Sonya Kinkade is a formally trained Interior decorator & owner of Sonya Kinkade Design. Sonya’s flair for design has always been there but was brought to life when she opened a Home Decor store in 1995. With the prompting of her customers to help them with their homes & businesses, Sonya decided to follow her calling and completed the Residential Decor Programme at Algonquin College in Ottawa, Ontario.
Sonya and her team work on both Residential and Commercial projects ranging from Simple Decorating to major Renovations, Additions and New builds. With her keen sence for style and her attention to detail, Sonya can transform any space into something you will love to call your own.

INITIAL CONSULTATION $250
DRAFTING
The initial consultation is an onsite meeting where we determine your needs, style choice & design objectives. You can use this consultation as a standalone service or for the first step in the design process.
I will discuss with you the project- whether it’s a renovation, new build, minor or even if it’s involves no structural changes at all. We will discuss the types of plans and drawings you will require and the various trades needed (from contractors, electrical, painters) to complete the project.

At Sonya Kinkade Design, our goal is to make the design-build process an enjoyable one for our clients. Experience has shown us that knowledge of standard procedures helps clients feel comfortable for the entire project. Here is how it works:
STEP 1 Consultation with Sonya Kinkade or Senior Designer
STEP 2 Signing of Agreement, receipt of retainer, project commencement
STEP 3 On-site measurements, photo's and final criterion meeting.
STEP 4 Execution of floor plans, elevations, sourcing , fabric, furnishings.
STEP 5 Presentation of estimates and furnishings/material
STEP 6 Placement of orders
STEP 7 Review of Budget
STEP 8 Initiation on construction and renovation
STEP 9 Installation period continues and receipt of orders
STEP 10 Furniture installation and styling
STEP 11 Client Reveal
STEP 12 Deficiencies walk through

STEP 14 Client closure meeting and presentation of final invoices

THE PROCESS
When the decision has been made to move forward, we will work closely to ensure all needs are met. We will explore all design alternatives to make your space the best it can.
We will then measure and photograph the space, this enables us to provide you with accurate & industry accepted drawings. Depending on the project, we will create detailed plans/drawings for furniture & layout, finishes, elevations & all drawings for cabinetry. At Sonya Kinkade Design we offer a FULL DESIGN SERVICE, and your degree of involvement is up to you. All drawings & finishes are approved by you. We provide both the design of the project & all contracting of trades to ensure the construction process runs as smooth as possible.
To ensure the design process is a success, careful construction management is essential. We will make sure the technical drawings and material specifications are carried out as intended. We will manage the project during the building process, and will monitor it on-site while the various trades complete their work. By having a designer manage the daunting process of a renovation and construction it will make the transition a much easier experience. We will ensure all work is done properly, by managing the construction and installation process. We are always there to help you with all your questions and work closely with the contractor to make sure that your project is on time & on budget.
