employed at Pyle & Associates since June 1994. She is the liaison for Post Cereal, B&G Foods, ConAgra Foods, Riviana Foods and Kraft Cheese accounts. With over 15 years experience, Alexis is an expert in supplemental feeding programs. Mrs. Fobes launched eight new products in the cereal category, and made this company a major player in the $300 million cereal market. Alexis also raised brand recognition in the generic cheese, peanut butter and rice categories. Her specialization also lies in targeted membership fund raising campaigns. Alexis graduated cum laude from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in May of 1994 with a B.A. in Communications and a minor in Sociology.
Brandon Van Hoff graduated Cum Laude from the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington majoring in Political Science and European Studies with a minor in French. After graduation, Brandon worked in France as an English teacher for a year. After teaching, Brandon moved to Washington, DC where he has worked at Pyle and Associates since November 2007. Brandon works on WIC issues for for Welchs and Pacific Natural Foods.
Sarah Kwon joined Pyle and Associates in June 2009. Prior to joining Pyle and Associates, Sarah interned for Congressman David Wu (D-OR). Sarah graduated from Portland State University in Oregon with a B.A. in International Studies. In 2005 she attended the Washington Semester Program at American University and traveled to China to study international business and economics. While in the program, she interned with the Korea Economic Institute in Washington D.C. where she carried out a research project examining the U.S. - Korea Free Trade Agreement.
